RowlattsFox Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 Shocking that it's only a two match series, test cricket should be a minimum of 3 matches. We'd be set up for a great decider if New Zealand finish the job today.

leicsmac Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Craig Kieswetter announces his retirement due to injury http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/33020571 Real shame. Destructive 20/20 batsman and decent with the gloves too. Hopefully one of the TV channels will offer him a punditry gig on the IPL/Big Bash/T20Blast or somesuch.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Bell, Anderson and Broad axed for the one day series. Hallelujah.
Guest MattP Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Like the look of the new ODI squad, if we can find 7/8 positions from that for the next World Cup we should be happy. Despite the loss to NZ I feel quite positive about the team Cook looks back to his best, Lyth did well, Stokes has secured the number six slot and Mark Wood looks the part at times and offers something different. The two problems positions are number three and number eight - Ballance looks totally at sea against left arm pace bowling and with as Australian side with Starc and Johnson in that's a major worry, as for Moeen, he just doesn't look up to it at this level and his captain clearly doesn't trust him, if we have to pick four pace bowlers and let Root ill in with a few overs then so be it.

Completely agree, plus this is the best NZ test team I've ever seen, I love McCullum's attitude to captaincy. Ballance and Bell are currently my big two worries going into the Ashes.
leicsmac Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 I think the lack of a quality spinner is going to end up killing us, particularly when travelling. We miss Swann more than people think.

It's not just the fact he could take wickets, it's that he could hold an end up while the seamers rotated at the other.
Guest MattP Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Exciting team, lets see what happens over seven games. Love the fact we've fastracked Billings.
marko Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 This approach to ODI cricket is infinitely more exciting than the previous rubbish served up.
Narborough_fox Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 This is a wonderful innings from Root. Good to see England having a go in ODIs.
Captain... Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Looks like another good start being thrown away here, had to go and do some work came back and we had lost 4 wickets, the old double your 30 over score would be a nice total, 400 please. More likely to be 250 and all out in under 40 overs...
RowlattsFox Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Excellent run rate but lost too many wickets, 200 after 30 overs is excellent but need more wickets in hand to get a big score. Keep buttler in until the last 7 or 8 and then he can go big.
Corky Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Unfortunately the way we want to play, plus being a young team will mean we'll have some collapses.
Swarles Barkley Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 To be honest, wasnt expecting us to change this quickly, and this is some turnaround. Still early days though And buttler reaches 100. Very well played!!!
marko Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Superb innings by Jos! I hope this is a sign of things to come - superb display so far.
purpleronnie Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 This is more proof that we have the batting talent. Finally the shackles are off.
leicsmac Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 The best WK/batsman I've seen in an England shirt is Prior. Buttler could well end up being better, at both Test and ODI level.
