Marmite Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 After the recent increase in Sky TV prices I have finally decided to cancel it after 13 years, I was paying around the £100 mark and that was for everything including Sky Fibre and Line Rental. After a long discussion and them telling me I was a very loyal customer they offered me a discount of £10 !! I just ended up cancelling it and keeping the Fibre and Line rental for £26. I have been informed by a few people that they will ring you up a few days before the cut off date and offer you it for half price, anyone else had this?
EnderbyFox Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Cancelled my Sky TV a few months back. Really found no need for it after buying Netflix and having various other legal ways of acquiring Films & TV programmes.

Virgin did that to me and shafted me!
Vacamion Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Saw this article, via Twitter about their retentions team, who will never let you leave: http://t.co/Fw6DcAN03l
Marmite Posted 21 April 2015 Author Posted 21 April 2015 The operator tried her hardest to keep me and just kept going on about how I was a loyal customer and tried everything
Webbo Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 My brother in law tried this and they called his bluff so he backed down. I don't know if he'd have stuck to his guns whether they would have got back to him.
m4DD0gg Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Sky are making a rod for their own back, the recent increases and further increases planned for next year are going to see people cancel in droves. I might be wrong here but i think i read somewhere that BT have all of the champions league football next season for a few years, wonder what sky will fill that with.....exclusive rights to the Azerbaijan premier league? The sooner there is Pay to view on the football that is played in THIS country the better.

RobHawk Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 I just signed up with Virgin and get everything, all sports and movies, internet, phone and broadband inc line rental and multi room for about £80 a month. More than i'd usually pay for TV but it seemed a good deal and im a sad bastard who never goes out. Service so far has been top notch!

Rincewind Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 I pay £50 a month with Virgin for the package. I do not have extra bundles though like sport and films. I think that is too much.

Webbo Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 If you google Kodi or search for it on amazon you can watch programmes over the internet. It's not always reliable and the quality isn't always great though. Watch the football on it too.
m4DD0gg Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Those android boxes are cool as are VPN'd subs to NBC sports. Every premiership match in HD.

You can get them off amazon you just need a good internet connection
Soar Fox Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 I got a letter from sky yesterday saying they were increasing my bill by £4.50 a month. That's about the 5th or 6th price increase I've had in since July 2012. I'll be ringing up later today to cancel, I already cancelled Bt sport 2 weeks.

Guest kristianity77 Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 I'm old school and just stick to Freesat HD. If I want any movies on demand or anything on sky (including sports) I just login on the PS4 under a friends account. Quality is HD and is more than good enough for me. Cost each month....£0.00
ramboacdc Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Those android boxes are cool as are VPN'd subs to NBC sports. Every premiership match in HD. isnt there a monthly subscription involved in those?
Soar Fox Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Rang up to cancel and they offered me a £5.62 discount I laughed and told them not to bother. Cancelled and it will be ending on 23rd May.
Webbo Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Those android boxes are cool as are VPN'd subs to NBC sports. Every premiership match in HD. Not working atm, looks like they've figured a way to stop it.
AyewJoking Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 when you cancel with sky do they come and take your sky plus box and remove the dish?
MooseBreath Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 The 'always on' model of TV sports viewing has got to be on its last legs soon. In an 'on demand' world why am I going to want to pay for five sports channels to broadcast 24/7 when I only want to watch one or two sports two or three times a week?
