brisfox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I was talking to my nephew on Monday night as we watched the game on TV. He used to work in the Middle East and did pretty well financially. He has always liked having a bet and when City were near the top of the league he decided to put £1000 on City winning the Premier League while the odds were still a very generous 1000/1. If the bet came off, we would have made over £1,000,000. He was about to put the bet on and was talking to a work colleague (a Scotsman) and told him about the bet. The Jock told him not to be an idiot and save his money so he decided against it so he didn't back them. Although he is delighted at the City win, he is feeling a little sick at not backing his hunch
st albans fox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Spurs almost won the title ....... I have 5 kids but I've almost had around 500. ........... we almost didn't sign kante so your nephew wouldn't have had to make the decision anyway ............ and finally, it's quite feasible that wherever he chose to place that bet, he would have been refused. Would he have been bothered to stick 500 on with one bookie and then place another 500 elsewhere? (Is he still talking to that jock?)
Webbo Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 if my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle Or your bollocky aunt.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I found a golden ticket in a wonky bar Damn I almost found one though... but I never bought a bar
Itsthejoeker Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I almost won the lottery last night, didn't buy a ticket.
promised land Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I almost won the lottery last night, didn't buy a ticket. It's a non thread, as you say you almost won like the OP's mate.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Thought this was gonna be "cashed out in October, only made £50" not "didn't place a bet"
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Thought this was gonna be "cashed out in October, only made £50" not "didn't place a bet" exactly, most pointless thread
shawy2510 Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Didn't bet but the memories I now have are good enough for me to forget a bet.
FireFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 When odds were 5000-1, I almost bet a million on Leicester to win the league, but I didn't have a million.
SydneyBlue Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I found a golden ticket in a wonky bar You sure the bar wasn't straight and that you were simply p!ssed?!
GaelicFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Damn I almost found one though... but I never bought a bar Yea as I stole the bar I was worried to turn up and get eaten by a fat German kid
GaelicFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 You sure the bar wasn't straight and that you were simply p!ssed?! , cheap cider .... I blame the cheap cider, makes everything wonky
GaelicFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 How many people on here have shite luck ? And you know if you had of put £1000 on a 5000-1 LCFC title win it would have failed !!! I can't even put city in my football bets because if they loose I feel the pain twice as bad , in my heart and pocket ! All this season I have watched the bookies give stupid generous odds on us in nearly every game , yet I never bet on them once Am I upset ? Am I Fook !
Danizen Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 bet the bookies wouldnt pay out a million anyway...Most big bookmaker's maximum payout is £1million. I know this because of the numerous times I've stuck £10 on a 100,005/1 shot and won but not got that extra £50.
