I'm in a temporary role at work where I travel the country to different sites, and am provided with a rental for the period I'm away. I'm using this as an opportunity to test new cars for when I replace mine. I've always bought old second hand cars for cash, so I've never driven such new cars before, it's quite nice and exciting to find out what I will have next. So far I had a 2024 toyota corolla hybrid estate for a few months, really nice car, quite quick and economical but it just looks too much like an uber. I dont think I've ever seen one that isn't a taxi and that is a bit off putting for some reason. I then spent a week in a citroen c4 and it was genuinely the worst car I've ever driven (and some of my personal cars have been rough!). 24 plate petrol, 8k miles, sounded like a rough diesel, the steering wheel wasn't straight when going forward, the heads up display was shite (I've never driven with one before and found it very distracting). It was very slow aswell, whilst absolutely drinking fuel.

I pick up my next one on Monday and am hoping for something decent. So far in this period people have a Cupra, a volvo, a mini, a ford and there's a couple qashqais floating around. Hope i get something decent. Please not another bloody citroen.

Let us know what you think if you get in to one of the Qashqai's, especially if it's an E-Power.

Yes, i sell Nissan's, but that drive train is pretty special.

I think you'll prefer it over the Citroën lol

Ended up with a 25 plate Passat hybrid estate with 500 miles on it. Lovely car.

Owned this 12 years, had it rebuilt after I broke it 11 years ago. Took it round the block, but needs final mapping to finish. Screenshot_20250524-215738.thumb.jpg.2dcf16709285d2244d1e416bb8083985.jpg

Very nice indeed! My son would absolutely Love it if daddy had that ride!

I snow foam washed both my Subarus today. Did a faster job (4 hours total) as now I've got two newer cars, i just dont have the time to go as nuts as I did with the bigger Subaru alone. That and I had 4 hours to kill before I had to pickup my daughter from her practice.

The Ascent is 1 year old 2 days ago and the  Forester is 2 months next week.  It's like I need to forget my kids and worry about the new ones hahaha.

I really enjoy cleaning them, just takes me into my own world away from stress of work etc.

That said, my pressure washer literally died after I finished. It won't turn on. I reset the button thing but it just won't feckin work. Need to youtube it now and debate if I need to buy a other. Sigh.  Hopefully I can fix it.

This happens to mine occasionally. If there's a build up of pressure inside, it can switch itself off.

Try connecting it to the water with the power turned off and just run water through it.

Occasionally press the trigger on the gun and it will cough and splutter as it clears the air pressure built up inside.

Once the water is running freely, switch the power on and it should be back up and working again.

The way to prevent it happening is every time you've finished, turn the power off but keep running water through it for a few minutes while pressing the gun to get rid of the air/pressure so it's clear for next time.

Sounds like good advice. I will give this a go.  What actually happened is after I finished the first car, I ate lunch. Came back out went to use it on the other car but it wouldn't work.  I did the reset thing on the plug and it helped after like 5 times.

Washed the second car without issue. About 20 minutes later went to wash the front door and windows and it would not work.

Will try this out sometime soon!

Thanks!

Went outside an hour ago and gave this a tru. Worked like a charm. Still not sure of there is an issue but moving forward I will remember to do this in hopes of not having to buy another pressure washer.

Btw, what brand/ model washer do you use?

Glad it worked mate!

If you remember to do it every time after use you should be fine (I still forget sometimes )

I use a brand called Karcher and the model is K3. Nothing flash and certainly not professional quality but does the job for me.

Not sure if you can get Karcher products in Canada?

Yes we can actually and I have heard of that one!

My biggest pet peeve is the storage of power and hose lines on these machines.  It is always a pain in the arse putting it all back together lol.  I bought a 50 foot flexilla hose as I dont like the one that came with mine.

Cant get on board with the Land Rover Defender. I've not come across one normal person that drives them, they are ridiculously expensive for what you get, unless you opt for the cheap postman pat 3 door version. I can't see the appeal, yet they seem to be everywhere.

They also aren't LR Defenders.

Great if you enjoy parts being stolen off them though

Any MOT testers here?

I’m trying to understand the rules around removing the back box is it going to fail a mot or is it discretionary per tester I.e noise etc?

I'm still driving my 2010 Discovery 4 as there is no reasonable replacement.

Like the G wagon. But car finance has done that and made driving any car accessible, allows the insecure and the under 6ft to drive super cars for less than 4 figures a month.

And there's great money in finance, the margins are superb, so everyone is a winner.

My point wasn't really about being insecure, or whether you can afford it, or your height lol....more about how naff they are.

I presume they break down a lot like the rest of the land rover collection, or get nicked...

You said, I quote - I've not come across one normal person...

Putting that on social media is obvs gonna lead to character assassinations.
