If it’s a case of Luke Thomas being 1st choice in 12/18 months time then a loan or cheaper alternative would make sense. No point spending £30m on someone for them to be stuck on the bench the season after. If Thomas is the long term a £10m stop gap won’t be the end of the world

Windows open for 6 more weeks! our plans will have changed following COVID-19 but am sure we will still sign some quality. might just mean that we promote some youth rather than splashing out on squad players. We’ll have 3 or 4 first teamers in before the window closes
-
I wasn’t necessarily referring to our finances more the balance in our squad. it would not have been smart to buy Chilwells replacement until he went in case he didn’t! I think we’ll see a left back, centre back and attacker join in the next couple of weeks
-
We’ll be fine. Simply a case of shipping some out before bringing some in! Fully expect 2 or 3 new faces for 1st game and then a couple more by the end of the window. Everyone needs to relax!

This time next year Chilwell will be banged up in Marbellas dirtiest prison

Great news. He is our talisman, our heartbeat, our Leicester City. The most important player we’ve had in living memory. i hope he stays with us till the day he hangs his boots up. The thought of him in another shirt makes me feel sick, would rather see my wife with another man. Legend.
-
I’d definitely take him - especially with his release clause being so low. if he stays fit he’d be a great signing

Flog: Chilwell -£60m Ghezzal -£5m Slimani -£8m Diabete -£2m Silva -£5m Buy: Tagliafico - £25m Centre Back -£25m Welbeck -£5m Brooks/McNeil £30m Striker -£15m £20m net spend.

Regardless of the fee, his ability and available replacements the fact is he doesn’t want to be here and we’re best off getting rid if his heart is not in it. If we sign a decent replacement and have some money left over to invest in rest of the squad I’ll be happy Thomas looks a great prospect for 2/3 years time so can see why the Ajax fella is being chased as opposed to someone younger
-
Of all of our talent he’s the one I’m least concerned about losing. I think we can replace him easy enough whilst using left over funds to improve the rest of the squad. I guarantee in a years time he’ll be getting the same abuse by the neutrals that Maguire does now and we’ll be laughing our way to the bank....again.

Looking at the money some clubs are after for their players it wouldn’t surprise me if the majority of our signings are from abroad. Sarr,Brooks, Lewis, Ake (already gone) are being touted for huge money and all from relegated clubs. Our best bet is to unearth some gems or hope that Rudders plays a blinder

Can’t blame this lad if he’d rather join Liverpool. im sure we’ve got a number of targets and lots can happen between now and the window closing. No doubt the better value is abroad but if we sold him for £60m-£70m I wouldn’t be opposed to PVA, Charlie Taylor etc joining it cost was reasonable. Id also take Zinchenko as Pep doesn’t seem to trust him and I think he’d excel if we stick with 3 at the back

I can see us getting £60m rising to £65m with addons. with the pandemic I don’t think as much money will be thrown about and Chelsea have spent a fair amount already.

Positive Points from te run in
Jazzy_Jeff replied to Post Horn Galloper's topic in Leicester City Forum
The positives for me were: 1: we can easily switch to a back three when needed. Can see us playing that system next season against some of the bigger boys. Imagine it with 3 decent CB’s, Ricardo, Eduoard.... 2. Luke Thomas. Will make the loss of Chilwell easier. 3. Tielemans looked a new man. Whether it was the security of another CB or no Maddison I don’t know. 4. Vardy winning golden boot - GOAT 5. a reality check that we’re not the finished article. We need to upgrade 6 players in our squad then we’ll regularly compete for top 4 -
We only know Chilwell is good because we gave him the chance in the first place. Thomas looks like he has great potential and it would be a shame to hinder his development by spending big money on a player we may not need. as for Amartey, he looked good at RB before his injury and I’d be happy with him being back up if JJ moved the left
-
This is true. in an ideal world we’d find value in a full back and our squad will have options. id still take the risk if it was a straight choice between investing in a full back or a winger
-
It is a strange one as on the face of it he should be starting ahead of all of them. Something could of happened behind the scenes or could be Pep being stubborn. this is a man who let Sancho leave for nothing so he does make mistakes!
-
He’s different to what we have. Very classy on the ball and has a good football brain. Got a left foot as well!
-
Hopefully Amartey will be back for next season for backup. if we didn’t buy any new fullbacks we could move JJ to the right and play Thomas left if something happened to Ricardo
-
If Chilwell went and we couldn’t find a decent replacement for a sensible price I’d be happy with JJ at LB. Especially if it meant we could splash out more on some attackers!
-
I’d take Stones - he earnt his move to City and has plenty of England caps and you don’t achieve that if you’re not decent. Perfect in a back 3, long term replacement for Evans and started at right back for Barnsley so could always fill in there too
-
If we can keep him happy in a bit part role I would definitely rather have him here. Great impact sub/2nd striker if playing two up top. we do need another option though as wouldn’t want to rely on him playing up top on his own if Vardy was out for any length of time

1. Liverpool 2. Man City 3. Chelsea 4. Arsenal 5. Spurs 6. Man Utd 7. Everton 8. Leicester 9. Southampton 10. Wolves 11. Sheff Utd 12. Leeds 13. Newcastle 14. West Ham 15. Burnley 16. Brighton 17. Brentford 18. Villa 19. Crystal Palace 20. West Brom If Fulham get promoted they would finish bottom with everyone else moving up a place

To me it’s clear that Kelechi is nowhere near fit enough to complete 90mins (pressing as BR would want). He’s a great impact sub but with a style of play that is dependant on work rate he’s not going to fit in
