I'm bloody putting a few quid on those odds. Looking at the fixture I don't fear any team now. Nige is going to bag some heavy weights to bolster the squad. The new era is upon us.

The most ridiculous thing i have ever read! I do hope you were joking lol

Top and his dad should lump a couple of mil on us winning the title at 5000-1 and then spend whatever it takes to achieve it.

Potential return would be crazy (10 billion) and would make us by far the richest club in world football.

I hope you are reading this Top x

really don't understand why the bookies ALWAYS  have the 3 promoted teams as favourites for relegation when all 3 teams going straight back down almost never happens.

Because bookies aren't soothsayers--they're in the business to make money, and set their odds accordingly.

I might be wrong, but I remember us being 3000/1 to win the league at the start of last season!

I got 5000-1 and put £20 on it. For some reason the bookie was sniggering as he took my money. I first began to think the chance had been thrown away when we lost at Chelsea. Little did I know how far we would fall short as the season progressed. (Though languishing at the bottom of the table for so long is rather an extreme way of "falling short"). The optimism ran amazingly high at the start of last season, and I don't think I was the only one, but I doubt that anyone was quite as naive as me!

The odds aren't just based on the probability of something happening, their based on both that and the amount of money put on.

I imagine newly promoted clubs get a lot more money out on them to go down.

Love it,  i guess the problem is not the 2 million bet (chicken feed!)   its the 1 billion you would need to spend to buy all the best players and then pay them !!  the money in football is almost Incomprehensible.  If was top id do a cheeky £10000 @5000/1 though

There is a ceiling on the amount a bookie has to pay out on a single bet. It used to be a few million. I doubt it has changed much.

They don't need to put more than a grand on to max out but the returns aren't there. I know you weren't serious but just in case anyone reading thinks it could be done ...............
