ScouseFox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 all id say on this whole "one board member sacked him the other said come back" is that I'm pretty sure nigel is a man of principle and would not be messed about. if anyone on the board had told him to leave I can't for the life of me see him going and then doing a U turn when asked. he seems way too much like if anyone had dared question his role he'd say "no up yours you had me you lost me, good day".
Guest Bilo Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I'm just disappointed his press conference wasn't like this.

Guest Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Don't know if this has been posted yet...the whole sky view on it. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11712/9707476/premier-league-leicester-boss-nigel-pearson-refuses-to-comment-on-sack-reports So Rob Dorset is still clinging to his story and trying to regain some credibility then
Webbo Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 FULL TRANSCRIPT OF NIGEL PEARSON'S PRESS CONFERENCE Nigel Pearson strolls into the media lounge at the King Power Stadium and pours a cup of tea… NP: 'We've got a few here today. Has something happened? Bit of interest?' Sits down, tells one TV reporter he has a 'stern face' today… Q: Nigel what happened yesterday [sunday]? NP: 'The club's made a statement and I'm not really going to speak, I'm going to disappoint you all now. I'm not going to speak about it. We've got a game tomorrow [Tuesday] and it's important that my focus and the focus of my players is on what we can do tomorrow [Tuesday] night, rather than talk about something that I'm not really prepared to talk about.' Q: We were told you'd lost your job, were you told the same? NP: 'I've just said I'm not going to talk about it. I'm here, the players trained and we're looking forward to the game against Arsenal. There we are. Do you want to try another way to ask the same question?' Q: Have you been given any reassurances about your job? NP: 'I've had conversations, yes.' Q: Is there a reason why you don't want to talk about it? NP: 'No. I'm prepared to look forward to the next game. I can't see mileage in me discussing yesterday.' Q: Do you feel let down? NP: 'In regard to what?' Q: It took a while for the LCFC statement to come out… NP: 'What I feel myself and if I've got things to say I'll say in the appropriate manner to the appropriate people. I'm here, preparing for the game…' (Interruption) NP: 'I've been asked a question, let me finish, please. That's how I'm moving forward.' Q: Is it difficult to sit here in this position? NP: 'It's always very interesting to see more people here than normal and it's normally when there's speculation or a different kind of a story. So, I suppose, you're all journos. News is new, isn't it?' Q: Has your relationship with the board been damaged? NP: 'Again, I don't think I've ever been in position where speak openly about what goes on with the internal workings. I've always had a very good working relationship with the owners and I'm sure I will going forward. The bottom line is that you never going to have a situation at any club where things are going entirely the way you want. We are currently at the bottom of the league. There is speculation, but unfortunately, sometimes, stories like this break. For me, I have to continue to lead the players and anything that would be counter-productive to getting our preparation as good as can be for tomorrow [Tuesday] night will detract from what trying to do. In ideal world I'd rather story not out there but it's out there and I have to deal with that.' Q: Do you know how it got out? NP: 'You'll have to ask someone else.' Q: 'Does it hurt way it was dealt with? NP: 'You're making assumptions again. Look, all I'm saying is this: I am today managing this football club as I have for least three and quarter years and I am looking to prepare my team the best way possible for a big game at Arsenal. And that, really is all you're going to get from me today. 'I understand the interest and I understand the questions but I have loyalties to the people I work for and to my staff and players which is more important to me than trying to clarify things for a story based on speculation.' Q: Can we go back to the two disciplinary incidents, the one with the fan and the one with the player? NP: 'If you have to…' Q: Do they obscure the focus of getting away from relegation? NP: 'I don't see it like that.' Q: But they're not helpful are they? NP: 'It's not helpful when the three fountains of knowledge on Match of the Day make a mountain out of a molehill. There's nothing in that on Saturday. The lad's OK. It was very light-hearted. How it was reported yesterday was totally