Jamie Vardy & Andre Gray

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Burnley supporter here.

Firstly, well done on having an impressive start to the season and especially with having to change managers after doing very well at the end of last season.

I have to say how refreshing it is to see players doing well who were playing non league football just a few seasons ago.

I can't help notice the similarities in both Vardy and Gray. Both are fast, strong and have a great eye for goal. Obviously Jamie Vardy is doing it at a higher level but if you've seen Gray there is no reason why he can't do the same in the PL due to his speed and strength. A few eyebrows were raised when we paid £6 million - rising to £9 mill if we get promoted but he now looks good value. Not quite as good a deal as Vardy though. A bet there are many gems to be unearthed in the lower leagues. Who else have you got on your books cheaply that represent good value? We got both Austin & Ings for 1 million each.

Anyway, hopefully we'll be playing you once again next year but good luck for the reason of this season as it would be good for you to get among the bigger clubs at the end of the season.

Are you concerned if you don't go up you will lose him? As it wouldn't surprise me if he has a clause in his contract. Is this the guy that played for Hinckley United?

I'm sure United buying Rooney for 30m was good value, and if Vardy jets off to Barcelona for 25m it would still be good value.

The truth is Burnley's recruitment over the past few years has been pathetic, since Eddie Howe left it's been sub-par. Dyche spoke about monitoring Grey from his time at Hinckley United, when he could've purchased him for a packet of crisps, but got depsperate and paid big money for Grey.

Now Brentford, they were smart, they signed Grey at the right time for the right price, and sold him on to you making insane profit. That's how you unearth gems and do business.

Mahrez, Vardy to Leicester

Grey to Brentford

Good luck btw.

Mahrez as mentioned is the best example. I bet Le Havre are absolutely sick.

Kante at £5.5mil looks a steal too given some of the astronomical fees that bang average players go for. He's been as important as Vardy/Mahrez this season for me and fits our style to a tee.

Pretty sure Drinkwater was only £500k, and is producing the kind of form that if he played for Spurs he would have been called up yesterday.

The vast majority of our players could go for more than we paid for them and that's the way clubs like us and Burnley need to go about it. People baulked at the fee for Gray but if he keeps this up he could be a £20mil player in 12 months time.

I've always been impressed with the way Burnley go about forwards. Ignoring blowing money on Jutkiewicz and Sordell, you've had some quality forwards in recent years.

Our recruitment isn't as bad as you think though. We got Tendayi Darikwa from Colchester for £600k and he's adapted very well at Right back. We got Michael Keane from Man U. for £1.9 million and he looks very good, being watched by Everton and Swansea apparently. Plus we got Joey Barton for nothing and despite what people think of him as a person he's a very good midfielder. And we have a goalkeeper in the England squad who cost us nothing!

All Dyche signings

1.9 million for keane, they saw you coming, don't forget we had him here.

Most of our squad represents good value, we don't have many we would get less money for.

As examples

Mahrez at 400k is clearly the pick of the bunch

obviously you brought up Vardy.

Others

Drinkwater, a Million

Albrighton Free

Fuchs Free

Kante will turn out to be a steel, infact I'm concerned when the media get over the Vardy/Mahrez it's Kante next.

This poster smacks of Sean Dyche's secret market research to dig up some more dirt on 'many pound notes' Leicester".

Not at all.

With regards to Keane, there are quite a few examples in football where playing for a different club benefits a player. Vardy is the best example of that. Up to the age of 24/25 his career seemed to be at a dead end yet he's been a revelation since he came to you. You obviously had Keane when he had less experience.

And as for losing Gray we've got used to that in recent years, selling Fletcher, Jay-Rod, Austin & Ings for profit. We just hope we can unearth another decent striker in a couple of years time.

Very wise of you to ignore last seasons recruitment when looking at the signings, good work sir lol.

In all seriousness welcome to the forum. Gray looks like a decent player and of I'm honest I recon a premier league team will gamble on him in Jan (Bournemouth, West Brom even) so it will interesting to see how you do after that.

Lmao. Troll alert.

'We've got loads of good transfers done. We paid 2m for Michael Keane and got Joey Barton too'

lol lol Top work mate.

Are these supposed to be good signings? Pretty bang average to be honest.

Signing Austin was good, signing Trippier, Ings, devloping Rodriguez - these were good moves.

Considering we are currently 2nd these players seem to have adapted well since losing Ings & Trippier and Shackell at the end of last season.

Yeah but you play against teams like MK Poverty and Poverham.

C'mon guys, don't start playing the big club. Burnleyfan has come here with no malice, treat him with respect. I got treated ok - mostly - on the Palace forum, no need to take the pi55

What, you mean 'hard'?

Gray could be as good as Vardy, he has the potential. However Vardy's biggest attribute is his work rate and determination, it's honestly unrivalled by anyone I can think of. There's plently of quick and strong strikers about as per Gray, but what Vardy has is different.

Plus my Burnley ST mate says Darikwa has been incredibly average.

Bloody hell Buce, having a pop at Bayfox? You got a death wish or summat?

I'm not worried.

I'm a really fast runner.

I dispair at Leicester fans sometimes. The guy has just come here to have a chat at gems , no need to attack him. Is it half term or something?
