In the Summer?

Recommended Posts

Much as i would love the dream to continue, im expecting to see players leave in the summer.

1) Mahrez, cannot imagine we will be able to hold him, expecting the very biggest and best to come in for him.

2) Vardy, Im sure he loves it here and the new contract is great, but i can see him being offered all sorts to move to one of the (little) four. Guessing that he will have to take an opportunity.

3) Kante, No longer under the radar, every club in the league would benefit from him and can see the $$ being thrown around.

Kasper, Drinky and Fuchs could easily be targets.

I'd watch the language in the title, fwiw.

Anyway, Fuchs isn't going anywhere. He's stated in interviews that he intends to see out his contract and then play in MLS in a few years to be closer to his family (his wife and kids live in NYC). Doubt Kasper goes anywhere either, because if he did it would have been years ago IMO.

I fear what you mention in your post, but the optimistic side of me says that with at least one year of Champions League football (in the group stage, hopefully), most all of the players will feel compelled to stay at least one more year to finish what they started. Surely the owners are astute enough to bump all their wages over the summer.

Not going to happen.

If Everton can hold on to Stones despite the lure of CL football elsewhere, then we can hold on to our stars too especially since we CAN offer CL football (assuming it doesn't all go tits up).

People keep bringing Southampton losing their players into it but they never reached the heights we did. Kante and Riyad will almost certainly move on, but not for another season yet IMO.

We've got several things going for us that other clubs don't have like everyone seems to get on with everyone at our club, everyone appears to be settled and fairly happy with how the club is being run. All our facilities are top class, the players appear to enjoy the sports science side of it and our match recovery techniques seem to keep our players in top shape and injury free. Another thing is how our owners look after the players by rewarding them with trips and probably bonuses. Add Champions League into the mix (touch wood) and we are a good club to work for from the outside. If a big club came in for our stars, there's no guarantee that everything will be so rosey by moving clubs. We just have to hope our players share the same vision as the owners and see the potential of our club, it feels like we could be on the verge of something great happening here and hopefully they may want to be a part of it.

Maybe we should go on a losing streak and hope that our better players lose form and then maybe they won't be wanted in the summer.

This is such a small-minded concern

Doesn't bother me but the thread will get closed/deleted if you don't take the word "rape" out of it so might as well change it now if you want a discussion to continue.

Please explain to me why vardy would sign a new deal if he wanted to leave.

Yes I know contracts are worth feck all in reality. But if your 28 and on 40k a week it makes you a much more interesting proposition than 28 and on 80s having just signed a brand new deal.

After all. The club can now ask for a hell of a lot more money and what club is gonna pay it and offer him over a 100k. Madness if anyone does.

My, we do have some delicate flowers on here.

Players usually move to the established top sides for two reasons - money and European football, and we should be able to match both.

Also, the adventure doesn't end in the summer if we are in Europe. This is a tight bunch of players, and I can see them wanting the fairytale to continue. Mahrez and Kanté are young enough to give us another couple of years and still get the big moves, and I think Vardy will finish his career here.

Blimey mate you really are depressed this morning after the Arsenal loss. Good job you are not a Villa fan as you would probably top yourself......

Be just as interesting what happens off the pitch, assuming Pearson gets back into management will Shakey and Walsh be on the move?

Potentially a huge summer of change, fortunately I think we can trust the owners to make the right decisions if such change comes about.

It is a slight concern as to whether we'll keep our current players. Having said that, it's only natural due to how well the performance levels have been throughout the season.

If we do however keep the players we've got or at least the core group, and with some new additions in the summer, I'd be hopeful of another positive campaign next season. And hopefully the current squad with possible new additions will flourish together in the CL (if we get there).

Seriously though...

Yes you can pay for success, but it's up to the board, scouts, etc to bring in replacements. Look at Southampton that year, they lost tons of players and were tipped to go down but brought in replacements and have been fine since

In the words of Brendan Rodgers ( lol )

It is better to have players that are coveted by others

Than to have players who are coveted by none !

Long live Emperor Claudio !

Maybe I'm naive but Vardy has set our stall out by signing a new contract with no fuss.

It puts more pressure on Mahrez and Kante to stay in this tight knit squad. Both of them still have three years left on their contracts come summer so the club decide if they get sold and I'm sure Ranieri will resist all temptation  to sell as he building a team and these two are players who are capable of playing in a team that could win the Champions League.

It will take a Gareth Bale type offer from the most elite of clubs to prise them away.

Give them a new contract before the last day of the season and they'll be no worries. If anything include a buyout clause of £50-60 million to keep any cvnt agents happy.

Hey guys, let us not forget that The Premiership is regarded as the best & highest quality league in World football.

Many of the best players want to come to England & play in the Prem. If a football club in the Prem have top quality players, which we have, there are possibly only 2 clubs that could temp such players to leave the Prem to join them........Barcelona & Real Madrid. The biggest threat possibly comes from Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea & Liverpool.

There will undoubtedly be some huge bids coming in for our players, but City do not have to sell for financial reasons (thanks to the owners), the players all seem very happy to be with City, there is terrific camaraderie within the team, we will imo qualify for Champions league, again imo the guys want to play for the gaffer.......they like the guy, terrific facilities at the football club, probably some or maybe all of the 1st team will be offered a new contract & more Wonga, so why would they want to move?

City will be looking to bring in a few new players therefore Claudio will want to move a few out, but those that remain will know that if they retain their current form, their name will be on the team sheet each week. Happy Days!!!

I wouldn't want to leave my employer if I had such job satisfaction as they have.
