purpleronnie Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 You haven't seen kola bottles for 5 years? They sell them in woolworths. Anyway I remember spending all my pocket money at the school tuck shops, trying to squeeze as many sweets out of 50p per week. I do remember a sweet I haven't seen in 20 years, my dad used to buy it me along with the commodore 64 magaizine zzap64. It was kind of a oblong shape, chocolate on the outside filled with a mint honeycomb centre anyone remember it...long shot I know.

AoWW Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Spangles... I used to love Spangles but they must have stopped doing 'em years ago . Perhaps I should start a 'bring back Spangles' campaign? Anything that involves sherbet is lovely - sherbet fountains, flying saucers, sherbet dib dabs, etc. Oh, and space dust... that was fun! Anyone else remember those long tubes of sherbet-sugar-crystally stuff that came in multi-coloured sections. They were pretty!
MPH Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 does anyone remember some sweets called 'pacers' they came in a green and white wrapper, were white coloured with a green stripe and were 'chewy' like chewitts. Mint flavoured. I miss them!!! oh, and i used to go to Lanky Boys... on my way up welford road i used to stop off at 'kens' and by 1/4 of 'choc lick'.... that was ace....
Rincewind Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 I am not sure how true it is but I read somewhere that as you grow older your taste buds change so although you may recall something years ago tasting fantastic there is not much difference at all. On a personal level I dispute this theory for one item of food. I have never liked baked beans. They made me cringe when I was twelve years old and they still make me cringe now that I am more than twelve The theorist would give a good explaination for this so I am willing to listen.

Sooper Steve's shin Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 I remember Pacers! Always used to get a Wham Bar and some penny chews after going swimming. Do newsagents still do sweets in jars? I might try and get a quarter of rhubarb and custard from somewhere tomorrow.
