Just as an aside, full respect to Watford for their impeccable observance of the minute's silence. Can't remember the last time we had a rememberance fixture in which everyone in the ground respected it to a man. Refreshing after the knuckle-dragging WBA fans bringing the mood down last year.

Absolutely love how much our club respects history. Truly something to be proud of.

From where I was sat they stifled us up top in the first half, Vardy looked isolated because Watson just sat in front of the central defenders and tidied everything up. We couldn't play the percentages game, every time we pumped the ball up Mahrez was losing out and Vardy didn't have any affect.

At half time we brought Okazaki on and suddenly Watson had more to think about. They weren't allowed as much time on the ball. Okazaki was closing down well which freed up Mahrez on the wing and allowed Vardy to play of the shoulders of the centre halves.

I've heard and read a lot about Okazaki but I personally don't think his role in the team should be underestimated. Yes we'd like him to score more goals or at least create more goal scoring opportunities but his pressing and energy up front frees up our other 3 attacking players. He doesn't give a defender a moments rest

It's basically like having Kante playing up front

This!

To be fair to Watford, I thought first half they stopped us playing and nullified our attacking pretty well. Second half Ranieri's tactics helped us win the game, and something I pointed out on Twitter a few weeks back was his tactics in the games so far this season have been spot on.

Watford are a tidy side and passed the ball around well, Deeney and Ighalo are a superb strike partnership so can see them staying up.

Credit to Watford as well for the banner of Remembrance. Both sets of fans respected the whole occasion brilliantly.

Fantastic again. Should've been far more comfortable as we battered them.

Vardy is a hero and DD and Kante were superb. Felt sorry for Kante with the penalty because before that he was on a different level.

I actually think that's the best the defence has looked this season. Wes in particular was a man mountain.

Feels so good to support this club

I felt sorry for him because Fuchs gave him a bollocking for it! lol

Drinkwater for captain

He has a captains mentality doesn't he? I just wonder if he can keep his place once James is fit again. It will be interesting to see how it all develops.

Deeney and Ighalo are a hell of a partnership. Didn't quite come off today but their runs off one another and their link up play is superb, Ighalo was unlucky not to score first half. They were also good on the ball but with little threat when they were knocking it about at the back.

We were marginally worse first half but picked it up second half, and we're getting better at seeing out a win. Albeit we've given away two penalties in the last two games to make it more tricky for ourselves, but we're holding out. What a time to be a City fan :scarf:

Agreed.

Ighalo in particular Impressed me. Great touch, pace and strength. One to keep an eye on.. Combined with Deeney they dominated Huth and Wes first 30 but to be fair both came back strongly and marshalled them much more effectively second half.

Just been on Watford's forum, deluded bunch they r.

Looking through this thread I think we've been very complementary about them, strange they haven't been at all the same.

Easy to be complementary to teams you've just beaten when you're third in the Premier League, mind.

That was our last Saturday 3pm home game this year.

What this video doesn't show is the amount of time it took Mahrez to give the ball to Vardy. Fair play to him for doing it but it took alot of pressure from the crowd and drinky for him to do it.

I would imagine he would be focused and wasnt thinking about anything other than scoring the pen, until DD and or the crowd let him know.

lol yeah right. Mahrez and Vardy had a long conversation about who should take it from the moment it was given. Vardy gave up on it and then Mahrez caved under pressure from Drinkwater and the crowd at the last minute.

Fair enough, only seen it on telly.
