CovFox Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Forgive me if this has already been discussed - I'm not on this forum too often so don't know it inside out. During a night out in Newcastle two weeks ago after the game, I got talking to a Sunderland fan who my mate knew. He asked what was different to last year and why we were so good all of a sudden. Besides the obvious Vardy/Mahrez combo, I said that Drinkwater and Kante were key, and that I thought Drinky would get an England call up before the end of the season. He shook his head and dismissed it straight away and, having a had more than a few beers by this point, I made the bold statement that I thought he was a certainty for a call up. Was I being drunkenly optimistic or do we think this could happen? Wasn't at the game today but heard that he had another storming game.
Guest ttfn Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 4 months until the next game and Hodgson isn't interested in anybody who doesn't play for the big 6 anymore. Three guesses as to which game Hodgson was at today?
Dan Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 If he played for any other side in the top seven he'd have been called up a while ago.

Guest ttfn Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Seriously dont know, but guessing at WBA v Spurs? Got it in one.
Clever Fox Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 it may be too late for him not because he doesn't deserve a place but simply because it may be too late. Mangers very often settle on their squad a year or more before the Competition and then continues to work with the squad to hone them into the system he wants them to play. So unless someone gets injured and drops out he may have to wait for the World Cup in another 4 years. but on current form he certainly deserves consideration.
EGBFitness Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 It's already killing Woy deep inside that he has to pick Vardy. Could he really allow himself to pick Drinky and maybe Albrighton too?
Vacamion Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Hodgson will do his usual - picking a shed load of lightning fast wingers, plus some strikers he plays as wingers, plus James fvcking Milner, along with one "holding" type (probs Henderson). So sadly, no.
Captain... Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Maybe after the Euros, hopefully after Roy has gone, but can't see him going to France, if he is ever called up he will suffer in the same way Vardy did, England don't play like Leicester and Roy won't appreciate him giving the ball away trying to get attacks going and creating goal scoring chances. Possession stats > creating chances according to England.
Benji Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 I'm expecting an analysis of his performance on MotD. Sublime.
EnglishOxide Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 He does everything well, but there's nothing outstanding about him. He keeps improving and is better than most of the shit picked by England though that's for sure. You are only as good as your team mates when it comes to midfield positions IMO, that's why im not sure he would impress as much if he didn't have Kante beside him. His performance today though was spot on.
Jimothy Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 I really don't get why Woy keeps going to Spurs games. He knows he likes Kane, Alli and Dier. He's seen enough of Rose and hasn't called him up, and Walker is a squad regular even if he's not guaranteed a spot. What more is he expecting to learn? He was only at Leicester last week because we were playing Man Utd and Spurs weren't playing at the same time. Surely a few trips to Palace, Leicester, Southampton etc to look at the likes of Drinky, Ward-Prowse, Puncheon, Dann. Maybe even pop down to the odd Watford or Norwich match and see what their best players have to offer.
Izzy Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 I really don't get why Woy keeps going to Spurs games. Cos he Iives round the corner of White Heart Lane
Jimothy Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Cos he Iives round the corner of White Heart Lane He travelled to West Brom today!
Izzy Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 He travelled to West Brom today! He's been staying at his Mums who lives near the Hawthorns apparently
benpicko Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 After his below average performance last week that was genuinely fuking amazing tbh
foxes_rule1978 Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Drinkwater and albrighton are banging on the door... continue this form and I expect we will have three players going to the Euros
Jimothy Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 He's been staying at his Mums who lives near the Hawthorns apparently I'm sure he'll be at his Aunties in Southampton in a couple of weeks.
Fox92 Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Seriously dont know, but guessing at WBA v Spurs? Hodgson is a joke. He is basically in love with Kane, anything to see him live. I swear he watches Spurs every week.
AyewJoking Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 if we win the league he will make the stand by list for the Euro 16 squad.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 Hodgson is a joke. He is basically in love with Kane, anything to see him live. I swear he watches Spurs every week. It is annoying but Kane is a great player so could be worse... we would be insane if we got him with Vardy
fuchsntf Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 I reckon Hodgson has rightly looked at the young talent around like Ali, etc. Drinkwater to be Honest has only started producing this season, but saying that there are 3 players, who he could or even should replace...Carrick, Delph, and Milner. One could argue that Milner is our Englands Utility player, but if Drinkwater can carry through to May, he must be in with a chance. Lets see if he gets recognition in the next England friendlies.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 December 2015 Posted 5 December 2015 With Roy as the Fookin manager..I doubt it Even if we win the league and Drinkwater is the player of the season, ol Woy would still pick a semi fit Wilshere over him. Cos he plays for Arsenal.... Biased, saggy cvnt..
