fuchsntf Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 Depending how long Drinkwater is out for we could possibly change it up and put king and inler in with Kante and just play Vardy Mahrez and Albrighton a bit further forward, Albrighton did struggle to get back in the last 10 minutes or so which was understandable how much running he did but the 3 CM's would help us against the better teams like Liverpool and Everton. No..So DD is injured. Why change it. King is a natural replacement.Ulloa put in , not a technical performance, but a thorough, hard working peformance, with some skillfull hold-ups, flicks and neat layoffs. He mixed it up, often drew 2 players on himself, leaving room for Albrighton, King, Vardy, and Mahrez. He lost the ball no less than Costa, in 2 below avg mix-ups, but Vardy and Mahrez balls up their own runs sometimes.Thats football. Albrighton, would be a good replacement for Milner in the England set up.No he cant fill the utility roll, but cover during a game reshuffel a couple of positions, but exchanging flanks, and his clever runs crosses, or finding space for shots, its not Beckham, but its impressive.Hes the guy one sometimes forgets, then suddenly he breaks up a defensive breakout, and puts in some magic crosses.Slowly equalling the Guppy, Glover, J.Sinclair Weller , eras
Haydos Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 albrighton does that several times a game - which just makes the dozen or so crosses out of play that much more frustrating. High risk, high reward I guess. He tries to hit them precisely with the necessary bend and power to get them to the target fast. Beckham was obviously king at this but with when you're hitting it like that there's more room for error. I'm happy with those duds because we know he's capable of pulling off some special ones.
MANFACE Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 We lost the midfield when Drinkwater went off. Shows how important he is.
HighPeakFox Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 We lost the midfield when Drinkwater went off. Shows how important he is. I respectfully disagree that we lost the midfield at that point.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 Waking up this morning and thinking what a great night it was yesterday. Vardy's volley was superb, and Mahrez's goal was simply outstanding, a real piece of class. The team spirit and togetherness within the side is fantastic, & there's a real link between the players and the fans. The team, work as one unit, and each of them work for each other, it's truly great to see. Back to the Top of the BPL, 2pts clear. So so happy!
goose2010 Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 We lost the midfield when Drinkwater went off. Shows how important he is. We really REALLY didn't! Kante and King were fine, Chelsea changed there formation and one point had 6 midfielders (pedro,Willian,Matic,Fabergas,Ramires,Oscar) on and no real width we didn't change we just sat a little deeper. We changed it and brought inler on which helped as Kante went to nullify Willian which works. Our Midfield was incredible all game and Drinkwater wasn't missed last night. He might be in the coming weeks but he wasn't last night.
Beliall Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 Andy king is more than capable of deputising for Drinkwater.
fuchsntf Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 im almost sure jose has said something to clattemburg at half time. clattenburg literally laughed off every single chelsea appeal first half, yet the same sort of "scuffles" second half were all given as chelsea free kicks? something dodgy there surely. City showed an harder side yesterday, Got noticed more the commentators were Chelsea fans, and had Terry, and Costa as the innocents.Yes Vardy did a job on Costa, but dont we all say, its a mans game...!! If Costa or Terry, stayed hard, playing on the borderline, then great for that I Iike them, its their constant diva impressions, and cry baby antics that psses me off. To be fair I thought Clattenberg handled it well.In fact a couple of times he just smiled and laughed them away. This is one of the Chelseas problems, concentrating on conning the ref, instead of plaxing their opponent. Huth, Morgan had Costa weighed up, he should of scored he couldnt, he was too much inside himself.
BoyJones Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 You're definitely playing down how good our goals were if you think he should have done better with either of them. Hey mate, our goals were sensational, just thought their keeper was poor. Sitting in SK2 he seemed to invite Mahrez to shoot into the far corner, which he duly did in magnificent style. Midfield did well after DD went off, basically outfought the Chelsea midfield. One thing that I thought was disgraceful was basically all the Chelsea team save three players walking off at full time without shaking hands with the ref, our lads or acknowledging their fans. Only the keeper and a couple of others bothered. Disgraceful.
Thracian Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 We lost the midfield when Drinkwater went off. Shows how important he is. What nonsense. We hadn't even scored when Drinkwater went off after 17 minutes...and for all that I think he's been terrific this season ... he hadn't even been playing especially well in any case. Then we went 2-0 up and although characteristically never having the lion's share of possession we generally looked the more dangerous in attack. Mostly this season we've had Kante/Drinkwater/Shinji in centre midfield but last night, against the always sapping passers of Chelsea, we had just Kante and King. It might be argued that we struggled a bit through the 60-80-minutes stage when Ulloa looked absolutely knackered and the entire front and central part of the team was tiring as they did against Manchester United so it was nothing new. But, as so often, Ranieri made adjustments and virtually restored the status quo so that we played the game out quite comfortably in the last 10 minutes. Of course Drinkwater's important but so was every other player out there last night, and so often throughout the season. Drinky wasn't there much last night and didn't have his best game against Manchester United. But we still got four points from those two games and beat the League champions so I don't see we "lost" anything at all.
fuchsntf Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 We lost the midfield when Drinkwater went off. Shows how important he is. You havent seen City this season then, sorry but total rubbish. We always give the 1st half of midfield away, until we attack.Thats why our possesion is always 45% and below, in everygame. King, was an equal replacement.Kante did it a again, but maybe got caught/drawn a few times commiting fouls. But this was Chelsea, who for me still have the most best technical players in the league. Unlike some,I believe this Chelsea will pull themselves up the league, not 4th but top 6-8th, is theirs. I still respect them and Mourhino, they are prats, I dont like them ,but they have been good to watch. Wont suprise me if they have a great champions league.

