Head Honcho Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 So not long now until the start of the season and no doubt they'll be a few more ins and outs but are you relatively happy or not with our transfer activity so far? Personally I'd like to see a few more of the deadwood from last season shipped out but I'll trust Pearsons judgement for now.
Monk Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I think we still have a few too many lacklustre strikers in the squad but other than that I'm relatively happy given out position. Ultimately the skill is there, NP just needs to piece together the jigsaw.

billyfox1 Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 i'm relatively happy. wouldn't be too bothered to see a striker go after the way they all played last season but then again i think they are all capable of doing a good job this year,
Babylon Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 For me we have too many untested centre backs... and one ancient one. That's worrying me the most. I'd prefer to see N'Gotty go and get in a tried and tested centre half at this level, someone with a few more years in the tank and hungry. I think we may need another keeper as well, Hendo is good enough for this league. But should he get injured we don't have any ready made replacements of any quality. To finish it off, I'd trade in Hayles for another striker and get another one maybe two left backs for when Mattock goes.
teblin Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I think we need a left back and if we can get a better keeper than we have to snap them up.

Tunchev will hopefully live up to expectation, Morrison and Worley will be good cover judging on reports, then N'Gotty is a capable last resort.
Shrenchel Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Happy Enough. Although hopefully we will, I wouldn't be all that arsed if we end up not making any more signings. I think the squad has got the quality to do the business in this league...although I'm sure I've heard that somwhere before...
The People's Hero Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 We still don't have anyone who is both quick and strong up front. And I think in this division, you need that. We missed it last season. Sappleton appears out of favour and our other forwards lack pace, power and penetration.
Babylon Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Personally, i think we are covered there once Kisnorbo is back. Kisnorbo will be out until christmas. Tunchev will hopefully live up to expectation. One word... Kaebi. Morrison and Worley will be good cover judging on reports. We let in 4 goals against Hinkley and 2 against some non entity team abroad. Bit early to be declaring them good enough. They may well be, but i'd be a damn site more comfortable with a player who has done well in this league before.
Joe. Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I'm very happy with the Ins so far, it's just the Outs I'm concerned with. We still have deadwood amongst the squad though; most notably Hellings, Hayles and Kishishev, who I'd like to see us get rid of now.

Ric Flair Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 We still don't have anyone who is both quick and strong up front. And I think in this division, you need that.We missed it last season. Sappleton appears out of favour and our other forwards lack pace, power and penetration. I'm having this as well. We need a new striker, someone who can stay onside, can hold the ball up, can shoot, can beat a man for pace. We have 3 strikers who all have the odd one of these attributes but as a package none of them do.
Daggers Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 We let in 4 goals against Hinkley and 2 against some non entity team abroad. Bit early to be declaring them good enough. They may well be, but i'd be a damn site more comfortable with a player who has done well in this league before. Bit too early to be damning them as well. No defender had more than 45 minutes playing alongside people they hadn't formed a partnership with in a match where they need to throttle back to avoid injury against a team fired up who scored two wonder-goals. I'll settle for winning every match this season 5-4
botFOX Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 A striker with experience would be a good idea, someone who's in the twilight of their career and wants a challenge.

I'll settle for winning every match this season 5-4 I think your expecting too much from Hayles Daggers, he's not a machine, although some say he's a love machine!!

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Sappleton appears out of favour and our other forwards lack pace, power and penetration. Sappleton is injured.
The People's Hero Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Sappleton is injured. Mate, being black isn't an injury.
Tevez Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Too early to be making judgements yet, ask me after Palace then i'll give you my answer.
Lester LXXIV Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Hellings and Hayles have to go but at the moment it's looking as if Kish is staying... He's an expensive translator for Tunchev!!
l444ry Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Dunno what Mandaric and Pearson have in the pipeline but, as it stands, nowhere near good enough for a club like Leicester City.
Zingari Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 on paper the exports look better than imports but hopefully some of younger ones will start to come good fingers crossed
Cheese Me Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I'm happy enough, I didn't want to see lots of players arriving because I want to see the younger lads given a chance. For me I think we still need a left back, hopefully as cover for Mattock, worst case as a replacement. I like James Chambers but I only want to see him on the right. I think we could do with an experienced centre back on loan until Kisnorbo comes back. Hopefully by that stage we'll be looking good for promotion and he'll be happy enough to stay. If not we should ship him out and replace him in January. I'm more concerned with what we haven't shipped out. Up front I want to see Ash Chambers involved a lot and I'd still like to see Fryatt come good and believe this really could be the season for him. For me that means we should be looking to get rid of at least one of Howard or DJ (wouldn't mind seeing them both leave and us sign one more striker to replace them). Hayles clearly has to go too. In midfield Weso could really dominate in this league and I'm keen to see King given a chance to see what he can do. With Other options in the centre too I think we need to see one of Oakley or Clem leave to relieve the wage bill. Wings we are clearly covered. Need to see N'Gotty go too. We should be rebuilding not hanging onto older players who clearly have no long term future at the club.
Filberts lovechild Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I think probably as good as what could be expected. I'm still not convinced about our keepers so hopefully that will be addressed. Other than that I think we have the ingredients to boss this league, bring it on!!
