16 shots and 1 on target against Oxford, quite different from 30! -
The Sheff Weds game was painful. Ayew’s shooting is so weak, such a lack of power. There was a few that were just easy catching practice for Charles as they actually barely made it distance wise to him! He just is not a striker.

I wouldn’t pay too much notice. It’ll be people who didn’t want him as they either thought we should aim higher or wanted Dyche. Because they didn’t want him they are now desperate for him to fail to say I told you so. I can’t imagine that anyone going in actively wanting him or at least open minded about the appointment would be getting on his back already.

Ah good old 2004-2008 era. And to think we are just embarking on 04-08 2.0 right about now -
With the injuries and the fact Celtic want him now (after we were linked in the past), this seems like one of Rodgers ‘broken’ players. I know we are desperate for some news of incomings but desperation has got us in the mess we are in so I’d pass on this one.

What was that from Fernades

Of course it’s bloody tense with Palace after Edouard and Ayew! -
Very good start by some unfancied sides. 3 out of 3 for Stoke, the Robins factor? Very good manager and did a great job at Coventry. Stoke seem to have a lot of money but get it wrong mostly but with Robins they could be challenging. Middlesbrough as well but I think they are more likely to drop off a bit at least. Preston started well 2 years ago and fell off and I don’t see any more in them this time. Coventry are an odd one. A huge win yesterday but doesn’t sound like they really created that many chances with the xg at only around 1.5. But shows they can finish so will be up there.

His approach is just outdated. He will struggle to get a job at a higher level and those in the Championship don’t want the style he serves up.

Charlton 0-1 LCFC, post-match thread
LCFCJohn replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
I do think people are being overly negative here. It was not a good performance, Charlton were the better side but they were at home and are still on a high from promotion whereas we have the hangover from last season. They have also added to their squad. I think the transfer window is causing a lot of uncertainty and it is a case of navigating through this period and hopefully, we might just have a fresh face or two by the end and see where we are after the international break. Getting the points whilst playing poorly might be the best of both worlds if it could show the higher ups what we need (not holding my breath though). The positives Jakub put last week behind him and he is a very good keeper. They put us under a lot of pressure from set pieces that were handled well. A couple of good saves also, particularly the one down quickly which he held on to. Other than that he wasn’t really troubled. Also started the move for the goal for those who said he couldn’t. The goal of course and the move for it. I actually felt that there was more effort and desire from some yesterday. Given that we know most of these players should have the quality for this league, I wondered if it is a case of confidence being on the floor and uncertainty around the window. Examples being when Fatawu gave the ball away and they had the chance where Okoli blocked it, Vestergaard yelling was a positive for me as it showed some fight from him. At the same time, Okoli roared in satisfaction about his block. The latter is the sort of small thing I said recently can make a difference as to how these players can be perceived. I am fed up with the culture of the squad but if I see things like a defender putting a crunching tackle in or getting pumped about putting their body on the line, these are positive signs. Negatives Still don’t look creative enough although there was a graphic that showed we were 1st in many attacking measures and only 2 we weren’t were 5th and 7th. I think 7th was goals scored which was wrong anyway as it said 3 and we have scored 4. Centre midfield is still a frustration as it the striker position. I genuinely think the rest would be ok, if we could bring 2 new faces in for these positions (I mean I really I’d like 2 new centre mids and bin Soumare, Skipp and Winks but that is unlikely). We do need to give Marti time. This is not his mess and you can’t expect everything to click within a couple of weeks. Good protests as well with the banners and chants. -
Yep. Until more people, Aiyawatt and those in the club as well as too many of our fans wake up to this reality, it is unfortunately where we are.

He’s just very weak and un-dominating. He had a few good games with shot stopping at the start of last season but I said at the time, I didn’t recall him particularly winning us or keeping us in games in the promotion season. A good deal for us. If we were reinvesting which is the issue. Hopefully a teachable moment for them begging for Potter previously as well. -
A draw would be a very good result, I don’t see a win as a realistic outcome. Really, we just need to avoid the embarrassment of double relegation (although it would expose those running the club for what they are), so just need to get to about 60 points (in case we do get slapped with a deduction down the line).

