kushiro Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Loved that. Some of the descriptions were great: a 'rag-bag footballing motley crew' of 'cast-offs, journeymen and late bloomers'.

Sionnach gorm Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I'm not sure I agree with having to show the warts of the club. This is about the team and its achievements and struggles on the field. Plus, I suspect that American audiences really do not care about the lack of judgement of certain people in such a short perspective. All those incidents can be saved for a movie or a documentary.

Sleepy Fox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 To be fair, Roger Bennett is a massive bell-end. I did end up watching it (damn me), and it was fine as a curt summary of this season. We just like it since we get to see us win more, but it's not like the documentary actually give a huge glance of the history of our club. What's your beef with Men in Blazers? The may be corny, but they reach out to new audiences. I can even get my girl to watch their show.
st albans fox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Did I miss it or was our home point against WBA completely ignored?
Carl the Llama Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Did I miss it or was our home point against WBA completely ignored? It was, I was expecting at least a brief focus on the crowd's reaction to the Brom goals.
mikael2 Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I saw the whole documentary and it was great. I made a download for to be able to have a look once again. The only thing to criticise : why do we have to wait 7 matches more. I want it to be over. Want to see all the frustrating faces especially of the Arsenals and Tottenhams.
Jace Posted 20 March 2016 Author Posted 20 March 2016 Don't watch it. Those idiots at Men in Blazers don't deserve our eyeballs. Plus Curse of Rog. F****k Roger Bennett and his stupid patronizing show and persona. To be fair, Roger Bennett is a massive bell-end. I did end up watching it (damn me), and it was fine as a curt summary of this season. We just like it since we get to see us win more, but it's not like the documentary actually give a huge glance of the history of our club. If they were actually intent on showing the history of the club (like they did with the Bournemouth one), they could have dug even a tad further and it wouldn't have been hard. The review (yeah, not a documentary) was obviously catered to American fans who have been to lazy to follow us, but then again that's what those bellends at MIB do weekly. I don't understand why you have such a problem against this?
Detroit Blues Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I don't understand why you have such a problem against this? Agreed. They do a light hearted show. If you don't like it, nobody's forcing you to listen. Americanfox acts like the men in blazers have personally wronged him .
UPinCarolina Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 When Huth's giant square head put the ball into the back of the net against Man City, someone was cutting onions in my kitchen.
americanfox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I don't understand why you have such a problem against this? 1) They're quite rude & condescending, having interacted with them a few times. I also knew some people who were dumb enough to pay for BlazerCon (or whatever the hell they called it), and apparently Bennett in particular was rude there. 2) Their show panders to plastics. I strongly dislike everything their show stands for. Sure, their MIB show is light-hearted and they try to be funny, I get that. But their antics encapsulate all of the negative stereotypes on American fans and the sh*te that I deal with from those types of plastics who watch MIB then interact with me about football and continually belittle Leicester gets annoying. They are media personalities, not football people. The only reason people liked this PL Download is because we're top of the table and people like hearing about themselves when things so well. I'm just as guilty. The episode was literally chopped up pieces of existing NBC reel on us, nothing new, nothing inventive. Don't get the hype.
Itsthejoeker Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Really enjoyed that. Nice to see they got Vardy and Okazaki's bowing celebration, although they failed to mention its significance, and glossing over why Pearson was sacked was amusing! Kind of wish they've emphasised how Vardy repaid Mahrez giving up his penalty by forgoing a sitter against Swansea for Mahrez's hattrick. Excellent though. They weren't bowing, they were dabbing
UPinCarolina Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 We've come a long, long way together... I see what you did there.
Illusion35 Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Just finished watching and really enjoyed it. What a season so far!

I can see the "new" piece making little sense for somebody from the US or Canada and for somebody who loathes their pundits (I'm by no means a fan or Mustoe or Earle), but keep in mind most fans on here aren't regular viewers of NBC, let alone aware of their football coverage. In that regard, it does act as a novelty in many ways.

In that regard, it does act as a novelty in many ways. Fair point. But really that episode was just a summary of our season -- there's nothing new about it. Some new fan wouldn't go away knowing anymore about Leicester than they could watching a playlist of highlights from this season (and some of last). Aside from the high production quality (which NBC, kudos...), nothing great to be completely honest. Anyway, I actually don't even have anything against the 2 Robbies or even Kyle Martino. None of them are particularly good, but they're no worse than Lawro, Merson, or any English pundits. And all are considerably better than the idiots at FOX Sports (Lalas in particular has no business being around). And Lowe is a good host. I just think the crew at Men in Blazers are massive bellends who do a disservice to football in America.
Rincewind Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 Just watched it. Not bad but as said it was more of a review of the season. I would also have liked it been made at the end of the season with them lifting the trophy. Maybe they think they will fail and showing them slip would not be so good for viewing figures.

Jordan Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I just can't imagine getting that worked up about MIB. Sure, they might cater so a particular breed of fans that do things like "Patch at the Park" and actually buy tickets to whatever Blazer Con is... But on the other side of the coin, there's the segment of American soccer fans are such precious, precious souls that would get ticked off by their strange humor. You don't have to enjoy their sense of humor when they make jokes (and to be fair, it's borderline creepy) but why take it so seriously when they're just ****in around? Their podcast is decent but their show has become almost schizophrenic... But do I still watch it? Sure, why not. It's like how Drake sucks, but you still tolerate it when his songs come on because what the **** else are we gonna bop to these days Besides, this edition of PL Download isn't even a MIB bit, and Roger Bennett has mostly made his living by doing serious work that doesn't involve one-liners about Game of Thrones and nipples.

I just hate MIB b/c I hate the fans they breed. Those plastics are the worst, the two hosts are rude bellends, and I have been affected directly by their smug presence. That's all. It's not like I get worked up about it aside from when this got brought up. And it's not like your brother agrees with me, or anything...! Yes I know it's not even a MIB thing, but anything Roger Bennett is in by metonymy is MIB, and both are sh*te. Anyway, enough from me, it's not like my one pet peeve isn't known now.
Jordan Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 No worries. I'll look out for him next time I'm in SoHo and I'll try to straighten him out.
chicagofox Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I was looking forward to this but thought it was pretty crap and didn't offer anything that we haven't already seen. It did show up Robbie Mustoe and Robbie Earle (Yes they are 'experts' over here) as being completely clueless (not that they were alone) in saying that Claudio would be the first manager sacked and we'd go down.
EnglishOxide Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I was looking forward to this but thought it was pretty crap and didn't offer anything that we haven't already seen. Yeah, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Hopefully more effort will be put into a doc after we've lifted the trophy! It should always start with the Watford playoff match too. We have just not looked back since then. But it's significant because it formed the spine of the team and the character of Morgan, Kasper, Drinkwater, James, King, Vardy and Schluup.
