New Expectations

Now we're virtually safe from relegation what are people's new expectations?

From where we are now surely we'd be unhappy with anything less than a top half finish?

Nosing through everton's forum before yesterday they were quite underwhelmed by our league position because they've seen it all before with the likes of Southampton and Newcastle (first two that spring to my mind) and teams invariably fall away as the season goes on.

I think that's a fair enough thing to think- we wouldn't be the first nor last team to do so, and let's be honest- We all know if a teams going to cock something up or do it the hard way it's usually Leicester.

Apparently though 60 points tends to see sides qualifying for Europe. So we now need another 22points from the remaining 21 games. Pretty much a point a game- which even last season we accomplished despite our awful run this time last year.

Europe shouldn't be out of reach and I'm going to have to seriously start contemplating taking my house off the market so I can remortgage and fund our European travels next season!

Thoughts?

To miss out on CL qualification now would be very disappointing

until january is out of the way ive got no expectations we must keep hold of vardy and mahrez it doesnt matter what claudio or top says if someone comes in with mega wages offer and is a massive club it will be the players who want to go .

we dont want unhappy players at the club who want to be elsewhere so lets wait and see

If we finish top ten I suppose I'd be happy enough after the fact but I'd be gutted with th collapse it would take for us to finish between 7th and 10th now.

I want Europa League as a minimum really. I'd love to see European football in Leicester again; to be honest I'd given up on it ever happening. I'll definitely be making a couple of trips. Champion's League football would just be amazing and I can't yet allow myself to believe it could happen.

In a strange way finishing fourth would be awful. We'd have a very tough qualifying round to get through to make the CL group stages. I'd much rather us be guaranteed group stage football in either European competition (I know there's an EL play off too but it's much less tough), for the sake of my mental health if nothing else.

I'd rather CL or a collapse. I don't want to be anywhere near the Europa League.

It's a good competition and English clubs are the only ones daft enough not to take it seriously. It will be a big reason for us losing our fourth CL spot to Italy in the next two or three seasons. I'd be delighted to see us in it, as I was to be in its predecessor in 1997 and 2000. We're Leicester City. We really can't turn our noses up at any sort of European competition. It doesn't happen often enough for us to have that privilege.

I think the next target ranieri will set is top 8 or top 6... Purposely underplaying perhaps what the real target has to be from here, so as not to put pressure on ourselves.

To be in the Champions League or in Europe would be a dream. It's amazing really, to be talking about what we have the potential to do this season. I mean, I said before the start of the Premier League campaign I'd be happy with comfortable survival. Now to be discussing possible champions league prospects or to be in Europe is incredible.

If we somehow get 4 or 6 points from the next two games then we are genuine title contenders.

I can't believe I've just said that lol

Seriously though we have to take each game as it comes- like we have been doing- but it would be quite disappointing to not get into either European competition now, assuming that at least one top 5 team wins a domestic cup. Imagine the atmosphere of winning in a CL qualifier!

When we do get the 40pts and survival is guaranteed, I think our chances of a top 6 finish will be heightened as the pressure will be off us. For me, safety in the league is already a success in itself, so whatever happens it'll be a good season. Although at this stage I can understand the view that as we're in the position we're in, it would be good to set our sights on the champions league or Europe.

I think his next publicly-stated target will be top 10. We're 15 points ahead of Everton, currently in tenth, so this is a worthwhile target to tell the Press which doesn't put pressure on the players.

I'm sure Claudio and the team are looking at top 6 but we won't hear that until it's a mathematical certainty.

I would love for us to achieve champions league although I fear we will go through a bad spell where we don't get any points for 5/6 games leaving us fighting for a Europa league place.

sometimes you have to laugh these people saying they would be dissapointed if we didnt make champions league and be dissapointed if we only made europa cup . get a grip it was not long ago we was playing in league 1 and we only just survived relegation last year lol

I've wanted Europe for years so I wouldn't go as far to say I'd be gutted if we finished 5th, but given where we are now I think it'd be pretty awful for us not to make the top four given how good a side we clearly are.

I have been saying we are title contenders, for weeks.

I will feel ever-so-slightly disappointed if we don't win it, tbh; there will never be a better chance.

To qualify for Europe. I would be ecstatic if we qualified for the champions league . Slightly gutted given our position atm with the Europe league.

But I feel the players and 'The Don' need to keep stating ten point targets i.e. 50 next 60,70 etc

See where it takes us...

I'd just like us to finish in the top 3. Auto Champions League qualification (No ****ing July qualifier) and all the prestige that comes with it. Addition of some quality players in the summer to keep us moving forwards in the next few years. It seems greedy to say the title but who knows what will happen, after all if Greece can win the Euros we can win the Premier League!
