Donut Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Yeah cos finishing 17th playing the dullest, most unimaginative football in the whole football league is really the best it gets. Did Palace, or Stoke ever finish 17th? He got Stoke City into Europe ffs if thats not success for that club i dont know what is.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 He's good at what he does (ie organisation, playing the percentages) but is a one-trick pony. He left Stoke as soon as they became top-ten materials and thus favourites in a lot of games and had to start taking the game to teams. He will never stay long at a club as he has no ability to progress the style of play
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Toe knee pube lips Like "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes" but starting and the feet and going upwards imo
Bettsj2 Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Nobody said he was the messiah. Nobody said he was the best manager in the world. Nobody ever bigged him up to being anything other than what I and many wanted, which was a manager to keep us in the league, stabalise us in the league so we could then look to progress. Yes I would have taken him as much as I would take Louis Van Gaal, Mark Hughes, Sam Allardyce or any of the other managers of the teams we've beaten this season. Its amazing to me that people are trying to claim that winning a head to head makes them better full stop. That isnt and never has been the case in football. We've won two games on the spin (which we are all very happy about) but still remain bottom of the league. How anyome thinks thats a vindication of their support of Pearson is ridiculous.
Dan Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 West Brom on Saturday seemed so un-Pulis like it was unreal. The first 20 minutes they completely stopped us playing but after we equalised they were pretty hopeless. 5-4-1 at home to us was laughable. The irony of it is amazing.
Babylon Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Well he looks like keeping them up when they were sinking without trace. But I can tell you from looking at their forums they really are not happy with him at all, ungrateful perhaps. But they certainly do not seem to want him as a long term solution.
RedSoxUK Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Well he looks like keeping them up when they were sinking without trace. But I can tell you from looking at their forums they really are not happy with him at all, ungrateful perhaps. But they certainly do not seem to want him as a long term solution. Numerous fans I spoke to before and after the game said they were for the drop, which was surprising because they only really need a couple of draws or a win to get safe in all honesty. They have a horrid run-in and the QPR/Leicester games were their point winner. Seems like fans have lost faith in Pulis' ability and the players have lost their confidence and belief to win games. To be honest, we've successfully pulled West Brom into the relegation battle when most thought all was safe.
Danno Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Did Palace, or Stoke ever finish 17th? He got Stoke City into Europe ffs if thats not success for that club i dont know what is.Steve Bruce and Chris Houghton also got teams into Europe. The Palace and Stoke fans don't miss him at all. If you want a man who'd walk out on a team the night before the start of the season and spends millions on absolute wank then fair enough.
lcfcsnow Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 I said it before and I'll say it again, the Premier league is a much better place without a Pulis side infesting it.
shailen Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 People seem to think he's a magic man. Just because he has done it once or twice before doesn't mean he'll guarantee us safety. I've always said change manager if we don't look like we can win. Even during our losing streak we looked good. I saw nothing wrong with the way we set up and approached games. It was that lack of quality we didn't have. What he has done in the past is incredible, especially last season with Palace. But every club is a different story, and like I've said earlier change is only required if we look like we can't win .
MPH Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 I did make a tongue in cheek remark during the game on saturday that if we had got him when we had the chance then at least he knew how to get a crap team scoring goals. I now feel like a complete div.
TOMBlcfc Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Ollsen had the worst cameo performance i've seen all season. Managed to mess up even a simple header on a couple of occasions
Fox Ulike Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Well, I’ve never advocating changing a manager mid-season, but things did look pretty desperate a couple of weeks ago. I mentally checked-out of this season after we threw away 2 points at Everton… And let’s not forget, we’ve won the last two games largely because of the substitutions to Pearson’s original team selections. Despite all the defeats with the 442/4411, he’s still using it. He’s still playing Vardy on the wing. He’s still only playing 2 CMs. It's only when we change these self-inflicted handicaps that we show how good we are. We’re still likely to get relegated, and unfortunately, any late surge will just alert other clubs as to how good some of our players actually are. Vardy and Schlupp for example, are likely to be in line for a return to the Premiership quicker than we are. But you never know…
Captain... Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Pulis' record is impressive, whatever you say about his style did an incredible job at Stoke and Palace and is doing what is required at West Brom. I'm glad we didn't replace NP with him but had we sacked NP in November he would have been the best candidate and we probably be in a better position. If we finish above West Brom then we will stay up and we can all laugh in his face but until then I think we should be very careful at taking the piss just yet.
Vicki Vixen Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 Think Pulis made a massive mistake by dropping Andre Wisdom when he came in, was a solid RB who managed to get involved with attacking plays / assists. Did you see Wisdom play for Derby at our place last year? Horrific, and certainly not Premier League quality.
CosbehFox Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 He's about the immediate, short term personal gain as opposed to the long term of a legacy. It's worked for WBA, they will be safe but Saturday was a reminder to Baggies that there is a lot of work to be done. Their whole squad needs a refresh and relations between the players aren't great.
Rasmic123 Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 having seen how bad west brom were yesterday, very happy he's not here and we have pearson. pearson is definitely a better long term option than pulis who is just a master of pulling teams out of the shit but not much more
HitchinFox Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 For me, Pulis is one of those managers whose achievements I have to begrudgingly give respect to – despite me despising the bloke and/or his footballing methods (or both). Others in this category include Sam Allardyce, Roy Hodgson, Sean Dyche and Alan Pardew. I'd hate to see any of those manage Leicester. But equally, I'd know that we'd probably be safe in the Premier League with any of them at the helm. It's a conundrum - genuinely hard to say whether I'd rather see us back in the Championship or managed by one of those.
Stadt Posted 13 April 2015 Posted 13 April 2015 He'll leave West Brom after spending £50m and finishing in 14th place for consecutive seasons
