ramboacdc Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 id still aim for 40 points/ guarenteed safety. then aint for minimum points for top 10 (last year 48) then 9th (54) and so on. we are not expected to get the title. we aint expected to break the top 6. take every game as it comes with the pressure off.
Great Boos Up Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 We will get to 40 points and Ranieri will announce our objective is now: ANOTHER 40 POINTS !
Foxymcoxy Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 They have gone from 40 points is our goal to saying our goal is first to get 40 points then see what we can do. Subtle difference but it means they aren't saying we would literally be happy with 8 points from the next 23 games.
LCCFox96 Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 It's just a stock, generic answer the players have been told to trot out whenever asked. Nothing to read into and Mahrez probably does believe we have an outside shot at the title, he's certainly playing like it. If it helps keep the players grounded and focusing on each game at a time, whilst not the most entertaining or inspiring reading/listening, it doesn't bother me.
Clever Fox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 It is that simple, one game at a time mentality is how leagues are won. Prepare well for the next Game. You can only beat what's in front of you any given Day. if you win great if you lose learn from it and move on to the next game. Never get ahead of yourself. That's the only fear that being a young inexperienced team at this level the players get sucked into believing the hype. That's why CR is keeping them grounded with little achievable targets. Onwards and upwards we go.
benn Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Mathematicaly the 40 points for the relegation is false, i don't know why ranieri was fixed this number as goal just to give you in idea, in 2002-2003 : 17e Bolton Wanderers 44 18e West Ham 42 19e West Bromwich Albion 26 20e Sunderland 19 also, 45 points it's not sure mathematically. but 50 points that's for sure.
CharlieCharles Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Sack THE CLOWN! Here i have been believing we are 8 points off safety, its all lies. all bloody lies.

benn Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 prove it,...... mmmmmm not sure. 40 points its just chance of 90 %, but not sure, and specially for the idiot looooook relegation with 42 points hahahahha https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Championnat_d%27Angleterre_de_football_2002-2003

Yes there will be a few occasions where it's not, but usually 40 points will keep you up. And you've used the same example twice, 2002/03, the last time it happened. Other than that it happened in 1996/97 and 1995/96. So basically 3 times in 20 years. So whilst it can happen is doesn't very often.

Your point would be valid if you actually looked at the team's involved this year, especially when half of their players can barely play football.
benn Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 you are trouth, but here i speak only mathematically, i know leicester can get easily more than 50 points my be more than 60 to 70 points or more why not. but to say 40 points its the cap of relegation, that false mathematically its depend for many parameters very complicate. but statistically 90 % its true as i said, but not for sure 100 %. if iam ranieri i said 45 points at least.
ealingfox Posted 12 December 2015 Author Posted 12 December 2015 ealingfox, your original comment is in the Ipaper forum section. Whats that?
Shamomoa Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 I suppose the targets should be. 1. Reach 40 points 2. Enough points for top half 3. Enough points for Europe 5th/6th 4. Top 4 5. Title Until we run out of points we can get.... ;-)
My Nads Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Think we would look like complete fools if we started saying after 15 games " yeah we are gonna win the league!" The press don't ask any other manger if they are going to win the league, it's just because they are surprised we are doing so well. He should just say we are taking one game at a time. The manager saying we are going to win the league would sound a bit stupid, but saying we are only trying to avoid relegation when we are sitting top of the league after 15 games sounds just as stupid.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 No, not getting sick of it. They're saying that to stay grounded, and it's clearly working. This

No he doesn't say avoid relegation he says FIRST target is and always has been reach 40 points! I really do not get what the problem with this is? It's working as is a game at a time so surely as a fan you want this phenomenal form and success to continue?

Our form is irrelevant to Claudio saying our target is 40 point. It was fine a month or two ago, but now it just sounds a bit stupid.
Heymister2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Deluded thinking we'll end up anywhere near the top 4! We haven't beat any big teams in this run! We're a top half side at best! It's the same most seasons! Ie Southampton and west ham flying high getting way ahead of themselves! One finishing 8th and the other 13th?
Carl the Llama Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Our form is irrelevant to Claudio saying our target is 40 point. It was fine a month or two ago, but now it just sounds a bit stupid. If it sounds stupid to you then you're saying that our form is entirely relevant to your view on whether we should be aiming for 40 points first and foremost. Edit. Nvm I've just understood what you're saying. Haven't slept.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Our form is irrelevant to Claudio saying our target is 40 point. It was fine a month or two ago, but now it just sounds a bit stupid. And my opinion differs and it's certainly no fkn biggy or worth crying or losing sleep over! If that's stupid I'm really happy with how stupid is going! COYB
FireFox Posted 12 December 2015 Posted 12 December 2015 Has a club in any country ever won the third, second, and first tiers within 7 years?

Nobody is saying its a cap of relegation, they are just saying its rough amount usually needed to guarantee safety. Nobody can say for certain what number of points will keep you safe, but they can give rough estimate based on passed evidence. You getting to hung up on thinking people are saying exactly 40 points is enough and trying to look clever by finding one example and making yourself look incredibly stupid.

Clearly English isn't your first language so I won't get hung up on your syntax but I'm pretty sure all languages based on the Roman alphabet still use capital letters.