inaccurate. Our owners are fine, as they were with the incident with the fan. So, you're looking for news that's not there.' Q: But you were banned by the FA and fined… NP: 'Yes possibly, well, definitely that happened but...' Q: And you did say, afterwards with the player that he'd said something so aren't you continuing the argument? NP: 'No, I've put it to bed and so has he. You're continuing it by asking the questions.' Q: It's a press conference. NP: 'Yes, exactly, and I'm telling you there's no problem. Is that alright with you?' Q: Yes, fine, what about the Arsenal game, you obviously want to talk about that… NP: 'I'd like to yeah…' Q: Given your recent run, that becomes a very important game for you… NP: 'They're all important. We played very well at the weekend. We were unlucky not to win. The games like Arsenal, Man United, Man City in some way bonus games for sides like ourselves but we've got to get our performances such that we have chances to get something from these games. The spirit inside the dressing room remains very, very good. I have to give the players credit for way perform in a positive way bearing in mind the situation we've been in for a while now. It's about us trying to replicate those performances but get the end product to become more positive. It becomes very irritating when your peers are saying how well you played but don't get those elusive wins. 'We know looking at Saturday's game for instance, there were lots of positives, but unfortunately it's about points and whenever you don't pick points up then clearly any speculation out there is probably intensified.' Q: You have very good support among the supporters but have these recent incidents eroded the faith they have in you? NP: 'I'm not aware of that. You talk about these disciplinary things. Well, one was and one wasn't. Some people criticise me for not being animated enough, for sitting in stands and not showing any passion. I come down, get involved in a couple of situations and all of a sudden, it's a slightly different angle. 'I'm a human being and I will make mistakes from time to time but what I will say is that any mistakes I make are very honest ones. And I don't have any regrets. The first one, yes, I would probably choose not to handle it in exactly the same way. But certainly no apology.' Q: Are you confident you'll be at the club until the end of the season? NP: 'Yes of course I am. Again, I'm always happy to take the responsibility that management and being a manager brings. You can't go into managerial job and expect it to go exactly how you want it all the time. I've had a few ups and downs here and sometimes as a manager you have be prepared to shoulder slightly more responsibility than might like at times but more than happy to do that because it's my team, I'm proud of how the players go about their job. Yes, we'd all like to have better results at the moment. But there's still a strong belief amongst us.' Q: Did you have to talk to the players about what we reported and other media organisations reported? NP: 'We have meetings on a Monday morning. Not specifically about that. It was just a general chat about turning positive performances into results. I may or may not have spoken about the weekend in its entirety. I had an interesting Sunday.' Q: Has it affected your staff as you're very close to them? NP: 'I would hope so. You know we're a very tight group, players and staff alike, very supportive of each other. We all want the club to do well.' Q: Surely you can acknowledge there's mileage in this story for everyone else? NP: 'Absolutely, that's why you're here.' Q: It would be remiss if we weren't? NP: 'All I've said is that the club have made their statement and I am happy to prepare my side for the next game. Which is Arsenal.' Q: Do you understand we will continue to delve? NP: 'Absolutely.' Q: You can put it all to bed…. NP: 'And do what?' Q: Tell us what happened? NP: 'No, I don't feel the need or the right thing to do for me now. Simple as that.' Q: Did owners criticise you for those two incidents? NP: 'No. No. No.' Q: The club statement said the stories of sacking were inaccurate and without foundation, were they? NP: 'I've already answered that same question, earlier. And I'm not really prepared to say any more on the subject. I'm preparing my team for an important game.' Q: You called it speculation… 'It's speculations because it's assumptions being made in the media.' Q: Will you tell all one day, perhaps, in a book, maybe? NP: 'I wouldn't have thought so. You would want my book would you?' Q: It took four hours to put the story to bed so it must have fuelled a fire… NP: 'That's not really for me to comment on. The time-scale, in terms of the response is not really my area, is