Its surely better to play against teams lower than you to get strikers scoring goals and players building match fitness. You surely wont lose to them.

Unless you're Burnley who go to Accrington and lose 4-2 lol with Accrington being 3-0 up after 10 minutes :D

Await the usual over-reactions if we lose. Performance more important than result although ultimately it's a fitness builder. Heading up a bit later. Looking forward to it. New ground for me.

So? It doesn't matter who we play. It's about getting back to match fitness and not picking up injuries, the opponent and result is irrelevant.

Exactly these, pre season friendlies mean absolutely nothing.

I don't care about the first few games but I am wondering why we've not got a bigger game to end with, just so we have some similar opposition to the quality we will face this season. Instead we will be ending with two shit Championship teams then heading straight into a tough Premier League season.

lol, I'm willing to bet that the quality of preseason opposition has ZERO impact on how a team performs the following season.

It's not like the vast majority of our squad haven't found out how tough this league is already.

Pretty sure we had a low key pre season before our championship winning season. Wouldn't read too much into it at all. So long as the players gain fitness and come through without injury I'll be happy

And I'm very happy our side aren't on one of these extended preseason tours of America or Australia like some are, instead they're at home and able to fully prepare for August 8th.

Sorry mate I don't know..

I don't think we're going to learn anything tonight in terms of tactics, formation, style of play. This is simply a fitness exercise.

Yep I would imagine that's right

I'm sure we will have some new signings soon to look forward to seeing  if big Claudio pulls some rabbits out of the bag

Didn't we play Monaco then?

Then that should give us a good idea of how we'll fare against Sunderland to start the season.

Remember when Newcastle got pasted (by Orient???) something daft like 6-0? Then went on to win the league?
