Still looks and feels a bit rundown inside, but they've made the smallish beer garden out the back nice and appealing. I like the place even so, as you get the "characters" in, and prices are keen.

Some nice places in Maida Vale and Kilburn, not far from where I'm based. Carlton has a good beer garden for sunny evenings, as does the Old Bell, Coopers and Kilburn Arms (all cheaper than the Carlton). If you get the chance, slightly further out, Chamberlayne Road (Kensal Rise) has a good mix of bars pubs and eating places.

I thought I'd had enough of foreign travel, but a recent trip to the Costa Blanca has changed my mind. Ryanair from Luton (which is very convenient for us) is cheap and cheerful, and after a couple hours flight we're in sunny warm climes. May go again October, even though it can be storm season. Couple of days in Alicante, then on the tram to spend a couple of days in Benidorm.

Agree with first part but disagree re Brentford - I think they're underrated and wouldn't be surprised if they finish 15 or even 20 points ahead of us.

Palace vs Leicester - Pre match thread (14th September 3pm)

I like that format, but suspect we won't play it in an away game. -
3 games in, 1 point, overall assessment …

Reasons I'm feeling positive about the next batch of games. 1. Overall we seem to have made good signings. Buananotte looks class (shame only here for 1 season) and high hopes for El Khannouss. Ayew looking better than some predicted and even Okoli may prove good over time. Skipp looks like he'll be a regular. Hoping Eduoard could be the final piece of the forward line jigsaw. 2. Initial results were not great, but we competed in games we feared we'd be slaughtered in. 3. Cooper has some time now to coach the non-internationals 4. Mavididi looks competitive at this level. Areas of concern 1. In one or two positions we are an injury away from dire straits. Hoping in particular Mads can stay fit all season. 2. N'Didi. Jury still out on whether he can still hack it at this level. 3. Full backs. 4. Cooper's inclination to play 3 defensive central midfielders. 5. How will our morale cope with a thrashing from Man City or Arsenal? -
The toilets are now free to use in rail stations (well they are down here). That's changed for the better. Bus fares seem more reasonable. There are more cycle lanes. Slim pickings, I know.

Still, all fair play innit???

Also less likely to get injured on the international break?

Interesting options on the bench though. Ricky, El K, Mavididi, Bunanotte. And Soumare. -
Leicester vs Aston Villa - Pre-match Thread (August 31st)

I dunno, we have several players who could be scoring, like Buonanotte, Macateer, Fatawu, Mavididi and that new Morrocan signing. Question will be whether Cooper can fit them into a competitive team layout. -

We do have strikers - Vardy, Daka, Ayew- but FT don't rate them. No reason we can't have goals coming from the midfield and/or wingers. Talking generally here, can't see us beating the Villa at this moment. -
Didn't see it here so posting this

I know there's time to go yet, but it's all doing my head in.

Brighton deserved to win that. Man U seemed to lack the desire to win.

If you're coming down to London, transport may be delayed due to an unfortunate accident:

Great stuff. May be tempted never to watch a game again (with all its frustrations) and just enjoy your post analysis videos! -
Someone with PL experience who'll put in a shift...it may not be the most exciting signing we've ever made but if it helps to give our club a better chance of winning games, mustn't grumble. Even better if it allows us to jettison some of the dead wood (although I think losing Cannon will be a mistake)

On balance Girona is probably a nicer place to live. There is a nice Med coast which perhaps just shades Skeggy, and Barcelona is a short journey by high speed rail. But he'll miss out on better curries I would have thought.

Another fan here. Very well researched too - although they are fiction books they often have perps who are based on real life characters - and you also get to see how most folk had little choice in their options at the time. Bernie Gunther is a great survivor, and knows enough to fight off enemies whether they be Gestapo heavies, America mobsters or Russian spies. My personal favourite was Field Gray, although it's not possible to enjoy it quite so much on a second read once you know the plot twist.

Reminds me of David Platt, who also had a knack of getting goals.

You think Time Lords only exist in Doctor Who?
