Benguin Posted 15 April 2015 Share Posted 15 April 2015 I've been going mad thinking about the scenarios but quite frankly as someone said there are too many variables. I see this weekend as a real chance, no matter what happens we can be at worst be 4 points adrift afterwards with a good run in and a game in hand and at best come out 17th if we beat Swansea by 3 goals. I personally think our ambitions should be a draw at Swansea, if Burnley lose or Draw to everton we will close the gap to 2 if they win it will stay at 3. That means that at Burnley we have a seriously good chance to get out of the relegation zone. Then we can add a bit of youth to as well as the old timers for our bonus game with Chelsea; Lawrence, Kramaric, Ulloa, Drinkwater, Hammond, Wasyl, Konchesky etc and then go on to try and consolidate our safety at Newcastle. I think if we spend that whole two week period above the bottom 3 the amount of confidence we'll have going in to Southampton might get us a point then comes crunch time. Â Basically I've just said I don't want to get too far ahead of myself and then gone and got too far ahead of myself. Â Right Swansea, one game at a time..... Up the Citeeehhhh! HighPeakFox Posted 16 April 2015 Share Posted 16 April 2015 I'm ignoring all others' fixtures. Win or draw most matches and all should be well. Swansea feels massive to me, and not easy either. A win would be incredibly valuable given the timing and the overall situation.
Number 6 Posted 16 April 2015 Share Posted 16 April 2015 A lot has been said on here recently about how Nige's teams tend to have decent finishes to the season. With regards to that I think it's worth pointing this out. The only team with no injuries. The sports science is paying off again. We may have started the season with a few injuries and had Upson and Kasper out for the major part of it, but at the crunch, we're as well equipped as we can be. Coincidence that the team have had the energy levels to nick two late goals in the last two games? Â

Even looking at Swansea who haven't played any more games than us, yet going into the game on saturday have multiple injuries to key players. Â Personally the fitness levels of our players could be key.
HighPeakFox Posted 16 April 2015 Share Posted 16 April 2015 Yes this seems a very important point and offers a lot of hope. I also wonder if the players have adjusted to the intensity levels required in the PL in the nick of time.

Swansea is a game I wouldn't settle for a draw but if we have to take it then fine.  Also Chelsea at home isn't a bonus game, it's a game we have to take something from. I'll take a point now if offered but we shouldn't just be pleased to be on the same pitch as them. I'd be seriously pissed off if Pearson did as you suggested and played anything other than his strongest team and as good as rolling over in a home game just because we have Newcastle at home next. From what I've seen from QPR vs Chelsea then we have a good opportunity to get a result from that match.

foxfanazer Posted 16 April 2015 Share Posted 16 April 2015 Can't believe some are happy to write off the chelsea and Southampton games! Ok Chelsea are top but we could give them a hard game. Southampton haven't been overly convincing recently and we should really see that as an opportunity

C-man Posted 16 April 2015 Share Posted 16 April 2015 Before the Hull game I said: Wins - Hull, Swansea, Burnley, Newcastle, QPR Draws - West Ham, West Brom, Sunderland Defeats - Spurs, Chelsea, Southampton I think we were on 18 points at the time and that run-in would've doubled our points tally to 36, which I thought would fall just short. Probably on goal difference. After the first four games of those 11, we are up 2 points on where I thought we'd be so it follows that I now think we will get 38 (which should be enough). Â Newcastle is a must-win. They are as bad as anyone in the league and they have nothing to play for.
Dan LCFC Posted 16 April 2015 Share Posted 16 April 2015 For what it's worth I did a predictor before the WBA game, I was quite negative overall and we only went down by a point - and this is with us losing at West Brom (so add 2 points onto that, which keeps us up) and losing at Sunderland, which at the minute I don't think would happen. They're a mess and we're full of belief.

We have burnley, Chelsea and Newcastle within a week, 2 of them have been labelled by most as must win! Should we therefore be exerting our best 11 or should we rotate. I'd rather play a weaker team at Chelsea than at Burnley or Newcastle.

Arsenal and Man City away?  And Chelsea isn't a game we HAVE to take something from, if we don't it doesn't relegate us.  Third best chance of our games remaining.  I've come to this conclusion from the betting markets. We'll be a bigger price away at Burnley and Sunderland and shorter priced at home to Newcastle and QPR.  There is no game as of yet where we HAVE to take something from but we shouldn't be virtually holding up the white flag just because it's Chelsea at home. Renart Posted 16 April 2015 Share Posted 16 April 2015 I believe    That Great Escape poster would win flag of the season, inspirational, well done Foxes1  It is really very cool. If you do turn it into a flag please change Nigel Pearsons' to Nigel Pearson's. Sorry, don't mean to be a pedant and wouldn't have said anything but if you are going to do anything with what is a really cool adaptation then it needs to be perfect. You must have put a lot of work into it. Great stuff mate!
