Corky Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 This is painful stuff yet such a gripping Test match. West Indies are improving a lot and the coaches will instill commitment and work rate. Just hope we can get to roughly 250 ahead.
Captain... Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Why does our most devastating batsman come in at 8? He should be coming in ahead of Stokes at least, I would have Buttler higher up the order he needs to come in when we have a platform to take the game away from the opposition not being worried about how many wickets are left. At least if he comes in before Stokes he knows he has someone to bat with Stokes at least can bat out one end a play cautious or attack if the game needs it, but Buttler's strength is devastating positive batting and he was nullified in the first innings and probably will be in this innings too due to the situation.
marko Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Going to be tough now. You certainly don't want to be down to no reviews with Billy Bowden standing behind the stumps.
ealingfox Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Absolute muck. Windies will take this comfortably. Sack Moores now.
marko Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Oh dear! Regretting spending a small fortune on Ashes tickets for the summer.
Corky Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 DON'T PANIC Moores has stated we're getting better. 15 wins in 40 matches since he came back but we're improving.
marko Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 DON'T PANIC Moores has stated we're getting better. 15 wins in 40 matches since he came back but we're improving. Super! At least that means we'll only get spanked 4-0 instead of 5-0.
RowlattsFox Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 Trott retired. Wasted opportunity to try someone else.
marko Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 Trott retired. Wasted opportunity to try someone else. So Lyth will probably open with Cook against NZ and he hasn't played a competitive innings for a month. Fantastic foresight by Moores & Co.
Captain... Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 I don't blame Trott in all of this, he didn't pick himself to open the batting, he also didn't make England shit while he was out the side, the right thing to do from him. I think it could be a recalled Sam Robson, saw he made some runs on the county circuit, or Lyth or a recalled Compton or Carberry, I think the biggest problem with English cricket at the moment is we haven't replaced Strauss at the top of the order each series it is a different opening pair.
Guest MattP Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 Farcical end on Sunday, really showed the limitations of not having a proper spin bowler, we seriously can't go into the Ashes with Mooen and Root as the spinners, assuming we'll be preparing slow pitches to negate Mitch and co we'll get absolutely carted if we do. (Great test match though, can't remember the last one I watched where it was so heavily weighted towards ball) If Tredwell is the best of a shit bunch then so be it, he plays and we play Stokes at 6 for the extra seam option. Thanks for the memories Trott, the mental disintegration was too much though and I'm surprised we went back to him when we had Lyth available, we've now got 2 matches to blood someone for the Ashes, superb stuff from the management again. Wood should have played as well, maybe even Rashid, ridiculous to have these two sat on their backsides. This is how I think we'll be next test...Broad is a number 11 now, he's another who has totally had a mental collapse with the bat. Cook Lyth Ballance Bell Root Stokes Buttler Jordan Tredwell Anderson Broad
Corky Posted 6 May 2015 Posted 6 May 2015 This is a brilliant line in no self awareness. In his Daily Telegraph column on Tuesday, Boycott wrote: "Every time Cook opens his mouth, he sticks his foot in it. "Cook acts as if he is the best captain England have ever had.
Simmo86 Posted 8 May 2015 Posted 8 May 2015 Strauss is going to be the new director of cricket then. Bye Bye Moores??
Bobby Hundreds Posted 8 May 2015 Posted 8 May 2015 Sounds like Moores has gone. Gillespie and Langer in the frame, either would be fantastic.
Voll Blau Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 And tonight Strauss has told him he won't be picked again. Meet the new boss, the same as the old boss... FOR FVCK'S SAKE.
RowlattsFox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Did kp know he was meeting Strauss tonight? Explained his return to form, even if it was just to prove a point. Amazing decision really, if true. They must provide a reason why he will never be picked again? I half hoped he'd return and fail, just to piss piers Morgan off, now he's going to be talked about every time we lose a wicket.
Narborough_fox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 If it was Atherton or Hussein as Director of Cricket I think he'd have been recalled. Strauss doesn't like him and probably wants to be seen to have a backbone early on by rejecting him despite it being completely the wrong decision. If England's number one target for the coaching job says he wants it but only if he can call on Pietersen do you think Strauss would change his mind?
