stox259 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I firmly believe that Nigel Pearson is the best man to take the club forward long term. Even if/when we get relegated I think he is the best man with a proven record to get us back up. But if he did go what viable replacement do you believe is better? For the record. The first person to say Neil Lennon or Tony Pullis i believe is clueless.
Raj Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Great thread-Dont think its been covered. Neil Lennon or Tony Pulis id go for.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I'd seriously take a look at Eddie Howe. Neil Lennon would be the obvious choice. But Howe seems a very level headed young man. I like him.
Bayfox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I'd seriously take a look at Eddie Howe. Neil Lennon would be the obvious choice. But Howe seems a very level headed young man. I like him. the same eddie howe who failed at burnley and couldn't wait to get back down south to Bournemouth. for the record I grant you he is doing a good job. if we sack pearson, which I still don't think the owners will unless we look like not coming straight back next season. the 1 good thing about franchise fc is karl robinson.

Not going to happen.. He'll be managing Bournemouth in the premier league next season....If Tim Sherwood doesn't end up at QPR, then he's a decent shout..
Lcfc_1995 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I would say Karl Robinson or Eddie Howe, but don't think they would join us as they're doing do well at their clubs and look like they are getting promoted

He didn't really fail at Burnley. I think? he chose to go back to Bournemouth didn't he. And Howe actually laid the foundations for ol Gravel throat..Most of his better signings were actually Eddie Howe signings.
lee7 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Tim Sherwood if QPR don't take him. He plays the type of style football that fans like to see.
goose2010 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 So basically no one that has experience/ same experience as Pearson? So yeah no point at all getting rid would be a crazy choice
yorkie1999 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I honestly can't think of a manager who would be considerably better and is available
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I don't get the love for Tim Sherwood, whats he actually achieved in management? Maybe he had potential, but that's all.
cjslcfc Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 My shortlist would include the following: Eddie Howe - I think he's a fantastic young manager but Bournemouth will probably be in the Premier League Steve McClaren - Likes to play football the right way. Doing really well at Derby without that much backing. Neil Lennon - Legend at the club. Would make us very difficult to beat. Has experience at Champions League level. Would definitely want to come here I'm sure. Aitor Karanka - Again, doing a fantastic job at Middlesbrough. Think he has a great LT future in the game with his coaching experience under Mourinho, amongst others. Those 4 are all possibilities. Lennon the most likely and I certainly wouldn't be averse to us hiring him at all. Sherwood I'm unsure because of his lack of managerial experience but he'd maybe be worth a gamble.
ADK Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 This is where the Pearson out arguments fall apart. Nobody can ever name anyone who is likely to be better who is realistically available.

So all you've done there is name the managers of the top 3 teams in the championship! And someone who is trying his best to send Bolton down, when has a club legend ever gone to a club and it's turned out a good move for all involved?!
Unabomber Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 This is where the Pearson out arguments fall apart. Nobody can ever name anyone who is likely to be better who is realistically available. exactly
lcfcsnow Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 A Pochettino/Koeman type from abroad, new ideas. Some may see it as a risk but if you have a knowledgeable board as Southampton seem to do they'd be aware of potential candidates and avoid the Pepe Mels. No point going for someone unemployed, they are for a reason. How about someone already here, Idiakez? Doing a marvellous job with the youth by all accounts and will help bring them through unlike mr stubborn.
foxfanazer Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Quite like Steve Clarke to be honest but think we should stick with Nige
Stadt Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Quite like Steve Ckarke to be honest but think we should stick with NigeYeah Steve ckarke is decent
lcfcsnow Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Quite like Steve Ckarke to be honest but think we should stick with Nige Boring, would somehow outdo his predecessor.
RedSoxUK Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 We would be mad to get rid of Nigel. There's no reason why we can't build on the team he's put together, with the experience and plan in place to march on the Prem the following year (if we do go down and keep a bulk of the 1st team here.) There's nobody I would want other than Nigel Pearson, or Karanka, who's done an excellent job re-building Middlesbrough in to a competitive winning team.
foxfanazer Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Boring, would somehow outdo his predecessor.Ok lets get Ollie back
