What was Pearson thinking?

I'm a Pearson fan but getting mightly pissed off with his love of Nugent, I want that bloke out this club.

As for starting with Nugent and Vardy today, well we got what we deserved.

The key to todays game was king and drinkwater. As soon as we realised we had to start those two, we might as well have thrown in the towel.

Anyone with any footballing sense can understand why Pearson went for pace against Stoke's defence, anyone saying he should have started Ulloa can they just point to one positive thing he did when he was on the pitch?

Lawrence instead of Albrighton was a strange one, and why he took off Nugent when we needed a goal I don't know.

Personally I would have started Ulloa and Albrighton after a couple of good performances and Schlupp coming back from injury, it also would have made sense to keep as settled a team as possible. But I'm not the boss and I didn't get to pick the team, the real issue was the midfield with both King and Drinkwater coming back from injury they both looked off the pace in the second half and we created nothing, nobody at any point played a decent ball for Vardy to run on to, Pearson's hands were tied with the midfield injury and suspension situation and that was where we were most lacking.

You start by saying anyone thinking of starting ulloa is deluded, then you go on to say you would have started ulloa!

As for what did ulloa do? Not a lot, but he has scored 8 goals this season. Are you thick? Are you stupid? Do you think two strikers with 2 goals in 23 games is good? Blind loyalty again, just incase you didn't get the memo - Vardy and Nugent are shit, and this isn't the championship.

You say 'Pearson went for pace' but when has Vardy's pace been effective at all this season? (Except a once in a lifetime Man Utd game). Ulloa would have held the ball up to help us retain possession.

You can't blame Ulloa or Kramaric for not making an impact when they came on. By then, with Stoke leading and sitting back, the game was gone.

Today Pearson got it wrong. So what? He's human.

I personally didn't see, with the players we had available, how he could have got it right in all honesty.

King and Drinkwater lost us the game.

Ulloa/Albrighton starting would not have made us more solid in the middle of the pitch.

The only thing we could of tried was dropping nuge and starting moore, pushing Was into a DM position.

And nugent has no pace

Pearson in, but not taking off Was when it was clear he wasn't tackling after his yellow led to Bojan's goal.

He shouldn't be sacked for our long-term interests, but his tactics and team selection single-handedly cost us 3 winnable points today

Tom Lawrence is the real life version of the 42 rated youth team players on Fifa, he's just crap and god knows why albrighton didn't come on ahead of him!!

THIS.

It was men against boys in midfield today.

Then we bring on Lawrence who looked like he's come out of Kindergarten.

For all his strong principles, sports science, old school management, great scouting network.....his tactics and substitutions are woeful.

Unfortunately, Pearson seems lets his loyalty to certain players cloud his judgement.

Don't get me wrong, loyalty to players is a good thing, but not when the selection decisions made are so obviously so far wide of the mark.

Agree, how konchesky and nugent get the nod week in week out, when both are so far out of their depth it's embarrassing.

De-leat has his faults but look ok against Liverpool at left back, and would be an improvement on konchesky, and anybody from the strikers from the under 21's to the bench strikers would be an improvement on nugent.

And yet we play better when he is in the side, ignoring today, every good performance has involved Nugent, because he supports the midfield, stopping us being overrun and linking up with the attack, the problem today was the midfield was non existent.

Schlupp was one our better players today, so you can't say he shouldn't have come in. Knockaert and Albrighton played well last week so you have to decide which one won't play. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

No.

Watch Bojan's performances, then watch Nugent's.

They both play in the same position, yet the level of performance is vastly different.

Bojan drifts into spaces, nugent doesn't. Bojan moves with the ball, Nugent doesn't. Bojan anticipates, nugent doesn't. Bojan looks a thread, nugent doesn't.

Lawerence ? Thought Gallagher had returned

I don't think in our situation we should leave out our top scorer because we want to try and attack a team in a different way. I don't rate Ulloa that highly, but he's been sticking the ball in the net much more than our other strikers and playing him and Albrighton surely would have offered more of a threat. Why change a front two that have got 3 wins out of 4?

Ultimately though, Stoke are a good team, better than people give them credit for. They have that bit of quality we lack and looked comfortable at 1-0 up. In the grand scheme of things a result like this is not unexpected or a disaster. It's not this game that'll send us down, it's the appalling run from October to December. I genuinely think we're growing into this league but we have left ourselves absolutely no room for mistakes, and unfortunately there were too many today.

That's a nail on head comment for me.

At what point did I call anyone deluded? Fvck me you need to learn to read. I will say it again in simpler terms.

I can understand why Pearson went for pace against Stoke, it didn't work.

Ulloa came on and did fvck all, if he had started and done fvck all people would have said Pearson got it wrong.

I would have picked Ulloa before the match and Albrighton because that would have been our strongest side in my opinion.

Nugent isn't shit but the way he is playing means he isn't going to score loads as he is playing much deeper.

Vardy is looking out of his depth but it doesn't help that he didn't have a decent ball to run on to and his pace will be an asset at times this season, sadly today wasn't one of them.

Top goalscorer should always start if you wanna win games, unless there's an issue.

Starting with a combined goal tally of 3 goals so far???...Strange

The Stoke defence must have been shitting themselves.....with laughter.

If we had Bojan I would play him ahead of Nugent, but we don't, there is no denying we look better with Nugent in the side playing that role, and our most effective front line has been Ulloa with Nugent behind him.

When we have someone better to play that role, then great play him.
