Development/Youth Squads 2024/2025 Thread - U18/U21
BKLFox replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
@moore_94 @davieG Edited to save everyone the pain of the ads from the Merc page. Ruud van Nistelrooy sets out Leicester City first-team plan for two brightest prospects Teenage attackers Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga are two potential stars and van Nistelrooy says decisions over the next steps of their careers at City have already been made Leicester City’s talented starlets Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga will be included in the club’s pre-season plans this summer with a view to them stepping up to the first team permanently next term. Two of the brightest prospects to emerge from City’s academy, Evans and Monga, aged 16 and 15, have impressed in their first season at Under-21 level this campaign and have been training alongside Ruud van Nistelrooy’s senior team regularly. City see them as potential stars, but know other clubs do too, with widespread interest in Monga particularly. Van Nistelrooy has made clear that City have a plan for the duo. He said it’s already been decided that they will be part of the first team when preparations begin for next season, even though they will still be 16 and 15, with their birthdays not until later in the summer. So far, they have passed every test with flying colours. Monga, who plays on either flank, and Evans, who can play out wide or up front, have looked more than at home at Under-21 level, and both scored in last Friday’s 3-0 victory over Coventry. For Monga, curling into the far corner from 18 yards with his weaker left foot, it was another fine goal to add to his growing highlight reel. Evans, meanwhile, has now been on the scoresheet in three successive games and has eight goals in 16 starts for the Under-21s this season. Van Nistelrooy said: “Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga are very closely monitored by us in their performances in the Under-21s. Fifteen and 16-year-olds who are performing in PL2 on a regular basis and doing well there. At such a tender age, there are no guarantees yet that either will make it to the top. With Evans playing as a striker, it might be expected that van Nistelrooy, as a former forward himself, would be able to better determine if he will make the grade, but the Dutchman said that’s not what he’s looking for. “The biggest contribution for a player to make it is not position specific, it’s recognising the character and mindset,” van Nistelrooy added. “I can recognise that, which professional is the real deal and has the character and mindset to make it in this world, in top sport. That is the first thing I try to recognise.” Right now, Under-21s coach Leon McSweeney is one of the key men in ensuring their development. He says he's been left "in awe" by the talent that Monga has been showing. Speaking about Monga after last Friday's win over Coventry, McSweeney told the club: “Having the pleasure to work with him, the football pitch is his playground and it’s a joy to see that. I’m in awe of him, the goal he scored tonight, to see what he does in training. "We’ll keep pushing him, putting him in and letting him do his thing. He gives me pleasure as a coach to watch and it gives him pleasure to go on the pitch and do his thing. We just need to embrace that, provide the environment for him to thrive. Hopefully the first team come knocking.” -
He finished his playing career at BR at the age of 36 cutting short his contract in 23/24, he immediately became their DoF and has held that role for just 11 mths & people now believe he will be a DoF at a premier league club (in name ;-) surely not. Would have thought it’s more to do with a learning day out at a premier league facility &/or trying to sort loan deals out.
-
It's been confirmed that Silko Thomas is back with Leicester & out for the season with expected recovery time of up to 5 mths, so assume ACL also. Real shame for the lad as he'd racked up 31 appearances playing a good chunk in each game this season for Wigan.

Sam Kerr seems to have come from the same stable of self importance as Ronnie F’ing Pickering
-
There can’t be many games where 3 of the 4 players registered with a goal assist were deep in their own half when they played their pass.
-
Never wanted him from day 1 and wasn’t blinkered by the 6 cross field passes he pulled off in each game last season that man is stealing a living. Faes can do 1 also id go Coady and Okoli for the remainder of the season then get Nelson & Souttar involved + new CB telling Vestergaard he’ll be 5th or 6th choice if he wants to stay.
-
Pound to a pinch had we announced a CB from Derby for £9m the cry would be Derby certainly saw us coming and Cashin’d…..over paying better value in South America, Sweden, ‘insert region’…. &…….ooh look preparing for the Championship Cashin, Souttar, Nelson sorted, but because it’s Brighton
-
yep just trying to lighten the mood on a friday away from him & his circus
-
I wonder if he took the same course as my missus & daughter?
-
I do believe he has been training with the 1st team for a number of weeks now but only once a week that being a Thursday as the rest of the time he's at school.
-
Yes the SCO job does seem to be doing the rounds but I also think he might have an eye on the SA job if Rassie steps down. I think if he got the Tigers job it would be short term. Rowntree would probably be a sensible appointment Tigers ledge and had success with Munster but wouldn’t Felix be an exciting appointment not been #1 but huge knowledge and brings his blitz which I’d love to see Kata & Perese lead in
-
Yeah bit disappointed as i think we were going places with him & the players were certainly following him but it was only a years contract & i think more for him than the club to see how he goes but looks like he wants to return to Oz maybe even the Wallabies job again & not because of any fallout from the Toulouse match. So early contenders Graham Rowntree, Franco Smith & Felix Jones