it?' Q: Is it because some of the key people were in Thailand? NP: 'I don't know, possibly.' Q: Didn't you want to know when you heard the rumour? NP: 'Yeah, I knew before it was all... you know… the timescale was a lot different for me. Put it like that.' Q: Were you dismayed when you heard the allegation? NP: 'It happens from time to time. Listen, I'm not prepared to talk anymore about it. I'm sorry.' Q: You said the incident with James McArthur was blown out of all proportion… NP: 'Yes, I think the lad did as well.' Q: What exactly did happen? NP: 'It was all very light-hearted. If you see a number of the pictures, there are smiles. These things happen. I have had both my knees replaced, you know. I did take quite a nasty tumble. But we're fine. He's a likeable lad and good luck to him. And, I think he dealt with it very well himself afterwards. He was very quick to point out there was nothing malicious going on.' Q: Would you describe it as a playful incident? NP: 'It's up to you. Playful…' Q: Was it you two messing about? NP: 'Yes.' Q: Is there any team news? NP: 'Oh, wow, is there any team news. Well, we don't have any injuries. Thank you for that.' Q: Has it been difficult to prepare the team? NP: 'It's been slightly different but there you are, with a camera crew outside the training ground, as you'd expect. But the players have been great. Nice day to train. Looking forward to the game. put Saturday out of our minds and move on.' Q: Arsenal is a difficult place to go… NP: 'Yes, very. Good team, super stadium, looking forward to going there but we need to get some points.' ADK Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 It just proves that the Pearson lovers are all the kids and regrettably the next generation of supporters for this great club, it's a shame really because THE CLUB deserves better. Jimmy Bloomfield, Matt Gillies, Martin O'Neill, Mickey Adams, Gordon Milne and Brian Little. There's six better then Pearson off the top of my head. I really wouldn't call Little or Adams better than Pearson I think you could argue for parity between them at a pinch. The others were before my time, only O'Neil has been better than Pearson so far, and with a bit of luck Pearson could still push on and surpass him.

cjslcfc Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 all id say on this whole "one board member sacked him the other said come back" is that I'm pretty sure nigel is a man of principle and would not be messed about. if anyone on the board had told him to leave I can't for the life of me see him going and then doing a U turn when asked. he seems way too much like if anyone had dared question his role he'd say "no up yours you had me you lost me, good day". He's probably more thoughtful when it comes down to how much money he is on, the financial security for his family, him not wanting to look like a quitter etc... I don't think even then he could be as stubborn as to walk out on the opportunity he has at LCFC. Can't see many PL clubs hiring him if he does...
Bayfox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Pearson better then Adams? You were clearly too young to remember the Adams era. Achieved in two seasons what Pearson has in five. Not only that but we actually made a fight of staying in the Premier League under Adams as opposed to being hopeless under Pearson, and he did it on a budget of naff all. If you weren't there to witness it at least do your research. a fist of staying up. that's a blue tinted view of it. the only difference is we occasionally had a lead to chuck away. a fist of staying up is not being 3 up at wolves and still getting the thick end of **** all out the game. newcastle, spurs etc all went the same way and it started on the opening day when we chucked away a 2 goal lead v Southampton.
queensguardfox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I see we are still fighting amongst ourselves..... classic

Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Bloody Apichet. He's always going around sacking people.
Pen 3 Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 One thing for sure whatever your views on NP, we're now the laughing stock of the PL, christ who would have thought we'ed be imploding like this this time last year? One thing going down, another tearing ourselves apart doing it...at this rate we'll being go the same way as Blackpool did before you can say "at least Forest are in a mess too.." Whatever you're views on NP i look forward to us coming back together in happier days in the future....
cjslcfc Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Looking at that transcript I'd say he handled the press conference very well. Watching it he did look fairly uncomfortable but I guess it was hard not to...
