49er Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Agreed. Plus Mahrez's and Kante's level has dropped - they can't be world beaters every week - and for 6 weeks we've been playing with a half fit main striker, but we are still top. When Vardy gets up to full speed we will be a potent attacking force once again I hope. We do however need another striker to have any chance of top 4. I appreciate that Vardy isn't hitting the back of the net with the regularity that we saw in the matches a few weeks ago, but nevertheless he continues to make a significant contribution: - Chip set up Okazaki's goal - Cross to Mahrez led to penalty - Created a chance towards the end of the game that could have won us the game - Set up a chance for Drinkwater in the second half - Fouled for the penalty against Bournemouth - Hit the post against Bournemouth - Great shot turned away against Bournemouth - Latched onto a through ball against Man City and, unfortunately, shot over - Fouled for the penalty against Everton - Set up the goal for Okazaki at Everton What he needs is a quality striker alongside him, so the cheque book needs to come out in January.

foxile5 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 This this is ****ing fantastic. I don't care what anyone else thinks. Look at what you're even considering. This season is ****ing amazing.
C-man Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Depends what average you look at because the addition of Man City to the 'elite' changed the nature of the league 5 years ago, as did the financing of Chelsea 5 years prior to that. The averages are: - 5 years - 72 - 10 years - 71 - 15 years - 69 - 20 years - 68 Manchester United, currently in 5th, are on course for 64 points so we are looking anything as low as 65 might be enough! 6 wins and 3 draws...
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 There is absolutely no chance we will finish in the top 4 lets be realistic Top 10 will still be an amazing season really

If we only achieved 7 points from now on I would back us to be relegated next season. Would be tragic.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 as i said last night, we get to 65 just by winning all our "winnable" home games. bare in mind we've only lost twice all season you'd have to expect we pick up some points from our "trickier" home games and some of our away games (sunderland, palace, watford to name but three). it'd be a disaster of a half season if we didn't get to 70 points from here imo and i'm almost sure that will be enough, with the teams in 5th/6th needing to average more than 2 points per game to get to 70. we're in a fantastic position, and we've got enough "easy" games to make sure we stay there. ScouseFox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 There are no "easy" games at this level. hence the " ". and really there is. sunderland at home this season, newcastle away, swansea away to name three off the top of my head. all expected to be pretty easy, all an absolute stroll in the park. but yeah, there is quite a few games we have left, west brom, swansea, newcastle, sunderland, most the bottom half at home. they're "winnable" to say the least. and when we win them we'll finish at least fourth like i said.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I think any judgement on how we may fair along the finishing straight should be reserved until after the next 4 games. It very unlikely we will get 12 out of 12 and certainly more probable we get as little as 0-4, in which case the table and our position would look very different. I'm thinking we need around 6+ from this group to maintain our position heading into an international break - if we got that, then maybe, just maybe, our fans should make sure their passports are up to date.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We are already ahead of last years total, enough for 14th. 8/9th would require relegation form, which isn't likely. It's not the average for 4th we should be interested in, this is a common mistake. It is the average for 5th plus one that has to be the target. 65ish will possibly be enough.
Great Boos Up Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We're Leicester...we're Leicster...we're Leicester...we're Leicester.. We're Europe...we're Europa...we're once good...we fv(ked it ! Sigh
Vardinio'sCat Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I've mentally targeted 68 to give us some wiggle room. 24 points in 16 games is mid table form, and that is doable.
BluethroughtheMiddle Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We have a tough few games ahead, based on yesterday's performance alone I would be worried, if we can get 25 points out of the remaining games given our lack of depth in the squad and what looks like fatigue really plaguing us, then I will be very impressed. Fingers crossed and COYB.

BluethroughtheMiddle Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Man U are turning their form around and Man City are pushing on. We need to step up a bit compared to our last few games to stay in the top 4 methinks.
goose2010 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We are joint top after 22 games, what's the point in trying to predict it? Just enjoy the incredible season we are having

FoxFossil Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Actually we need one more point than 5th place, so this is the target, not the average for 4th place.Sooo....only one team has ever got 72 points and finished 5th. 68 points would have given you 4th for 9 out of 10 years which is a pretty good bet this season. So I go for 69 (narff narff)

Finn Claw II Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 This season is odd so who knows, Man Utd are winning which is ominous and Spurs are decent. Both have strong squads. I'd be delighted with 6 points from our next 4 games. Spurs and Man Utd both have an easier set of fixtures than us so the gap is likely to close.
