Guest Papasmurf Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Always makes me laugh at the name as the majority of it is in September.
Samilktray Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 All fun and games until you get stabbed by someone from Thurmaston. But this sounds fun. In Germany atm and had a sausage earlier. U wot m8?
fuchsntf Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 If the birds are gonna pour pints as badly as they have in that photo then it'll be shit.Actually those 'krugs' full of froth settle, to the glass line about an 1-1half inches from the top .Sometimes 3 inches accordingIf its a liter Krug or bigger where some like more froth. The art of pouring of beer or ale, differs slightly, to what one be accustomed to in Uk on avg Saturday nights. All beer drinking european customers....some like to see a head on their beer others, like a flat or very thin top. The real beer drinking local customers, would also complain at hometown festivals, if they felt cheated by frothy beer. Aussis n kiwis in groups, at European festivals, get done some times but they dont tend to bother. So if event organisers, bringing in foreignfare might try to cheat, believing they can get away with it, so complain, if your Krug is not filled as expected, but give time for froth to settle.UK events still have to follow the weights and measures rules, whether its a liter or a pint..!!.
Unabomber Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Yeah the reason good beers are served with a generous head is because the head reacts with the oxygen in the air to make the beer taste better. That is why even when the head dissipates the lacing is a good signal as to whether or not the beer is good.
HEGGSY Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 All fun and games until you get stabbed by someone from Thurmaston.Ouch
Maybes Posted 7 April 2015 Posted 7 April 2015 Filiberto ? really was this an April fools? No. It was in the mercury.
Bayfox Posted 7 April 2015 Posted 7 April 2015 Well in that case I reckon we should have a new mascot. Filiberto. The beer fox.
Babylon Posted 7 April 2015 Posted 7 April 2015 An all day piss on on a park.... errrrm I'm not sure that would get the go ahead!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 April 2015 Posted 7 April 2015 Always wanted to go Oktoberfest, but as Matt said - is silly expensive. Still, if it's coming here, HELL YEAH!
AndWhat? Posted 19 April 2015 Posted 19 April 2015 http://leicester-oktoberfest.co.uk/index.php?section=festpakete 40 quid a ticket! I'll pass.
Rincewind Posted 19 April 2015 Posted 19 April 2015 http://leicester-oktoberfest.co.uk/index.php?section=festpakete 40 quid a ticket! I'll pass. me too. They'll be lucky to get 50. And that is a generous estimate. Is it just seating? Those prices are for booked places which include a beer and a packet of crisps. {) Is it per person the price? Still wont bother.
Brown Fox Posted 19 April 2015 Posted 19 April 2015 http://leicester-oktoberfest.co.uk/index.php?section=festpakete 40 quid a ticket! I'll pass. That's only the prices if you want to reserve and book seating. It's free to get in every day bar the Saturday where it's a fiver. Says on the home page of that site
fleckneymike Posted 19 April 2015 Posted 19 April 2015 I thought it was going to be free/cheap?! It is free (with the exception of the Saturday). If you pay you get a table together at the front near the oompah band as well as two drinks (3 pints) and a Germanic snack.
Rincewind Posted 19 April 2015 Posted 19 April 2015 Not sure I'd want to listen to oompah all day. According to the pricing the drink plus snacks come to around a tenner to £12. If I go it will only be 4 or 5 hours. Enough time for 3 pints and a german sausage.I'd rather walk around and sit on a park bench out of the way of the crowd.

Bayfox Posted 19 April 2015 Posted 19 April 2015 A Germanic Snack? I thought the same. Looking forward to noshing down on that