A little more about her from the BBC link, seems to know where the net is in the Swedish league https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c1m53mk08zro

Steven Gerrard leaves his role as Al Ettifaq manager by mutual consent
-
I'd happily cut short Facundo's loan & get McAtee in now that BL no longer after him as they signing Buendia, sadly think we'll miss out on him as Man C seems to be opening to selling him as well as doing loans.

12 entrys doesn't make it look good BUT is the hamstring issue the same 1, looks like they just about run consecutively until after the rest period they decide lets operate as that then shows a long layoff, he then doesn't have a recorded hamstring injury after that, so hopefully that is cleared. That accounts for 5 of the 12 entries & there's 1 entry of illness could be a anything a cold/covid so 6. Looking at the 2 other bigger abscences the 1 marked unknown was a 3 week hip injury & the knee injury maybe a meniscus tear as not long enough for anything major. I think due to his age as in still growing especially 20/21-21/22 seasons & that he is an explosive player he will be subject to hamstring/muscle injuries but most f those are for what 2-3 week periods. He's back playing now only missing out on the matchday squad 5 of the 23 games so his fitness must be up there, he's played 9 times this season (8 in the last 11 games) with 5 starts & has managed 4 goal involvements, not a bad return i'd say. He can play both sides as FB or Winger & probably edges our current options in all 4 positions, subject to seeing more of Woyo, so it does make an for an interesting rumour, i'd risk it.

All under 1 roof the power of Seagrave
-
That’s outta bloody order that, really shouldn’t be allowed with national team viewing.
-
If we were insisting on an obligation to buy regardless of where they find themselves at the end of the season then I wonder now if the 'option' is an 'obligation' IF they are promoted, otherwise i think its safe to say they are not buying him at the end of the season regardless of promotion then.

Parking or lack there of must be up there with most reasons to move. With mortgages harder to come by kids are staying in the family home longer and a once 1 or 2 car family can quickly become 4 or even 5 with kids partners moving in. Yet all new houses and estates don’t cater for this or the fact people have visitors and the 4 visitor parking spots they put on their new fancy estates are filled by residents 2nd car, they even build with car ports because they don’t want garages going unused by cars to try and stop people parking on the kerbs. Even £1m houses only have parking for 2 cars on a drive, here’s an idea stop cramming 50 houses on an acre plot ffs.🤦♂️

Random / Semi Unheard of Players you’ve spotted that we should look at

Barcelona are looking to off load Fati did anyone pay any interest in him last season at Brighton? -
Cool, not saying don’t take it but it then soon adds up for just a nominal (in premier football terms) amount more so worth trying to sneak a bit extra maybe especially if they are showing signs of really wanting him.
-
I have no idea if that’s right but would that mean for just 1m more it would be 30m in psr terms?

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
BKLFox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Players are little man babies nowadays not used to the harsh realities of life and responsibility. A manager should be able to rip into them after poor performances, christ I bet the majority would cry, walkout calling for their mums or seek counselling if a football manager delivered a team talk like Rassie Erasmus did to the SA squad after their loss to IRE and it wasn’t even a hairdryer talk just an honest wake up call questioning commitment, lack of regret & self pride. Deserved or not, as it was a cracking game, it’s a managers way of getting a positive response from professional adults and getting them to re-focus, if it’s to harsh for them maybe elite sports isn’t for them. worth googling. -
Chelsea and Manchester City have been given a £40m-plus insurance policy against failing to qualify for next season's Champions League by their participation in this summer's Club World Cup. That’s £40m just for turning up so they will get between that & £80m for winning it, comparable to CL winner securing £85m. There is no ‘competition’ in football anymore when these teams are rewarded for failure. Come October we will no doubt hear the chime of these managers being the 1st to whinge about to many games & player safety along with we couldn’t care less about any club further down the chain scrap all replays to look after our boys.
