ThaiFox Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Ranieri said after the Liverpool game that the side was tired and could not keep up the pace of playing the way we were up to that point. Playing that relentless style, at the pace we play, has worn us out. To me it seems he has gone for a more solid defense and sacrificed our earlier superb playing style. There are too many players carrying slight injuries, are too match tired, or have just lot the edge or form that made us the most exciting team in the P/L. This is where we find out about the team, and especially Ranieri. Maybe it's the time to play fresher players for a game or two? After all, we looked a far better side against Tottingham in the cup than we did in either the league match there, or tonights poor display. Lets see Wasyl back for a game or three, Inler given a run (even Kante looked tired tonight) even Kram up front? I bet if CR plays last Sunday's cup side on Wednesday we look a lot sharper than we did tonight. We could fall away if CR doesn't come up with another plan, because playing a defensive game like tonight with long balls is not the answer. Teams were scared stiff of us six weeks ago, now I suspect they are starting to fancy their chances. But I really don't think it's because they have worked us out, because no team could cope with our power and pace, but that's gone in the past few matches and we are not going for the throat anymore.
Tielemans63 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 This is why I think it's crucial to bring in 3 or 4 quality players in this transfer window, I thought the team looked out on their feet even before half time. Bring in some fresh legs and hopefully we can get back to what we do best and take the burden off some of our regular players.
weller54 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 Huth was very poor today... They should have had a nailed on penalty for his elbow in the box.. And might have been a straight red too.. Would like to see Wasilewski replace him!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 At the moment Vardy's making about a quarter of the runs he usually does. So many times in the first half today Albrighton or Fuchs got the ball on the left, looked up for the standard ball into the channel for Vardy and he wasn't showing for it.
matty98 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 I think we've become a bit predictable, having Schlupp back soon will help hopefully, if he's one thing it's unpredictable
Number 6 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 its January the 16th. we are top of the Premier League. 3 clean sheets and 6 points from Bournemouth, villa, man city and spurs is a decent return....however we came about them, get a grip Doesn't mean the discussion can't be had? No one here is saying we're in a terrible mess. We can still look to improve. In fact we're not even asking that, just a return to the more fluid football earlier on. We mixed it up much more then. We're bypassing the midfield very often now.
Charl91 Posted 16 January 2016 Author Posted 16 January 2016 Huth was very poor today... They should have had a nailed on penalty for his elbow in the box.. And might have been a straight red too.. Would like to see Wasilewski replace him! To be fair, if you want to switch out Huth for another player because of wayward elbows, then Wasilewski probably isn't your answer
Guest seanfox778 Posted 16 January 2016 Posted 16 January 2016 The first half v Everton was when I first felt a change in our play, before that we played some beautiful one touch football in games. I felt we were lucky to go in at half time at Goodison level and we got two quick fire 2nd half goals which sealed the game for us. Since then it seems we've lost a bit of confidence, I think that was when people started taking us seriously and we lost our underdog status a bit, now we have a bit of pressure on us to win games and maybe it's getting to the players a little bit. I hope I'm wrong and this is just a mini blip though, still only lost twice, still top of the league and still an amazing season so far. Spurs and Stoke at home should both be decent affairs.

Fair enough and worth a discussion...although I fear some are forgetting how far we have come.
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Yes kneejerk, yes reactionary and its getting sickening and fvcking embarrassing now!Of course today is disappointing but look at our position, the season and get a fkn grip you moaning unrealistic and deluded fools. Bad days and disappointing results happen and stop acting like we're fkn Barca all of a sudden, we're not!!! We were more like Farca yesterday!
whoareyaaa Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 check out my signature, thats the kinda of football we WAS playing, there has 100% been a change in the way we are appoaraching games maybe it was just to get us over the Christmas period and the bigger games where we would need to play tighter and different. Against Villa last night there was glimpses of how we started the first 15 games, wizzing the ball around, quick movment etc... but unfortunatly it just wasn't clicking I can see us going back to that quick passing style from here on in I think last night was the first signs.
Richmondfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 If we had won would be calling us a long ball team? I don't think we play long ball in the sense of punting it to the man in the box for a knock down, we tend to put the ball over into spaces which the players have to run into and still have a lot of work to do to bring it under control, run and get the shot in.
sphericalfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We need to change our method of play because the players were running themselves into the ground. No team can maintain that kind of physical strain. It's not the same entertaining football, and concessions in this method are a byproduct. Defensively we've tightened up too, and for me goal difference could be a vital difference in potential Champs League/ Europa League.
linemakers Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I thought the first half we played quick passing football looked sharp and rightfully had the lead. This changed with the pen which gave hope to a poor villa side and brought their crowd to life. At 2-0 the game would have been over but the miss lifted them and just put doubt into our minds. From then onwards we didn't pass or pressure enough and let them back into the game. The injury/taking off of Okazaki didn't help as we weren't able to press their defence. Think we do need another striker to give us a lift and push on again
Guest LCFC_World Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Aston Villa1-1Leicester Tottenham0-1Leicester Tottenham2-2Leicester Leicester0-0Bournemouth Leicester0-0Man City Liverpool1-0Leicester Everton2-3Leicester Leicester2-1Chelsea All of these games have been very close together, and we have Tottenham on Wednesday again. The way we were playing required a lot of energy, and there was no way that we were going to keep that up over this busy period. I can't believe some of the posts that I have read either. We are LEICESTER CITY not Barcelona! We can't win every game...! I wouldn't worry anyway, i'm sure we will get back to how we were playing soon, and to say we are now a 'long ball' team, we haven't done too bad.
Charl91 Posted 17 January 2016 Author Posted 17 January 2016 If we had won would be calling us a long ball team? Yeah. We were long ball vs. Spurs.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I understand the concerns, but I don't really care how we play, i've always been the same, results are a priority for me, ok we've not got a result today but generally it is working, it has worked. I do want to see us play well but results are the be all and end all, playing well comes after getting consistant results, which fair enough we should be looking at, but if how we're playing works, why change it? That's rubbish - if you get 'results' but without playing well you know that really it's a false positive, because sooner rather than later you will fall flat on your backside. At least if performances are positive, you can be re-assured that things aren't that far away and with the appropriate tweaks, results will then follow. True, their may be the odd game where a team "plays ugly" and wins, which every team has to have, but those teams that win things, are successful by and large show good performances week in, week out.
Richmondfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Yeah. We were long ball vs. Spurs. I don't think we were long ball in the sense why people say it in a derogatory way. Spurs play their centre backs at the half way line, you just need to pop th eball over when we can. Sometimes we do go long ball and I thinks because of Kaspers long kicks rather than the players punting it at every chance. It doesn't help that Vardy and Mahrez are getting several men on them at all times and chopped at every opportunity.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We were more like Farca yesterday! We were disappointing 2nd half granted, didn't lose, we're still top and where we are is surely way beyond pre season expectations?
filbertway Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We were disappointing 2nd half granted, didn't lose, we're still top and where we are is surely way beyond pre season expectations? What's your point with this? I'm sure 100% of people on here are ecstatic that we are where we are currently. Are you not at all concerned by our recent performances and style of play?
Socks Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 its January the 16th. we're top of the league. Carry on the way we are going and believe me we soon wont be
deejdeej Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Carry on the way we are going and believe me we soon wont bewhat a cvnt. Knee jerk reactions galore.
Harry - LCFC Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 what a cvnt. Knee jerk reactions galore. It's not an incorrect statement. If we keep playing as we are (i.e. not scoring) we will slip down the table. Have to get back to playing as we were pre-Liverpool.
Foxxed Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Could be playing deeper since our energetic style of football is really ****ing punishing when you're playing a stupid amount of games over Christmas and New Year, as ThaiFox alluded to, or just to try to get us playing decently like that too.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 What's your point with this? I'm sure 100% of people on here are ecstatic that we are where we are currently. Are you not at all concerned by our recent performances and style of play? Ask that question of Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and to a degree Man City. Look at the quality and depth of their squads and you can maybe justify the kneejerk reactions and unrealistic expectations and criticisms! Our 100 mile an hour pressing game was bound to wain a little with tiredness, niggling injuries and or strength in depth. Ranieri has been managing that and arguably bigger and stronger teams have had far more blips and bad results.... that is my point! I say get real, respect what our manager and team have achieved so far and support not think you're better or know more than Claudio and the lads when you do not!
