Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 June 2015 Posted 15 June 2015 For me it is becoming clear that despite us having plenty of quality batsmen when they are on form, our lack of world class bowling is absolutely killing us. Who has! Limited overs game is entirely loaded in the batters' favour. Get an econ below 6 and you're doing well.

It was a shame Rashid didn't take some wickets in the middle overs yesterday, if he can become a wicket taking threat then it will give us that something extra, we have the seamers to take early wickets, but too often we fail to make inroads in the middle overs and they score too freely, the spinners job is to dry up the runs, but if that isn't happening or we have a low total to defend we need to be able to take wickets. Setting big totals is definitely a good thing, but we need to be good at all 3 disciplines to succeed and we are still to expensive with ball, and too sloppy in the field, but if we stick with this team and this mentality we will improve.
Guest MattP Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 Morgan showing how utterly hopeless he is yet again. He's either miscalculated his overs or he intentional left two of he last three overs to spin, which when the opposition has wickets in hand was comical, 6-6-0-4-6-6 and the games goes from 50-50 to 75-25 NZ. We've got Rashid and Root, not Warne and Murali.
Guest MattP Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 Although he's bowled very last over, that 48th could have ruined it though. Should be chasing 330.

We've got Rashid and Root, not Warne and Murali. He was trying to be aggressive and bowled out Wood and Finn looking for wickets, that 48th over was a killer, good comeback from Rashid, but this will be a big ask, hopefully a 4th consecutive 300+ score. We are still developing this team, and learning lessons, the most frustrating thing about the last few games is the number of chances we have dropped, there have been some really tough ones today, but also some that we need to take if we are going to win games.
Corky Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 We're trying to get ahead of Duckworth/Lewis in case it chucks it down after last Friday's issues.
Simmo86 Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 Dont need to be stupid here though. Need to bat using our brains for a bit.
marko Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 These last few games show you just how limited Peter Moores was as a coach. If we'd have taken this team and approach to the World Cup we'd have given ourselves a half decent chance.
Captain... Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 Massive hitting from Morgan. Hopefully Bayliss will continue Farbrace's good work. Although these new rule changes might spoil the fun a little bit.
Swarles Barkley Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 Great win and with 6 overs still in the bank. Loving this new England Long may it continue!!!
leicsmac Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 What a amazing victory. Chasing down the biggest target by far in English ODI history with six overs to go in almost nonchalant fashion.
Captain... Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 350 off 44 is ahead of where we were when we scored 409. Still gutted that the second match was ruined, robbed us all of an epic finish to the game.

If we'd have taken this team and approach to the World Cup we'd have given ourselves a half decent chance. Justifies the decision to bin him. We have a talented bunch of big hitting and quick scoring batsmen who needed the shackles off and allowed to play their natural game. Really enjoyed New Zealand being over here, exciting cricket and very sporting too.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 Just on my way back. Awesome game played in the right spirit. This New England are sensational.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 18 June 2015 Posted 18 June 2015 Just on my way back. Awesome game played in the right spirit. This New England are sensational. All the talk after the world cup regarding county cricket being broken and not providing the right environment to produce high quality England players is proving to be nonsense, pick the right players for the team and success will come! Fortune favours the brave.
IOWFOX Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Hard to judge just how this innings will stack up, but you would think that its looking good for us so far.
BoyJones Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 DL would never have set 7.4 runs per over before this series. Looks like the figure of 192 has been plucked out of the air, or the teams have agreed.
Donut Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 DL would never have set 7.4 runs per over before this series. Looks like the figure of 192 has been plucked out of the air, or the teams have agreed. DL would always increase the run rate in this scenario
Swarles Barkley Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Lose half the overs but only 91 runs. Thats makes perfect sense
