leicsmac Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Very good recovery here from 30/4. Really want to aim for about 350 as the par score.
Captain... Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Did NZ think it was a 20/20 match? First 20 overs unplayable, then they have been bang average after that, this one lasts 5 days lads...
Voll Blau Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Proper ding dong battle today. And folks say Test cricket's dead. England's short-sleeved pullovers are a bit dodge though. Pick one pattern or the other.
CKB Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 England's short-sleeved pullovers are a bit dodge though. Pick one pattern or the other. Haha so true, I was like wtf are they wearing?
Voll Blau Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Haha so true, I was like wtf are they wearing? The bottom half looks decent. Love the old-style patterned ones!
purpleronnie Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 That wicket with 2 balls left yestarday was a huge wicket, very little spoke about it but I thought it was a huge moment. Sometimes we have to learn about playing the game out and not losing crucial wickets at crucial times. Let's hope the bowlers can start well and 390 might look a very good score.
Guest MattP Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 The jumpers are an absolute abomination, horrible. Certainly shouldn't lose this match from here with a good score put up, again though Moeen is going to have to perform and take wickets.
Corky Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Wood takes a wicket yet bowls a no-ball in the same delivery. Why do our bowlers do this? Why do they push the line so much? It's not difficult to have some part of the foot behind the line.
Guest MattP Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Much of a muchness about this bowling attack, doesn't bode well at all when you see the slips dropping them either when chances are few and far between.

It's not difficult to have some part of the foot behind the line. Come on, it is not just our bowlers, all bowlers bowl a no ball every now and then, even spinners, it is just sod's law it was a wicket taking delivery. The best one was in the IPL, the last ball of the match opponents needing 3 runs to win, batsman gets caught on the slog, players go wild, Umpire correctly called a no ball, batsman gets a reprieve and a run and a free hit which he steers to the boundary and wins the match.
leicsmac Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Much of a muchness about this bowling attack, doesn't bode well at all when you see the slips dropping them either when chances are few and far between. Agree with this. Far too samey, and we miss Swann (and by extension the world class attacking spin option he provided) something chronic.
Strokes Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Anyone going down grace road this afternoon? I'm knocking off work now, to go and have a butchers.
Swarles Barkley Posted 23 May 2015 Posted 23 May 2015 going to be a very long summer for england fans. cannot see us taking 10 wickets never mind 20 of them
leicsmac Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Take a bow, Ben Stokes. Taken the game away from NZ psychologically, if not literally.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Cook is an absolute boss. Dug out a century despite batting against a top class bowling outfit with the ball swinging and his side in a total mess. If it is a straight choice between him and Pietersen then there's no doubt the selectors did the right thing. Less said about his captaincy the better, but probably the best batsman we've had in the 20 years I've been watching England.
theessexfox Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Obviously was out all day but that's a huge knock from Cooky with the Ashes round the corner. Credit to Stokes too and Root, who always seems to get runs.
Captain... Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Root is phenomenal 8 scores of 50+ in his last 10 innings, averaging close to 100 since the last ashes. Stokes could be a revelation, absolutely ridiculous that he wasn't picked for World Cup still has some work to do I think his big test will be the next tour of the sub continent. Still some question marks over the top order, Lyth didn't take his chance but hope he will get another but if he fails again in the next test I can see us going back to Robson or even Compton for the Ashes. Bell and Ballance need to find some form and make a score too. Liked the look of Wood, but Ali needs to step up and be a frontline spinner this test is his chance 5th day wicket NZ with a target to chase this is where Swann would win you the match.
Captain... Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Why on earth wouldn't you declare? Why risk your bowlers who won't score any runs just to waste a bit of time. Come on Jimmy just give it a smash and get runs or get out!

Come on Jimmy just give it a smash and get runs or get out! Some things never change. Anywho, the future of our batsmen is bright, just need to find a couple of bowling stars now.
Ross-Kemp Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 New Zealand require 345 to win. They're currently 0-2 after 2 overs.
1993fox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Astonishing comeback by England. They've been diabolical so far this year so this is a strong statement.
Corky Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Brilliant Test match that has ebbed and flowed with both sides in command then looking like losing it. Real opportunity now to start the summer with a memorable victory.
Osavo Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Even if we don't win, this won't be a bad start to the summer. We have come back from a very difficult position and Cook, Root and Stokes have all produced very good scores. Our bowling attack still looks pretty weak though unfortunately.