We won’t be spending what it would take to sign a player like this. Maybe a free or loan or two but this is far too ambitious. Don’t get your hopes up guys.

It won’t be. They will bleat about how it’s down to Covid and the club have done nothing wrong! -
And the throat pin to the ground, never forget the throat pin to the ground!

I think it’s more incompetence and ego rather than deliberate sabotage to get back at the fans. That said, Chansiri seems to have tanked Sheff Wes out of spite due to the criticism he has received and they quite similar individuals so I could see it being a trait that Aiyawatt has in him.

The boss. A great man and manager and the individual whose efforts set us on the road for what we achieved. Hope he is well and enjoying life after his health issues.

Could we get actually get relegated again this season?
LCFCJohn replied to Bevan's topic in Leicester City Forum
I don’t think we will go down but have also seen enough to not expect us to be in the promotion picture. It feels eerily like 20 years ago. Relegated after a period settled in the Premiership, won a couple of trophies followed by fast decline due to mismanagement. Got back up at the first attempt but straight back down again. Different financial issues in that it was administration rather than artificial PSR but still causing lack of investment in the playing squad. We’re now at the equivalent point on the curve as the start of the 04/05 season. We were expected to be up the top again and ended up finishing 15th, then 16th, 19th before being relegated. This is where it’s going for me. We might not get relegated this season but we are in that 04-08 period again and I fully expect a relegation to League 1 within the next 5 years, and certainly before a promotion back to the Premier League. -
Exactly. I can only think it is because Ginetta has delusions as to our standing as a club and thinks we should be competing at the top. It seems he likes big ‘names’ for big money. Bet he loved Sven and the likes of Beckford and Mills being signed! Maybe Pearson and his younger, less known players for small fees was just not as exciting for him?
-
You know what, I hadn’t see that Ginetta thread until it was linked on here. I looked and the first page back from 2014 and noted the same thing. So you support Rudkin and Aiyawattand based on above, the previously unliked owner Shipman (before my time that one), but where you draw the line is Pearson…really? Individual wise, Pearson is the best thing to happen to this club in 20 odd years! What an odd view by Ginetta.
-
Here’s your statement LCFC fans don’t get angry at not winning games. We don’t expect to win every week. We don’t expect to have a divine right to be in the top division. We certainly don’t expect to be winning trophies (second tier title aside as we are the best at that)! We expect commitment, effort and a team we can take pride in. This team has been put together by our man child owner, the culture of the club and what it means has been destroyed and the soul ripped out. The players will never take stick from the fans if they put their all in. It’s a shame they can’t see that.
-
When is enough enough for you then? When do you judge on the present and not give a lifetime free pass on the past? We laugh at Forest for harping on about the past but this attitude is essentially the same thing.
-
Social media in general is a big driver though which I think was the point being made there. Applying it to football, back in the past, it would what, just be in the paper the next day that so and so has moved from x to y? Now it is the constantly shoved down throats and the rumours going round and round. It’s representative of social media as a whole and how it affects people.
-
I agree with every word here. Of course we want the club to win and do well but the positive of sinking further and even back to League 1 would hopefully be that the club resets. The problem does stem back to the owner, the lack of accountability and attitude towards the fans and the players are following suit. But the Wednesday situation shows that you can have the manager and players operating separately from the owner, playing for the fans as you say. The problem is, and it’s why I support your original post at the start of the thread, the fanbase is a problem. There might be a minority who are entitled and there are more who are KP loyalists. Mostly, people are probably in the centre in being against the owner and board etc but wanting the best from the club. We need to hope the KP loyalists get bored and those that are just apathetic as well and try and get behind the team whilst making feelings known about the owner. We need to give these players nowhere to hide as it will become apparent that no level of support will motivate them. But contracts will end and we can only hope that the benefit of us falling lower will be that we are forced to bring in players who do have a less entitled attitude and play for the club and fans.
