On paper I think this is the most rounded squad we have had in my time watching city, think the MON team maybe better, but this overall squad has more strength I'm depth. Especially once James returns.

A pity Cambi, Nugent and Knocky have gone as would have all added more depth and options.

I think this team against MON's would win 5 or 6 times out of 10

Difficult to compare teams from different eras. The best MON team was over 15 years ago and things have changed quite a bit.

I think we are reasonably balanced across the positions and I think we are going to finish 12th so this was hard for me. Picked 12-17 for defence and 7-11 for the rest.

Yeah I do agree and I think it's that change that would favour out current squad. I think the physical demands are higher now and this side would have too much pace for MON's side. Then again our defence was superb back then and technically Izzet and Lennon are superior to King and DD

Reckon our midfield and strikers are mid table but our defence is towards the lower end. Still not sure about RDL and Morgan as the players to help is progress to the next stage. Out of the top 12, only Norwhich have conceded more...although I suppose this is slightly unfair given there have only been 2 matches.

Goalkeepers - 7th to 11th

Defence - 12th to 17th

Midfield - 7th to 11th

Attack - Top 6

Agree with that. Probably should've put the wingers with the strikers

Our strikers look bloody good. Goal keeping is no more than average. Midfield is a department that needs to be improved, whilst defence also needs more balance.

All in all, fine tuning, is the order of the day, and Claudio appears to be working on it.

I honestly think this team is quite a lot better than MON's team. Not taking anything away from his achievements - it's just that the general standard of football in the Premier League has improved since the 90s.

I think all the top teams today are better than the top teams back then were.

It would be great to see an accurate simulation of MON's team vs the current team, and run it over and over again to see who comes out on top.

This can't be too difficult to do with today's technology, can it?

Defence - 12th to 17th

Midfield - 7th to 11th

Attack - Top 6

Agree with that. The reason I'd say our attack is top six is that even the top clubs couldn't handle them last season, we should have had pens at Man City whilst Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool were all stretched and struggled to cope. I just believe that the defence are unlikely to keep out the better sides but midfields fitness and workrate compensates for million pound spends and big names. With confidence like they are showing right now they're capable of playing with drive and tempo and importantly more forward passes than backwards or sideways but still getting back to guard the defence. If they lose that confidence to zip the ball about quickly in tight spaces they could become average but right now they're top half quality. Kasper on his day is top six, other days it shows why he's here and not elsewhere so 7-11 is right.

Our strikers and midfielders when combined are good enough as a top six side. Take any one individual out and put him into another team I wouldn't say the same thing. The system we are currently playing combined with the team chemistry and confidence is making our attacking part of the team look like world beaters.

Defensively we are lower mid table for sure, and Kasper if he was more consistent would be a top 6 keeper but currently I rate him as 7th - 11th.

If you were to ask me which players could play for a top 6 side currently, I would say: Mahrez and Vardy(with a decent finish). Very harsh indeed, because everyone has played their part, but only those individually could hack it in a top team imo.

genuinely think we've got the best forward options outside the top 5/6.

4 very good strikers, a very good winger and mahrez. ludicrous that people thought we'd go down. we could probably not play anyone in defence and win more games than we lose.

My reason for classing our attack as top 6 standard is not based on individual ability but on strength in depth. How many clubs outside the top 4 can say they have 4 strikers that wouldn't look out of their depth if they started? All 4 of our strikers have equal-ish ability and would all walk into the starting lineup of anyone outside the top 10 and a couple within the top 10.

Vardy - England international who torments every defence he comes up against.

Okazaki - Japan international who was the top scoring striker in the world not so long ago.

Kramaric - Croatia international who was the top scoring player in Europe last season before we signed him.

Ulloa - A future Argentina / Chile international who has the best aerial ability for a striker in the country.

I'd never put our attack at top 6...

10th maybe but not top 6...

Our attack is not better than

Chelsea

United

City

Arsenal

Spurs

Liverpool

Stoke

Everton

Southampton

I'd put us above spurs and Stoke, Tbh...

Soldado, Kane and Adebayor? You'd take them over our attackers?

Pelle, Juanmi and Rodriguez aren't a better attack then Vardy, Okazaki, Kramaric and Ulloa either and all Everton have got is Lukaku, they have no depth.
