The FIFA rankings are absolutely garbage for a number of reasons.  Firstly, England haven't been a top 10 side in world football for well over 10 years yet so even for England, our ranking is way higher than it should be.  Wales even more so.  Yes they have had a few decent results against teams in the top 30 (and Belgium, who are laughably 2nd) but how does that make you the 9th best team in the world.  FIFA rankings have been a longstanding joke since their conception and they mean nothing.  Why they don't put a system in to place that means the best are actually at the top (like tennis etc) is beyond me. 

 

Its easy to see how pathetic FIFA rankings are, when you can go and beat Macedonia, Iceland, Andorra, Cyprus, Israel and Belgium in this run (Wales actually drew to a Finland and Bosnia in this run also) and be declared as the 9th best country in world football.

Well not really, its just a few statements that the FIFA rankings are garbage, for all teams involved, not just because England are below Wales  lol .  

 

The next team below England are Spain, but England fans know that if we play Spain right now, more often than not, we get spanked left right and centre.  They make absolutely no sense and never have done.

 

Also, look at Romania in 7th place.  They've gotten there during 2015 after draws at Bulgaria and Northern Ireland and single goal wins against Sioni (who?) Faroe Islands and Moldova.

No we wouldn't, may I remind you of when we DESTROYED THE WORLD CHAMPIONS IN 2011 LEAVING NO REMORSE AND SUBSEQUENTLY DESTROYING SPAIN IN TIME FOR WHEN THEY DEFENDED THE TITLE.

fifa rankings have always been a good laugh. England is top 20 not top 10. Wales are definitely not better then england but for the sake of fifa logic they should be.

Enjoy fin, this is what worldcup victory for the best british team feels like. Outside of rankings none of the british teams will actually ever win the cup in our lifetimes.

Do they still operate with a two-tiered ranking system? One that's accumulative and one "yearly ranking", where they have to 'defend' points they have gained during the previous season? Much like the FIFA ranking system then...

 

Also, I don't see why people are getting upset about Belgium being high up in the rankings. Sure, they've yet to achieve anything eye-catching, but their current group is widely acknowledged to be a top 10 side in the world...?
