NP's Press Conference - 14.30 GMT

Pearson won't say sorry even if he'd killed McArthur. We've always loved Nigel's no nonsense approach but when things are going wrong he can be horribly pig headed. I'm fairly certain his days are numbered as I foresee a toxic environment developing and no happy ending. Whether it happens this week or 8 weeks, I don't think he'll see out the season and for that reason I hope he's gone very soon. He's lost his sparkle, we have been far too naive this season and his tactics have perplexed me. His failure to address our inability to defend and attack set pieces is simply unacceptable. This has been a big problem for his whole tenure. Our defensive frailties have surprised me, I assumed as an ex-defender he'd have work as hard as possible to get this area water tight. He seems to think playing 3-4 strikers is how to win games which I've seldom seen work at top level. Our severe lack of goals highlights this, couple that with embarrassing errors at the back and it's grim viewing.

Time to go.

There was nothing serious in that "incident", as both sides have declared it a "joke" and even McArthur admitted there was nothing in it.

I can't understand why people would want to use that to somehow illustrate Pearson's frailties or his downsides, as if he hadn't had any before he took over.

One can equally accuse some of the players having "lost their sparkle" or that individual errors proved costly more than anything else.

Defensive frailties there may be, but I can see two teams with a worse goals-against record at the moment and they both are - surprise, surprise - the other two teams promoted alongside us. Personally, I see bigger issues in midfield and up front, with either a lack of composure and professionalism in front of goal or the inability to string two decent passes together have resulted in us simply not scoring enough goals.

Before the match of the day boost would a 27-odd year old girl have been interested in a 47-odd year old crisp peddler? what would you think if your dad binned your ma off because he wanted a piece of snatch 20 years younger than him? i'm sorry, it looks creepy and desperate. you've got old and wrinkled, get over it and do it gracefully.

hahaa, i can only imagine how long youve wanted a chance to have that little outburst!

money & success = pick of the bunch im afraid. thats life kid!

This is all getting very messy and depressing - and nobody comes out of it looking good.

- Lineker hasn't "defended" MOTD, he has avenged himself & MOTD against NP with LCFC suffering collateral damage to its reputation. If Lineker had wanted to "defend" MOTD, he could have limited himself to justifying the programme's examination of NP's touchline conduct....and NP's touchline conduct was highly questionable, to say the least.

- NP has handled the media really badly over this; I can believe that he didn't intend to be aggressive when he grabbed McArthur - I'd imagine that he meant to be jokey with a bit of a macho edge, but don't blame McArthur at all for taking it the wrong way when a large man suddenly pins him to the ground when all he wants to do is get on with the match. Silly of NP to hang onto his shirt, too, but that could all have been defused if NP had just laughed it off and maybe expressed regret over any misunderstanding. Instead, he made that ridiculous "I can look after myself" comment, making things worse. And did he really need to make sarky comments about MOTD's "fountains of knowledge"....whatever he thinks of them (and most media pundits offer little insight), they were perfectly justified in examining his bizarre conduct - and bizarre post-match comment.

- And WTF is going on at board level? I understand that there can be differences of opinion within a board or a family, but surely there has to be a clear decision-making process? Surely, a senior employee can only be told they're sacked once a final decision has been taken? I'm assuming that Lineker's snide, shit-stirring tweet is true (he could be subject to disciplinary action by the BBC or - hypothetically - libel action by the club if not, and I can't believe he'd be that reckless).

What this now does to the squad and the club is what matters most. I imagine that the squad are going to be well aware of what's gone on. Will it strengthen their resolve to win points and stay up, or damage their confidence? Will they now view NP as having lost authority, almost a dead man walking?

I really hope that there is now a strong response on the pitch, and that the club can get back on track, preferably with NP still at the helm, to pull this season back out of the fire - or be in a strong position to bounce back in 15/16.

I also hope that everyone mentioned, from Pearson to Lineker via the Thais, quickly learns to act wisely in the interests of the club, instead of taking ill-considered actions or acting/speaking in their own personal interests.

This - yes wtf is going on - i dont care if there is a frickin time difference as stated on 5live and Sky this evening between Vichai and Top - get on the phone and fricking discuss it one to one

i've seen you and a few others say this recently, based on what? the players are and always have been a million percent behind him, when at the game it appears the fans are at least 90% behind him, and nobody has a clue what the owners think. just because a few media folk are trying to stir the pot doesn't mean there's a complete breakdown on the way.

if any of the players were disrupting the dressing room environment or the fans were booing every kick of the ball then maybe i'd agree. and even when it was clear the environment was that "toxic" (12/13) they still didn't sack him?

mesmerising?

Thank you. It would appear the spell-checker wasn't working but you've cleared that up for me.

Younger women love a man who can spell! Maybe you've got a chance yet!

Pearson is A dictator. Times up.

Dictators usually don't have a penchant for freedom of speech.

So you're out.

Another comment, with no intent other than to provoke. Mods... Do your jobs...

yeah i was thinking that. i'd have no problem with lineker responding, if someone had a little dig at me and my job i'd have a dig back, whether they were part of the team i support or not.

but the comment he made was ridiculous. imagine if it had been stringer who'd said it.

I think Pearson's made a silly mistake having a snipe at Lineker regardless of what he thinks (and I personally think Lineker was right to question what he did). Regardless of what you think of Lineker, just don't get on the wrong side of him. He's Leicester's most known fan. He's the biggest name who surrounds the club. If you take him on then you'll lose.

But I'm amazed someone of that stature has revealed information like that. To be honest I'm actually more annoyed tonight than last night. We've produced a Forest/Leeds-like saga and I thought we were far better than that.

Can't believe what's happened to us. Utter implosion.

hahahaha that sums the man up. hero.

“My cat was sitting on my knee all afternoon, I was like Blofeld,” said Pearson. “I spent the day at home. There was a Canadian folk band at the Greystones pub. They weren’t very good.”

certainly different to sky's "we know for a fact he was at the king power saying his goodbyes".

Yes shame he wasn't reading his tactics book on how to beat the gunners

Is  that the one that has an accompanying brochure about our fans and their fountains of knowledge? Easy task, enlighten me on the content?

I doubt your old man would become successful enough to find out.

SAF was a "dictator". What a horrible thing that turned out to be for Man Utd

Don't listen to Pearson press conferences anymore, so predictable, it's all " I'm not talking about this, or that", blah, blah, blah, fine margins.

10 minutes of arrogance and excuses have worn a little thin now, the bloke and his antics, and the negative publicity around him and the club have made us an embarrassment.

How on earth people can take Nigel bleeding Pearson's side over Gary Lineker's is outrageous. You people are deluded, apart from Nigel achieving exactly what has been expected of him he has failed to over achieve in any aspect of his job and this legendary status he has amongst some fans is embarrassing and totally unjustified.

Wait, you're basing your opinion on who has more of a status at the club? This is why I can't take dire posters like you seriously lol
