Simo86 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Just seen this. Can't decide if it'd be good business or not. I rate Atsu, but not sure I rate him enough to lose Mahrez. When have you seen Atsu play exactly? He's made a handful of appearances for Everton and Bournemouth in the last 2 years. There is no way I would want him to replace Mahrez. He couldn't get into the Bournemouth side so why would he be good enough for ours?

Appalling business if we get to the end of the season and he gets player of the year or even in team of the year we'd get 40mill for him. If we make the champs league he'll probably stay. Astu is shocking and not worth over 5mill

Astu is shocking and not worth over 5mill Jesus, you're all a bit grumpy this morning aren't you! The brief amount I've seen him, he looked like he had potential but just needed consistent game time. When have you seen him play to tell me he isn't good enough? We might rate Mahrez at £40million now (although that figure actually means nothing), but if his poor form continues until May we won't get anywhere near that for him. And anyway; I said in my original post I wasn't sure I rated him enough to replace Mahrez, not sure what you're both getting your knickers in a twist about.
johnny the fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Just seen this. Can't decide if it'd be good business or not. I rate Atsu, but not sure I rate him enough to lose Mahrez. would any player be happy coming here knowing he was just a make weight for a deal..? I know I wouldn't .
thybluefox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 would any player be happy coming here knowing he was just a make weight for a deal..? I know I wouldn't . Nah, probably not! I can't see the club going for it anyway. We all know they like to scout a player for a long time, and unless Atsu's been on the radar for a while they won't be interested I bet.
adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Atsu is a class player and with regular playing time could be as good as mahrez I would still try 25 mill + atsu thou see how desperate they are

Maybe the club and most of the fans aren't looking at Mahrez as a commodity to cash in at a high price, surely the thing to do is strengthen around Mahrez with players that are just as good or better. Transfermarket has him down as having a stress response of the bone since sept and before that he hasn't made the bench, the season before a few league and Europa appearances for Everton. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-atsu/leistungsdaten/spieler/186997 There is no way this deal is real, less than our owners spend on fuel for their private planes/helicopter (slight exaggeration I know)in cash and a meat puppet that can't run due to sore bones or get in a Bournemouth/Everton team for our most creative and exciting player in a long time that has helped the king power brand/LCFC to become known around the world. Any deal for Mahrez will be to a big club for a huge price, otherwise it will make the club and owners look like chumps.

Three clubs don't want/need him and if he was class wouldn't the coaches want to train and work with him to make him first team ready?

I agree, we should be, I was replying to dylanlegend's comment about holding onto him now and selling for £40million in the summer.
Nick Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 We don't need 15 million or that player. if Mahrez really wants to go to a big club, sell him to the Gunners in the summer and we'll take the Ox off them in part ex.
AyewJoking Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 you have to question mahrez's mindset if he is upset that teams are now doubling up on him. if you want to be a top player, what do you expect, for defenders to give you plenty of room so you can do your thing? I doubt this would make him sad or disinterested anyway, probably frustrated he hasnt played as well as he knows he can lately. he will have to get over it. here we go.........

I wouldnt say its the doubling up that upsets him, but maybe the extra kicks he is getting.... And quite frankly, the doubling up is the price you have to pay for having stand out stars in your team. We have a bloody good team, but there's no denying that Mahrez and Vardy are our stand out stars...
Guest Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 A few papers are saying chelsea are considering making a 20 million bid for mahrez. Whats everyones thoughts? Worth a lot more to us and we don't want some player who can't get in a low prem team plus cash either.
Guest Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Atsu is a class player and with regular playing time could be as good as mahrez I would still try 25 mill + atsu thou see how desperate they are Nothing like as good as Mahrez - obviously otherwise Chelsea wouldn't want to get rid. If we like Atsu we should just give them a cash offer for him - they clearly don't rate him that much.
Will1981 Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Atsu is doggo plus if we end up with an all african squad we will be screwed next january.
thybluefox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Atsu is doggo plus if we end up with an all african squad we will be screwed next january. In the context of swapping him for Mahrez, this post made me face palm pretty hard.
Alex_LCFC Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Atsu is doggo plus if we end up with an all african squad we will be screwed next january. that's something I would expect Michael Owen to say

We have a bloody good team, but there's no denying that Mahrez and Vardy are our stand out stars... shouldnt be upset by extra kicks either, it happens in the game, all these highly paid, highly coached footballers but the answer to a player with real quality is "kick him" if mahrez cannot rise above these "tactics" then how far does he expect to go in his career? im sure he will come to terms with it but we could do with other players stepping up and taking some of the pressure/spotlight away from him.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Atsu has shown promise in flashes but generally seems to not be good enough for prem level, so waste of time, 15 million? Don't think we need to sell at that price.
ALC Fox Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Not worth it. 2 other Premier League clubs (not counting his parent club) have failed to spot his potential while he was with them. Mahrez has now proved he can do the business in the Premier League. £15m + a player who 'might' be good enough in a few years is not worth the same as what Mahrez is worth to us now. No deal.
englebert Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 If Atsu isn't good enough for Chelsea why would they think we'd want him? It's not like they can't afford a proper cash only offer so think they're being a bit daft trying to offload on us. I suspect this is all to turn Mahrez's head in the hope he puts in a TR.
HEGGSY Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Marca reporting that Chelsea have offered £15m + Christian Atsu for Mahrez
Guest NGoloMode Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Marca reporting that Chelsea have offered £15m + Christian Atsu for Mahrez Embarrassing offer honestly.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 I feel that Mahrez would be playing in a No.10 role if it wasn't for Schlupp being injured.
