Who would you have instead of Pearson?

He didn't really fail at Burnley. I think? he chose to go back to Bournemouth didn't he. And Howe actually laid the foundations for ol Gravel throat..Most of his better signings were actually Eddie Howe signings.

Eddie Howe signed Danny Ings!!!

So all you've done there is name the managers of the top 3 teams in the championship! And someone who is trying his best to send Bolton down, when has a club legend ever gone to a club and it's turned out a good move for all involved?!

Errrrrr well sorry for stating the bleeding obvious but aren't those the people best placed to take a job at a club like ours. If Pearson was to go, as the OP asked, then I believe those 4 people would have a chance of doing a better job than Pearson with our squad and resources.

I think you're mistaking me for someone who actively wants Pearson out. I'm firmly in the camp of keeping him at the club, actually. The question asked who I thought could do a better job IF Pearson were to be sacked. I genuinely answered it with those candidates because they are all realistic and have done fantastic jobs at the clubs they are at (Lennon aside so far but I think he is a good manager).

It didn't ask who would I rather have than Pearson didi it?! Out of all the options I'd rather have Pearson! That's not what was asked though...

I wanted Pearson gone ages ago when Neil Lennon was still available. He's doing really well with a terrible bolton team, has experience of making lesser teams hard to beat (Bolton and Celtic in the Champions League).

Tim Sherwood would be a decent shout now.

Failing that then i'd probably take about anyone. If they can select our best 11 then that's one better than Pearson already

But should we go down then there is no one better suited than Nigel.

Tim Sherwood or Michael Laudrup. Know everyone is going to say; 'Oh you moron...what the **** do you think Tim Sherwood is going to bring us?'

As I said a few weeks ago, he nurtured a young Spurs team that is now doing well, made Harry Kane look half decent (something Pearson failed to do) and has a similar philosophy to Nigel in bringing in through younger players but I believe his managerial style has the capabilities to take us further in the long term than Nigel could. Nigel, ALWAYS, reverts to long ball football. I looked at the clock yesterday and we did it in the 60th Minute, yes...the 60TH minute! I understand perhaps for the last 10 or so minutes when you really need to go all at it but for 30 minutes why play solely long ball football? Our defending is appalling; I've seen Shepshed Dynamo put in better defensive displays over the years and that is saying something. He is too loyal to certain players and very dismissive of others. Take a handful of the people he has managed over the years who has dropped for just daring to question his judgement and although it appeared to be done in jest, I can believe he has another side from yesterday's events. I just think we have got to do something (not to necessarily salvage our season) but begin a new direction our club.

Nigel is the best manager we have had since MON on paper, but Martin is - in my view - twice, if not three times the man, Nigel ever will be.

I don't understand why some fans on this forum are under the impression that if we were to get relegated then Pearson would be able to bring us straight back up? So many teams have been relegated and failed to regain promotion at the first time of asking.

It is rare that a team bounce straight back up!

The fact that in 3 full seasons in that league he has been in the play offs twice and walked away with the league once while having no where near the best squad might have something to do with it.

Can people stop comparing Pearson and O'Neill.

Until Pearson wins a cup/consolidates us in the Premier League surely he can't come close to Martin O'Neill.

We can laud Pearson for what he's done for the club in the past without having to refer to O'Neill. Nige deserves respect and praise in his own right without being undermined by the "nowhere near as good as O'Neill" argument.

MON was a right manipulative bastard behind the scenes and caused various rifts at board level. That is a fact.

The difficultly is for anyone coming in now realistically there's a good chance joining us in our current position would see a relegation on their CV and having to manage a division lower next season.

So you can take out all of the managers within the top 6 of the Championship, you can ignore Sherwood who has previously turned down second tier clubs and you are left with a pretty difficult bunch to pick from of guys out of the game far too long. And this manager has to work with the current crop of players who were nearly all brought in by Pearson and most had contract renewals under him.

It is totally unrealistic to expect any changes now.

See the thread "accusations of hiding" for my long answer on why I think we are a different case to a lot of relegated teams.

Possibly, depends if he starts tinkering too much again or on how much the squad changes over the summer.

Any manager really should have been aiming to get promoted with the squad we had last season, what pearson accomplished with all the records was obviously brilliant and one step further than what was expected.

I loved Pearson for what he managed last season but i've never really liked him as a manager/person because of how smug and arrogant he is. I could accept it last season when we were flying high but i don't know how he can continue to be so arrogant when we are bottom of the table and a lot of it is his fault.

Have you met the man? If not I'm not sure how you can not like him as a person?

We will see how Sherwood gets on at QPR shall we? Because I can almost guarantee that they will still get relegated with him and charge, so I guess that will be a good comparison.

Yeah and most of those teams sack their managers before relegation so not sure what point you're trying to make

I have to be honest, I have heard some stories about Nigel too that are less than flattering. I really believe his little 'joke' at the end may have shown a side to Nigel that  is quite nasty that marry up to some of his conduct towards certain ex-players who dared to question him.

My problem with the 'Pearson out' brigade is that their arguments would make sense if we were getting outplayed every week, losing 3-0 every week and were 10pts adrift of safety.

But that is not happening. We are in the beginning of February. There is a lot of football to be played. We are not relegated.

City supporters of old would acknowledge the efforts of our team, relish the underdog status and vocally support the team during the big games coming up.

Its not ****ing finished yet you self entitled deluded moaning c*nts.

Pundits and opposition fans aren't writing us off yet so why the **** are you?

Stop talking about the manager and ****ing get on with it.

Some of you have become typical Premier League fans. Arrogant with ideas above your stations. We are in a relegation battle and always were going to be. ****ing deal with it.

Fans my arse.

Have you? Having met the man I can confirm he is a great guy.

A lot of teams bounce back when the conditions are right. West Ham, Newcastle, West Brom. A lot of the time teams go down with duff managers who were brought in as desperate measures or they are in financial trouble or some other turmoil or simply small clubs who have had a dose of reality.

Didn't see the fact he was going there so good luck to him.

I understand why some of you are so opposed to getting rid of him but at least I have always been quite honest in the fact I have never been Nigel's biggest fan. I bet I would have loved the Bloomfield era like my Dad did but I know some people signed petitions to get rid of him so its all down to personal taste in management styles and football etc.
