Swarles Barkley Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 mark davies back in league one. thought he was one of our stand out players in l1 and vital to promotion. turns out he only played 7 games!
smudger63 Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Lammie Robertson played 7 times back in the 70s, probably the worst player ever to pull on a City shirt.. Up the City.... John Ridley from Port Vale, if memory serves me right, Alan Waddle from Liverpool and Roger Davies from FC Brugge, all from the same McLintock season run him pretty close. Norman Leet two left feet is another contender for worst player too.
Weller in Tights Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Jari Rantenan from Finland, he only made 13 appearances for us between 1987-1989 and yet I remember his song well. Basically Mike Stringfellow's song was adapted for him. Come on without, come on within, You ain't seen nothing like the mighty FINN.
fazzyfox Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Danish striker Tommy Christenson who came on as sub once and had a really flashy diving header that only continentals would attempt saved is taking up memory cells that should surely be used for other more relevant things. He was really bigged up by the Mercury (not the first or last case of that happening) but things didn't work out for him. However he scored a hatrick on his debut for my City Subbuteo team and was undropable as they went on to win the league with typical 8-0 scorelines and a revolutionary 3-2-5 formation.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Pegguy Arphexad. Only 21 appearances, but a league cup winner and penalty shootout legend. Edit: 2 League Cups, 1 FA Cup, 1 Charity Shield, 1 UEFA Cup and 1 Super Cup......39 Career appearances. Wow. Now a porn star, apparently.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Stan Collymore. That hat-trick against Sunderland. The La Manga incident. The broken leg etc. He regularly refers to his time at City under MON and there's avatars and user names of him on here. All that and only 11 appearances for us.... In spite of all that - the first thing I think of is Forest. Stan always speaks very warmly and positively about Leicester - especially the time he spent under MON rather than the brief spell under Tator Peeler.
enmac Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Bobby Svarc, Malcolm Partridge. Long, long ago! Who in their right minds would sell Wortho, who became leading scorer in the top division with Bolton in the same season and replace him with Alan Waddle!
Donut Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 johnny hayes was so underrated it was unbelieveable. Could deliver a quality ball into the box.
fazzyfox Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Robert Jones, had a big impact in one match during a promotion season then went back to the reserves for a long spell with only a few first team games. Mainly a striker it was tough getting a look in with Lineker & Smith around but occasionally played wide or as an attacking midfielder. Similarly future manager Rob Kelly, looked good in the reserves but shouldn't be memorable based on his impact on the first team (again backing up the likes of MacDonald then Macalister was tough in the days of 1 sub).

Good one. Jones' goal at Oldham was massive that year, right? I'd choose Everton Carr. I just remember all the stick he got.
pSinatra Posted 24 August 2015 Posted 24 August 2015 I was going through an old Panini sticker album, when we were in the (old) first division & Jock Wallace was manager. There's a sticker for Paul Edmunds, who I remember quite clearly & remember him scoring a corker the season before. Apparently he played 8 times & scored 2 goals. I think it was the ginger afro that I remember more than anything.
EGBFitness Posted 24 August 2015 Posted 24 August 2015 Kalac (aka spider) Not looked at his stats but barely played but made a massive input during our play off final against Palace. Amazingly went on to bigger and better things too.
rico Posted 24 August 2015 Posted 24 August 2015 Graham Fenton 34 apps 3 goals Jari Rantanen 13 apps 3 goals Rufus Brevett 1 app
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 August 2015 Posted 24 August 2015 Who was that central midfielder we had on loan that looked like a bloody world - beater? (Went to Bolton I think?) Davies?
FoxyPV Posted 24 August 2015 Posted 24 August 2015 Mark Davies Went to Bolton to pursue great things then did his knee (twice I think). He was playing well for them either last season or the season before.
goose2010 Posted 24 August 2015 Posted 24 August 2015 Who was that central midfielder we had on loan that looked like a bloody world - beater? (Went to Bolton I think?) Davies? Mark Davies - Looked class for us went to Bolton picked up more injuries than Darren Anderton
Christoph Posted 24 August 2015 Posted 24 August 2015 Yann Kermorgant I thought Kyle Naughton was brilliant when he came here.
