Voll Blau Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Did kp know he was meeting Strauss tonight? Explained his return to form, even if it was just to prove a point. Amazing decision really, if true. They must provide a reason why he will never be picked again? I half hoped he'd return and fail, just to piss piers Morgan off, now he's going to be talked about every time we lose a wicket. To an extent, but not even KP could have predicted he'd hit the showers with a triple ton in his back pocket when he wandered out the pavilion earlier.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Balls of steel from Strauss. Good, KP is 35 and there's no telling how he'd integrate back into the England team, especially after his book. We need to develop a team for the next 3-4 Ashes series, not just be potentially competitive in this one.
RowlattsFox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I can see both sides of the argument really, we seem pretty ok with bell and root at 4 and 5 so where does KP come in? It would probably mean pissing about with root again. Whilst we are shit though and KP is still around there's always going to be questions. Needs to be explained once and for all.
L4EV Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 Cook © Lyth Ballance Bell Root Stokes Buttler Rashid Plunkett Broad Anderson Should be the team.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 Pleased that KP won't be back. Short term-ism got us nowhere by bringing Trott back because he scored a few at County level and it seems we have learned from that and moved on. Added to that he is clearly a disruptive and divisive personality I can see no good in him coming back at 35 years old. My team for the first test next week would be:CookLyth/Robson Ballance BellRootButtlerStokesRashidJordan/BroadPlunkettAnderson.
Guest MattP Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 What a day to score 326 Although we did drop him 5 times.... Probably the right decision, you can't write things about your team mates that he onto the book and expect to be able to walk back onto the field with them.
marko Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 ECB won't select him this summer due to "massive trust issue" yet Strauss has confirmed the ECB offered him an advisory role in limited overs cricket! Top trolling of Piers Morgan and the #BringBackKP brigade
purpleronnie Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 Great that changes are being made, amazing how Cook has avoided them.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 Great that changes are being made, amazing how Cook has avoided them. Cook seems to be back to scoring runs and seems no captain other than him. Root will take over in the next 2 years but needs to learn first.
Super_horns Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 Guess at least everyone know where they stand now and its been sorted out pretty quickly. Somebody just needs to tell that Colin Graves guy to think before talking. That's twice now he's put his foot in it with comments causing chaos. Trouble is the KP fans are going to be out in force if the New Zealand tests and Ashes don't go well.
Corky Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 Great that changes are being made, amazing how Cook has avoided them. He's angelic, how can you upset his little face?
Darkon84 Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 Caught up with some of the IPL last night. Did anyone else get to see De Villiers innings against the Mumbai Indians from Sunday, finishing 133NO from 59 balls. That guy is a machine!
Captain... Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 Strauss has done exactly the right thing and put the KP nonsense to bed, it doesn't matter if he is currently the best individual batsman in the world, he is divisive in the dressing room and was shite last time he played for England, we need to rebuild and that starts with binning off KP, and Trott and getting some younger lads in, and getting the more experienced lot to step up and take responsibility or fvck off. Obviously it was a massive balls up in how it was handled but at least it is finally dealt. I can see they have already started moulding Root to be the next Cook, lets hope we don't make the same mistake and actually let him captain some matches before throwing him in at the deep end.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Hats off Hales, incredible knock. Get him in that Test team.
Voll Blau Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 Hats off Hales, incredible knock. Get him in that Test team. His limited overs ability seems to play against him with the selectors. He can clearly play across all three formats.
Captain... Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Hats off Hales, incredible knock. Get him in that Test team. No thanks, keep him as a limited overs specialist get him playing IPL, big bash, and every other limited overs format. Encourage him to blast the ball out the park not grind out a 30 in the test team. Only even think of playing him in test cricket if you give him license to play his shots. We are doing our best to stifle Buttler let's not do the same to Hales just yet.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Big day for the new regime today with the first test of a very tough summer. An unbeaten Cook ton would settle a few nerves and silence a few critics.
leicsmac Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Terrible toss to lose. Facing Boult and Southee on a pitch like this is the stuff of nightmares.
Wycombe Fox Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 FFS. Change of batting order because Ali wasn't ready. Chaos.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 New Zealand's pace attack is easily the best in world cricket.
Alexikokopops Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 In four of his five innings in the West Indies Root came in with the scores at 34, 52, 38 and 18 (all for three). Today was 25 (thanks to the Guardian for that). Still, him and Stokes are having some fun.