Guest Col city fan Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 King is an able deputy. I prefer Drinkwater due to his sheer energy. And we did have the spell of being under pressure. But that was expected. .King was fine.

MC Prussian Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 We lost the midfield when Drinkwater went off. Shows how important he is. Err... No, we didn't. King was a 1:1 replacement for most part, and Inler did what he was required to do as an additional force in midfield, defending the increasing amount of Chelsea attacks after they switched to a back three.

Captain... Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 i thought he was half crap too but the bloke behind me thought he'd "played really well". I'd have taken him off waaaay early and put shinji on. he was the energy we needed to get out of own penalty area. ulloa was on for his hold up play and he could barely hold his own body up let alone the ball. never mind. Shinji and Ulloa both suffer from Jekyll and Hyde syndrome, every 5 minutes they will do something good and something crap, he did a lot of good things last night and was involved in the build up to the first goal, but he also made a number of mistakes and it is highlighted by the fact that every other Leicester player is playing at such a high level. He was once again the worst Leicester player that started the game but he wasn't crap.

I agree - it is very hard to see any weak link at the moment, mainly because we play as a team and everyone buys into it. King knew what he had to do and he did it, just like Dyer, Schlupp, Okazaki etc do from the bench. The next game will be a test with the replacements for Drinkwater and Huth both having to step up, but there's nothing to suggest King/Inler or Benalouane/Wasilewski cannot step into their roles. Media talk is shifting from "it won't last" to "it's all down to Mahrez and Vardy" - they forget (or don't realise) we dropped Mahrez for a couple of games without two much disruption. We also have about £20m of striking talent between Kramaric and Okazaki who have not had a run but clearly have some talent. I'd be confident they would step in for a couple of games at least if Vardy got injured (correction, if he got injured enough that he couldn't play!).
fuchsntf Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 You Leicester fans , in the bars and at work, must be having a great day, all the moaners and know-it-alls must be trying hard not to meet your eye today......AGAIN. !!!! Thats what I am missing, the local banter... Though many Germans and others are wanting texting or talking to me about our boys. Some asked me why they couldnt find city in the league table, then find out we are top, and over. They never thought to look there...!!!
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 The difference between attitudes of the two sides last night shone through in the first half. Drinkwater takes an obvious knock, tries to play on and obviously gutted he can't continue. Hazard went down somewhat dubiously, didn't want to carry on and stormed down the tunnel seemingly swearing at Mourinho. Says it all.
ScouseFox Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 Shinji and Ulloa both suffer from Jekyll and Hyde syndrome, every 5 minutes they will do something good and something crap, he did a lot of good things last night and was involved in the build up to the first goal, but he also made a number of mistakes and it is highlighted by the fact that every other Leicester player is playing at such a high level. He was once again the worst Leicester player that started the game but he wasn't crap. He was crap second half but I think he was just knackered, which is why shinji, who is known for and has previously been used to buzz around in the massive space we afforded between matic, fabregas and their other 7 midfielders should've been on about half an hour earlier. but we hung on so its all pretty irrelevant.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 15 December 2015 Posted 15 December 2015 Anyone have full match or extended highlights to download? The boy wants to watch it after school.
