David Hankey Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 v Swansea = 3 pts, v Manure = 1 pt, v Everton = 3 pts and v Chelski 3 pts. That'll do nicely.
FireFox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 More interesting fact: When Ranieri won Ligue 2 (38 game season) with Monaco, he was 5 points ahead with 4 games to play. He won 3 of them, and finished 6 points ahead.

Jimbo Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 So, just so I'm clear on this........................we need 8 more points?? 3 wins out of 4 then???
TiffToff88 Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 So, just so I'm clear on this........................we need 8 more points?? 3 wins out of 4 then??? I always thought the new 2.66666666r points for a win rule was bizarre, but yes, thats exactly what we need! I'll get the champagne ready...
stripeyfox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 So, just so I'm clear on this........................we need 8 more points?? 3 wins out of 4 then??? I'm not sure, and I may need someone to check the math for me but I think that two wins and two draws would also equate to this magic total?
Jimbo Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I'm not sure, and I may need someone to check the math for me but I think that two wins and two draws would also equate to this magic total? Yeah but are going to want a draw from the last game of the season? All will be fine anyway, Spurs will lose 2 out of their last 4.....................
The Doctor Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 No. Yes. Spurs draw and all they can achieve is 78 points; so six points would do it, likewise defeat drops them to a 77 point maximum and 5 points does it.
Vacamion Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Just change the thread title to "a maximum of 8 points"
AKCJ Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 No. If Spurs drop points and we match that result then we only need two wins. For example, if Spurs draw with Chelsea and we draw with United then 2 other wins will do it.
Fox92 Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I assume 8 is with Spurs winning their remaining games. Too tense to actually look and work it out. We've got to assume Spurs will win every game anyway. I'm so nervous for Sunday but all four remaining games will be tough.
kingcarr21 Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 If Spurs drop points and we match that result then we only need two wins. For example, if Spurs draw with Chelsea and we draw with United then 2 other wins will do it. Don't need to match that result. If spurs drop points we need 2 wins regardless. If they draw 1 game they can only reach 78 points. We can lose 2 and win 2 and still be champions

Dodgy Bob Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Just need to win the two winnable games, Swansea at home and Everton at home. Worst case scenario would then be going into the final day needing to match Spurs' result. We're away at Chelsea, who might already be on the beach with nothing to play for and who's fans won't want to see spurs win it, while spurs are away at Newcastle, who might be needing a result to stay in the division. I'd fancy our chances in that situation. Chelsea could also do us a huge favour next Monday by getting a result at home to spurs, or we could do ourselves a huge favour by beating Man Utd as well as Swansea and Everton. All scenarios look fine providing we win the home games. And if we don't win those we don't deserve to be champions anyway, so no problem.
FireFox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 If Spurs win all their games, we need 8 points, 2 wins and 2 draws (or 3 wins). If Spurs drop 2 points, we need 6 points, 2 wins... or 1 win and 3 draws. If Spurs drop 3 points, we need 5 points, 1 win and 2 draws. If Spurs drop 4 points, we need 4 points, 1 win and 1 draw... or 4 draws. If Spurs drop 5 points, we need 3 points...

Benguin Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Been crunching numbers for over an hour trying to work out how any points we needed. I was lost but thankfully I found this tread! Thank you.

I think you've misunderstood the purpose of this thread - this is 'the bleeding obvious thread.' I'm currently winning but the challenge is to get people to post as much 'bleedin obvious' stuff as possible. Good luck.
Merging Cultures Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 If only there was a thread with a handy excel spreadsheet on it...
