I love Belgium as much as the next guy, I even bloody live here for now, but you have to be being argumentative if you're telling me it's not a complete joke that Belgium are ranked above the current world and European Champions on the strength of qualification matches against generally poorer opponents.

 

Oh, I don't agree they should be above Germany. Romania being 7th is far more outlandish than Belgium 2nd though. But I'm sure that Belgium would be one of the few teams that would prove to be very stern opposition if Germany played them.

 

How would you suggest the FIFA rankings work to reflect current strengths of teams?

I'm not sure there is a way, I was just a bit surprised at your initial post deciding to pick out Belgium in particular and start talking like it's crazy to be puzzled at their ranking. I just wanted to make it clear to you that it's perfectly sane to question a team ranking 2nd on the planet on the back of zero international achievements of note.  Anyway this is getting a bit side tracked so I'm going to leave this conversation there as it's not adding any value to the thread..
