burnleyfan Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 By anyone who had to listen to Dyche's constant whining about money and who are aware that last season he spent more above their transfer income than we did in our last 2 Championship seasons combined. Also anyone who had to put up with arrogant and deluded Burnley fans during the 13/14 season. Of course that's all in the past now but people who read Burnley fans' ignorant digs at other clubs' financial difficulties might come up with their own reasons to dislike poor Burnley. Arrogant and deluded in what way? As supporters, we know it'll be harder for us, than any other team in the PL. As for money spent, didn't your owner just convert losses of £100 million into shares? We are exactly the same size as Preston and they see us as the way to go. Whereas clubs like Bolton & Blackburn have spent way beyond their means. We have no facility to spend millions on players unless we want to take a massive risk. £30 million in profits + future income is a big thing for us (Money which has not come from any loans, but purely from promotion). If you spend it on players & wages in one-two seasons it has to work or else the dream is over for us. To get promoted on the back of the £30 million profit is remarkable in its own right. Money which will help safeguard our club. If other clubs get into financial difficulties it is their own fault, spending money they don't have. If we look at them and say "Told you so" then it's because we have looked at our balance sheet, seen what players and wages we can afford and built two promotions (3 in seven years) on the back of that. We NEVER take big risks on players. Perhaps that's why we are seen as a model club who can gt promoted whilst keeping our house in order. Some supporters think clubs should be allowed to go into administration and the authorities bail them out. Personally I think if HMRC were allowed to be number one creditor when a club goes into Admin it would make others think twice about buying players. A few clubs going bust might get everyone doing it the proper way.
Soar Fox Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Didn't he pay like £3.5mill for Sordell!? Sounds about right, they then let him go on a free transfer 14 months later. That's a lot of pound notes they wasted
burnleyfan Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Sounds about right, they then let him go on a free transfer 14 months later. That's a lot of pound notes they wasted We paid £500k for Sordell! It was Bolton who paid that for him!
Langston Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 I don't dislike Burnley but yer man in charge winds me up. There's having an underdog mentality and then there's what he did last time they were up which was almost belittling his players. Howe (and, to a certain extent Ranieri - albeit with different remits) nailed the siege mentality, Dyche just seemed to suck any confidence out of his side - they might not have been the best bunch but they aren't going to get any belief if they're repeatedly told they can't compete with other sides in the division.

We have enormous belief among our players and a great siege mentality. Note the number of games we scored late goals in, including injury time goals against Boro & Brighton to make sure we didn't lose those games!
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 As supporters, we know it'll be harder for us, than any other team in the PL. I don't understand this - how will it be harder? Dyche's bullshit doesn't sit right with me - Burnley will be getting the same TV money as everyone else, they've had parachute payments to get here and a chance to offload some of the shit. Why will it be any more of a struggle for Burnley than anyone else?

Why will it be any more of a struggle for Burnley than anyone else? Everyone else has wealthy owners, we don't. That's where the difference is. We can't afford to pay players £30-£40k per week as we have to self finance everything. If our wage bill goes up to £40 million let's say, how many seasons with £170 million last when you throw in transfer fees and other associated costs. 3 years max and then we become a struggling Championship club on 12k attendances once again. We don't hav a chairman who can put say £200 million into the club to keep us going season, after season.

Langston is referring to your Prem campaign. Dyche and his constant words of not being able to compete was a complete cop out to cover his own arse in case you got relegated. Burnley put in some good performances when you were in the Prem and if Dyche actually put more belief in the team they may have done better. Now you have come up as champions with a similar season to us (not quite as good but not far off) then Dyche can use that to put a proper siege mentality into the players and survive next season. Heck use us as a perfect example of what can be achieved with a good team spirit and belief. If Dyche starts spouting the same rubbish as he did in your last prem campaign then I would expect Burnley fans to be massively disappointed.

I think if we go down in the same way that Norwich have don't it will start to annoy the supporters. However, their frustration will be directed more at the directors than Dyche. Even though, as I mentioned in a previous post, we don't have money to burn, w'll be looking to make at least 2-3 signings in the Gray price range (£6 million). At least we'll be able to get some money back if they don't come off!
Langston Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 If I was a Burnley fan (to be honest, even as a City fan) I'd really want Newcastle to drop in a toss up between them and Sunderland.
Wymsey Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Massimo Cellino wants to leave Leeds. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36285825 Leeds as a club have great potential with their fanbase etc, and don't deserve incompetent and corrupt individuals to mess the club around.
Dan Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Paul Williams leaves Forest. I remember when this lot used to get under my skin. I have genuinely never heard of that bloke. What no-marks they've turned into.

Ever watched the Leicester v Derby Play-Off Final? He is the one that ducks under the ball on the line to allow Walsh's first goal to somehow sneak in.

Manwell Pablo Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Dunno who I want to win this ........soft spot for Brighton but would be good to see Wednesday back they've hard a hard few years.
Benguin Posted 13 May 2016 Author Posted 13 May 2016 I wish this was the final then I'd be happy either way. I want both to come up but if I had to choose I'd say Brighton for
Mr.10 Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Knocky is going to come in for Brighton now. "Carlos had a dream"
Webbo Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I'm going to say it. I hope Derby win the play offs, if not them then Brighton.
Raw Dykes Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I want Wednesday to get promoted. Don't think they will, but I've always had a soft spot for them and they've been out the PL way too long.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I was hoping for either of these over the other two, but you just know ****ing Hull are going to win.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Never even realised Stockdale played for Brighton, even extra incentive
