glenelgfox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Ranieri felt guilty about the penalty and them going down to 10 men so he evened it up by playing Dyer. It was 10 on 10 although you could argue we played the whole game 10 on 10 or even 9 (us) vs 10 with the horrible games from Ulloa and Okazaki to complement Dyer. No wonder we couldn't break them down playing with only 9! :-)
foxinsox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Dyer was on before the penalty :-) De Laet on the right wing with Mahrez moving centrally would have been better than Dyer, who truly was awful yesterday. Not that I think the number 10 role works for Mahrez.
old koppite Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 He just had a stinker- it happens. You could see his frustration and embarrassment after he passed the ball out of play the third time when we were attacking down the left wing! We all know he is normally a skilful and speedy winger- he doesn't lose that overnight! Don't forget the good performances in previous games which helped win us points.Just forget it and move on.

It happens too often for me - either the last time or time before he put his foot over a pass and let it run out of play through a sheer lack of concentration and nothing later was significantly better. I don't knoq what's wrong with him but it's not doing us any good.

Thracian Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 You could easily be describing Ulloa, Mahrez or Albrighton's performance there. I'd go further with Ulloa, who literally wouldn't have looked out of place in Sunday league football again today. Dyer was poor, so were several others. Dyer at least has the excuse that he hasn't been playing and so could be expected to be a bit rusty. I just don't know where you're coming from sometimes. Ulloa almost set up a goal for Vardy and while never playing well, still did his bit. Mahrez too for all that he cost us the game and Albrighton was just Albrighton but still involved. Dyer offered zilch and there's no excuse about not playing. If he's picked it should be on the basis that the manager considers him fit to play. And seemingly not having suitable boots has nothing to do with being fit or not. The bloke spent so much time on his arse it became surprising to see him on his feet.
Thracian Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Do you watch Andy King through the same lenses? King? If he's not considered good enough to improve yesterday's shambles - and Dyer is - then the bloke's wasting his time at Leicester.
sdb Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Pretty sure the last time he got 30mins at the KP he changed the game for us? Some people need to stop being so fickle.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 I hold my hands up...just being honest as I said in the post match thread. .I was very happy to see Ulloa replaced by Dyer at half time. First half we'd been launching it up to a fella that won sod-all in the air and were limited to one real chance. Even that was after a 'shot' from Leo that was heading for the corner flag. So...I thought Dyer would give us pace on the flanks and Vardy/Mahrez would score in the second half. I'm not knocking Ranieri's choice there at all. I'd have done the same. It simply failed because Dyer looked devoid of any confidence. He really did look like he'd have been happy to have been subbed off again. Which was surprising. But there ya go..One of those off days we can all have. He'll bounce back.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Yup lets forgive what is possibly the worst individual performance at Leicester in probably 5 years (yes he was that bad) because the lad got knocked sparked out against Villa and Mahrez started ****ing shit up. He will play next week and needs to really contribute if he wants to be trusted again. EDIT: scratch that just remembered Ben Marshall at Barnsley away in the 2012/13 season *shudders*
NewquayFox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Play Dyer on the right and Gray on the left against Spurs next week in the cup, must admit he looked terrible yesterday and I'm sure when he watches what he can of the game it will give him a kick up the arse (the same one he sat on for 45 minutes) agree that Mahrez was as bad but Ulloa was worse than both of them.... Up the City...

Up the City... "Terrible". I agree. And far worse than Mahrez and Ulloa. So why play Dyer at all?
Christoph Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 To be fair to Dyer, every other game he has came on, he has looked lively and a threat. Yesterday he was shocking but I'd like to think that was a one off.
STUHILL Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 "Terrible". I agree. And far worse than Mahrez and Ulloa. So why play Dyer at all? I would suggest one reason he played badly was due to a lack of match sharpness, so a cup game would be a great opportunity for him to improve and I think we all know that an in form Dyer is a very handy player so it is important he gets some game time next weekend, and also allows players like Albrighton an extended rest, if needed.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Terrible performance by him yesterday but he's been good every other time he's played (granted not a great deal). Won the match for us versus Villa, helped us win at Everton... I'm not going to write him off based on yesterday and I still think he has a lot to offer for the rest of the season. He's usually good going forward, reliable defensively and appears not to have kicked up a fuss about limited playing opportunities despite the fact that's probably the only thing he came here for.

Yesterday he was shocking but I'd like to think that was a one off. I must have seen different games. He was excellent before he got clattered scoring for us. Since then I can't believe the difference.

That's a good enough point but I wonder what everyone else needing match sharpness would think given that they're all signed on at the club while he's a loanee and surely a guy we'll replace in the window.
CosbehFox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 I must have seen different games. He was excellent before he got clattered scoring for us. Since then I can't believe the difference. Southampton away.......
Thracian Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Southampton away....... Didn't go so can't comment.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 I must have seen different games. He was excellent before he got clattered scoring for us. Since then I can't believe the difference. Not being funny but didn't he score about 10 minutes into his debut
Bayfox Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 I've been screaming out for his to get a chance. I take it all back. He was dreadful yesterday. Along with a few others he must have forgot his studs. He put 2 simple balls out of play and never once actually beat his man. Be interesting to see how he does in the cup assuming he plays.
sdb Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Didn't go so can't comment. Can't comment?! You've spent the last 20 hours slating the bloke!! You hate him more than you fancy Alan Sheehan.

Finnegan Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Nathan Dyer is a fantastic premier league winger, we all know that. He's got a proven track record. You can't bench someone for half a season and bring him on and expect him to be match sharp. Besides, it's not like anyone else had a brilliant game.

I agree but when this is mentioned in regard to Kramaric, it seems to get ignored! I'm not convinced by Dyer. He started brightly at the beginning of the season but there's a reason why Swansea let us borrow him. People talk about Kingy being invisible, Dyer does exactly the same. I won't be too disappointed if we don't sign him permanently
