GTF to Millwall on Loan

An absurd waste of money offering him a contract in the summer. Appalling judgement from Pearson resigning a player who would be utterly useless in the premier league.

He played the required amount of games last season to trigger a one-year contract extension

Seeing him in the midfield at Stamford Bridge is one of the most bemusing things I've ever seen as a City fan.

Didn't we have injury problems at that time though? Pearson probably didn't have any other options.

And to whoever said we shouldn't have given him another year, it was triggered by making 20 appearances the season before, nothing Pearson could do.

He started at Huddersfield and came on as sub against Doncaster, Reading and Brighton. All of those games were played after we had been promoted. Had Pearson not used him in these games, he would not have triggered the renewal clause in his contract. So in fact there was plenty Pearson could have done to avoid this situation. Tuna is spot on.

Exactly! But why was he featuring in nothing games like Huddersfield away when we knew what was in the contract.

True, although he played a blinder that day and scored the opener if I remember rightly.

Feel bad for the guy as a new deal gave him hope of being involved but they must have known that wouldn't be the case! Not sure why we gave him a new deal. A loan is probably best for all parties.

He appeared 22 times in the league for us last season (20 as sub). I'm guessing that 20 was the golden number, so who gives a flying **** if he played at Huddersfield?

You really think Pearson would have made those decisions based on whether it will trigger his clause or not? of course not. How dumb.

He played his part last year and you could argue he earned his extension regardless to his apps, he seems like a good guy, fairly recent top level experience and an all round good guy to have with the kids. I also doubt his wages are huge or a drain.

He played really well at Chelsea, why isn't he given a chance by Pearson?

:D

Spot on. Didn't need to trigger that extension at all.

To be fair, he probably covered about five positions just with his size alone. Big boned, not overweight.
