lol I read Captain Tsubasa and saw some pretty hilarious translations in that too.

 

Ah - the book that inspired Shinji!  But then so many Japanese players say that. Shinji said he used to play football in bare feet because the Brazilians portrayed in the story did the same.

Yeah - should be a chant.

 

But - a bit of balance. Japanese people often find the way we pronounce their names very curious. We don't do so bad with Okazaki. The stress should be on the 2nd syllable, not the 1st and 3rd, as we typically say it. But it's pretty close. 

 

There are more problems with names like:

 

Keisuke Honda               The 'u' in 'su' is silent, so it's pronounced 'Keiske', but TV commentators often say KeiSUke.

 

Shunsuke Nakamura      Ditto.  'Shunske', not the often heard 'ShunSUke'

They'd say  ’スカウス　フォクス’　　＝　skausu fokusu

 

 

How do you say Julian Joachim Junior Shabadoo?

 

Nice one. Oh well, I'll do it anyway:

 

ジュウリアン　ジョーチム　ジューニアー　シャバドゥー　　Juurian Jo-chimu Juuniaa Shabadoo

 

Congratulations! Shabadoo is the first word we've had that the Japanese can say perfectly.

This is the best thread in ages lol I have taught English to Japanese students before, one of the things I noticed is that they are sometimes a bit embarrassed to speak with what they deem as quite flamboyant and up-and-down intonation in English. Get them to repeat a question like "Excuse me, do you know the way to the station?" and they don't always feel comfortable with all the raising and lowering of pitch to make it sound like a polite question. The resulting monotonous delivery can be amusingly robotic lol

A lot of teachers try rhythmic clapping exercises with students - clapping on the stressed points of the sentence.

 

Sounds great when there's 30,000 doing it!

Can you tell us anything about Yuto? Do you think he be a good signing?

It's a grateful signing.

If he can't playing,it's have a good time and valuable experience.

Because they won 09-10 year's CL

Now Japanese player belong to a lot of EU team.

That time,we could count a few persons in EU.(example Shinji Ono,Syunsuke Nakamura,Hidetoshi Nakata etc...)

CL is highest place,But perhaps he can playing there in the famous team in Japan.
