Weller in Tights Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 I know I just posted this elsewhere, but thought I'd just try it as a topic to see why people think Palace are such great role models? Postings of clips of 100-200 palace fans bouncing and clapping in a co-ordinated way!!! It's hardly Boca Juniors. I hate Palace fans. ( mind you I hate all other clubs fans). Do they think they are Lazio or Juve or some other 'Ultra' Euro bunch of bouncing twats. PLEASE. Do not do that Palace chant tomorrow. You just know the South London Prats will sing... " shall we show you how it's sung" Just take the piss out of these 'Pseudo Ultras'. I'm no wit, (as the few of you on here that know me will testify to), but there must be some chant we can do along the lines of... "Are you Juve in disguise, are you Juve in disguise?" I hate the attempt at copying Euro teams. I have said on here before that I love the passion of fans like Besiktas, Boca Juniors and Dynamo Zagreb. But that doesn't mean we should copy them. They are just trying to emulate 1970's English clubs. watch old tapes of Leeds, Spurs, chelsea in Europe. That was where these European Ultras picked up their ideas. Ok I'm one of the old Filbert Street crew who has rose tinted specs of the atmosphere in days of old. YES. It's true, old style singing and chants ( with that aggressive, Tribal edge) that's what I would like. Less of this 'Euro-pop' rubbish that Palace are pushing. Come on City fans, drown out those 'Euro' friendly Palace 'ultras' tomorrow.
lgfualol Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Their ultras at their ground were embarrassing.
Larry_LCFC Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Who is having a love in? Palace fans are role models if you want to be a stuck up cvnt with a superiority complex maybe.
Snooty Fox Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Great post, fully agree. These Fosse Boy/Union J types have got it in their heads that it's cool and trendy to wave a scarf around and make some queer noises to random European tunes and all they're achieving is making LCFC fanbase one of the most embarrassing in the league. Do we want to be viewed as a Palace, Brighton, Watford, Ipswich or Coventry or would you rather be seen as a Leeds, Sheff U, Luton, Stoke etc with proper fans who make an intimidating atmosphere? At Filbert Street it was the latter, here I'm afraid it's the former. If it wasn't for L and K blocks making some sort of a stand we would be the most embarrassing fans in the division. Fortunately Palace carry that mantel and we only have a small section in SK1 bringing that shit to Leicester.
Fox92 Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Sky hype it up, like they do Stoke's atmosphere (which was non-existent when we visited in September). Not to bothered personally. It's all opinion.
Dan Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 It's hard to deny their improvement as a fanbase from a vocal point of view. They aren't amazing but it's quite an improvement.
Benguin Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Tbf fair I know a few palace fans and they are lovely. That being said, if their train brakes down tomorrow and half their squad have the sensation a chicken gets when laying an egg when they're about to shoot I will be very happy.
Weller in Tights Posted 6 February 2015 Author Posted 6 February 2015 Having witnessed the crap atmosphere from Liverpool fans at Anfield and the laughable 'singing section' in the corner next to the City fans at Old Trafford (whatever happened to the famous Strettford End). I really do dispair at the state of the atmosphere at English grounds. Those of you that criticise the atmosphere at the King Power, do you go to other grounds??? Seriously, we really aren't that bad relatively, compared to other grounds this season. Compared to 10,000 at Filbert Street, yes, it's poor. Compared to Anfield? Shit, we're like Boca Juniors.
Dan Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 I definitely think we're one of the better in the Premier League but I wouldn't go as far as saying I'm content with the atmosphere. Standards are at an all time low in this country. In-fact at some games now it doesn't even sound like the football.
Voll Blau Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Copying chants you've seen the HF do on youtube is mongy in the extreme. Hope to fvck people don't join in with WLY when they inevitably start it. That said, you can't deny the effect the group has had on the rest of their fanbase over the past few years. Plus they throw a fair bit of decent original material into the mix, which is something we could do with more often. If the best we can cob back at them is "Are you Juve in disguise" or similar we really ought to be taking a look at our own fan culture rather than having a dig at theirs.

Snooty Fox Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 what's wrong with Ipswich? Shit, poncey fans.
Harry - LCFC Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Just nice to see someone trying. I'm not keen on the style they've adopted but it's hard to hate on them when, unlike a lot of clubs, they actually do something.
Guest MattP Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 We may as well be honest and just admit everything is embarrassing in this country now regarding fans trying to be intimidating, it's a combination of a different breed of supporter and authorities who have caused it, players aren't going to be intimidated taking a corner when fans are 20 metres away and even they are women, kids and disabled. Just look at Boca or San Lorenzo in Argentina, eastern europe sometimes does it, Gremio in Brazil, even North Africa and Turkey, they are now the only places genuinely intimidating. I was cringing last week when I saw journalists asking Pochetino if he was worried about the atmosphere at Bramall Lane. He looked embarrassed when replying he'd played away in Colombia where you couldn't hear or see for 90 mins because of fireworks and flares then had to lie on the floor of the coach after the game as every window was put through before switching coaches on a side street to avoid the same going onto the motorway out. One of the biggest things I've noticed in ten years away is how quiet PL grounds are now, it's louder at the rugby or cricket half the time. The bloke asking it genuinely seemed to be think he's be scared of a 13 year old from Rotherham who was releasing a red and white balloon before kick off.
Danno Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Shit, poncey fans. imagine getting angry about people chanting to try and get their team to perform better.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Half the people that go to the football these days film ****ing throw ins and spend the majority of the game checking their bets, its no wonder the atmosphere is gash

I'm not remotely intimidated by anything in England.

Why would you pay £40+ to stand there and record a game?

SecretPro Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 Atmosphere at premier league football will always be shit as long as they keep outpricing the working classes with astronomical ticket prices and employing no swearing policies and letting 2/3 year olds fill up the stands. Sure I will get stick for this but it is a fact.
PAULCFC Posted 6 February 2015 Posted 6 February 2015 lot of clubs are PDC away and BDO at home. Great quote!!!! Went to the unibet last saturday afternoon with my 4 year old son....brilliant atmosphere.Puts into some sort of perspective when i asked him if he wanted to go to Old Trafford for us or Darts and see Peter Wright! To be honest i'd probably sooner watch the darts than football at the moment

But anyone could tell you that.