catfordfox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Just saw sky's sports interview Still got the stupid grin on his face. A matter of time I think,he knows it too TBH i think this is one of the reasons why some fans don't like him, why the media can't really get their heads round him - i reckon he thinks that 90% of the circus around the premier league is pretty ridiculous, and doesn't actually take it that seriously. Which to be fair to him, it is. He's got a life outside football, he's got a bit of perspective, and he's not really a laddy joker 'can i be your best mate' guy like Redknapp etc, which doesn't really it in with how the media want to portray football. I respect him for it, as awkward as it looks sometimes, much rather than that than some 'pashun' merchant or Holloway-style gagmeister As for Adams being better than Pearson - no chance. Shocking hoofball under Adams, you think Morgan's calamity, at least we don't let last minute goals let in in virtually every game. That team would get utterly destroyed in this league, which, bottom or not, we haven't this year (yet). And not for one moment to underestimate what MON did for us, I very much doubt he'd be capable of doing what he did back then in this league. His record over the past 5 years in the Prem certainly hasnt been that good. It's a totally different game and league now than it was in the 1990s, almost like watching a different sport entirely at times (eg what constitutes a penalty for example, or the overall speed of the game), and any comparison of managers' records has to take that in account
stingray Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I really wouldn't call Little or Adams better than Pearson I think you could argue for parity between them at a pinch. Guest Col city fan Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I'm surprised at the comments aimed at the MOTD pundits. Does Nige think he can take on the world? Lineker is a man who's opinions I've always agreed with. And a staunch Leicester City fan. Whatever Pearson's motives, he's picking fights with the wrong people.
theessexfox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I think the transcript reveals a lot more than the quotes picked out by various media outlets.
Collibosher70 Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 very worrying when gary lineker Leicester born and bred..fan..player for club and country gets criticised...appears that pearson really can do no wrong
Tielemans63 Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 This is all getting very messy and depressing - and nobody comes out of it looking good. - Lineker hasn't "defended" MOTD, he has avenged himself & MOTD against NP with LCFC suffering collateral damage to its reputation. If Lineker had wanted to "defend" MOTD, he could have limited himself to justifying the programme's examination of NP's touchline conduct....and NP's touchline conduct was highly questionable, to say the least. - NP has handled the media really badly over this; I can believe that he didn't intend to be aggressive when he grabbed McArthur - I'd imagine that he meant to be jokey with a bit of a macho edge, but don't blame McArthur at all for taking it the wrong way when a large man suddenly pins him to the ground when all he wants to do is get on with the match. Silly of NP to hang onto his shirt, too, but that could all have been defused if NP had just laughed it off and maybe expressed regret over any misunderstanding. Instead, he made that ridiculous "I can look after myself" comment, making things worse. And did he really need to make sarky comments about MOTD's "fountains of knowledge"....whatever he thinks of them (and most media pundits offer little insight), they were perfectly justified in examining his bizarre conduct - and bizarre post-match comment. - And WTF is going on at board level? I understand that there can be differences of opinion within a board or a family, but surely there has to be a clear decision-making process? Surely, a senior employee can only be told they're sacked once a final decision has been taken? I'm assuming that Lineker's snide, shit-stirring tweet is true (he could be subject to disciplinary action by the BBC or - hypothetically - libel action by the club if not, and I can't believe he'd be that reckless). What this now does to the squad and the club is what matters most. I imagine that the squad are going to be well aware of what's gone on. Will it strengthen their resolve to win points and stay up, or damage their confidence? Will they now view NP as having lost authority, almost a dead man walking? I really hope that there is now a strong response on the pitch, and that the club can get back on track, preferably with NP still at the helm, to pull this season back out of the fire - or be in a strong position to bounce back in 15/16. I also hope that everyone mentioned, from Pearson to Lineker via the Thais, quickly learns to act wisely in the interests of the club, instead of taking ill-considered actions or acting/speaking in their own personal interests. Spot on as usual Alf.
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Spot on as usual Alf. I concur. Alf is spot on yet again
MPH Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Pearson better then Adams? You were clearly too young to remember the Adams era. Achieved in two seasons what Pearson has in five. Not only that but we actually made a fight of staying in the Premier League under Adams as opposed to being hopeless under Pearson, and he did it on a budget of naff all. ScouseFox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I'm surprised at the comments aimed at the MOTD pundits. Does Nige think he can take on the world? Lineker is a man who's opinions I've always agreed with. And a staunch Leicester City fan. Whatever Pearson's motives, he's picking fights with the wrong people except he's not really picking fights with anyone. people are picking fights with him and he's either defending his team and himself (stringer, radio leicester etc) or telling them how it is, both he and mccarthy are fine with whatever happened so why try and make a story out of nothing? he gets asked questions about it, he'd get just as much stick if he said "no comment" or something similar. motd really did make a mountain out of a molehill, pearson is right.
