StanSP Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Worn glasses for years. Got bullied at school for wearing them. Love wearing them now cos they help me see . Got some from Specsavers. Silver frame, silver and black 'arms'. Agree with @@AKCJ that you don't need something extortionately priced. You can still get stylish ones for a decent price (i.e. below £100)
Thracian Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Ever thought about laser treatment. My youngest had it done in Birmingham, thought the whole process to be quick and easy and has never looked back as far as I can tell. Mind you, he could still improve the teams he chooses for a bet at the weekends so there's still perhaps room for improvement! Me? I wear blinkers. Same as Rincey but a different colour!
Jay Posted 8 January 2016 Posted 8 January 2016 Just try plenty of pairs on and see which ones you like. I have a pair of Armani and Oakley. I also like glasses with the proper nose Clip/grip type things instead of the more plastic ones with no nose grips as I don't find them comfortable for more than about 3minutes. And contact lenses are horrible evil things, some people love them but I just didn't get on with them at all
Dan Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 I've worn them all my life although would rather not. I'm trying contacts at the minute but quickly losing patience with them. May look into laser treatment.

May look into laser treatment.Stick with the contacts, I almost gave up after a week, took about 45 mins to get the pair in!. Try daily disposables wear them for less than 5/6 hrs so they won't dry your eyes so much.
ozleicester Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Started wearing glasses about 8 years ago (happens to over 40s apparently). Just wear standard tidy black frames from specsavers, cheap as chips. I always assumed that the only people who go for all the "name brand" bollox are those try hard Kardashion types and 20 year old chav wannabes... cant imagine grown men paying 100s of dollars just for a little name tag on their glasses
lianne81 Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Really depends on your face shape etc hun , you are best try as many as possible that you can on , then try and find the same somewhere cheaper if you have your prescription which you are allowed to request anyhow. xx

After losing many pairs glasses to my kids hands I just do not see the point of spending hundreds on them. xx
Samilktray Posted 9 January 2016 Author Posted 9 January 2016 Contact lenses are a no go, just thinking about poking around with my eye makes me wanna throw up.
Webbo Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Contact lenses are a no go, just thinking about poking around with my eye makes me wanna throw up. I'm the same, can't bear the thought.
Dr The Singh Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 I'm the same, can't bear the thought.Wear them all the time, totally safe. You never actually touch your eye
Christoph Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Make sure you go for what ever deal they're offering and get 2. Always worth having 2 pairs. So easy to lose/break glasses.
kyleolly Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 Got some duck and cover glasses were meant to be £90 but I got them for £3.50 because i get tax credits!
Livid Posted 9 January 2016 Posted 9 January 2016 At that age where I need bifocals. Used to get two decent pairs with standard lenses for what I'm now paying for one decent pair of bifocals.

I wear Persol sunglasses so might invest in some of their specs too. No little tags on these though, I find necessary labels far too gaudy!
Rincewind Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 As a kid I used to have the National Health ones. There was not a lot of choice for the less well off families. Now I go for the mid range. I get a discount because of my age and the eye tests are free because the history of Glaucoma in the family. Even though I am short sighted I need reading glasses. I tried bifocals and contacts but could not get on with them. If I have to change I try for a different colour or style but won't have the really expensive ones.
Mike Oxlong Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Eyesight's not great but I can't see myself wearing them
Rincewind Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 I have always worn them so cannot imagine myself not wearing them. They are part of me. I am so vain as not to know that. I say accept me as I am or bugger off.
