But surely it's about the total value of the players. For example, Mahrez is worth £50M minus what we have paid for him, minus what we have paid him, with a consideration of what we will pay him. Bottom line is we are well in profit with him. The same would apply to most of our squad. If you are going to calculate the cost, you must calculate the re-sale value as well.

But we're talking about money that's left to spend are we not, unless we sell him that money doesn't exist... he could end up seeing out his contract, losing form, breaking a leg and never recovering.

I do understand that, but all purchases are investments, some better than others. Some players will increase in value, usually older players will progressively decrease in value.

So far in this window we have committed to approximately £20M extra in wages, had a nett spend of zero on new players so far, and I would consider that the value of our squad has increased by more than the extra wage cost. We do therefore have considerable financial stability to be able to commit to quite considerable additions of costs for new players, if we so wish.

Spending against what your players may or not be worth at this moment in time isn't the way I'd go about it.

Again, we're limited with how much we can increase spending under the FFP limits. £20m extra blows those limits out of the water, so that money needs to be found through other income streams. eg. selling players and champions league money.

I'm sure there is wiggle room in there for a decent player, I'm not saying we're up to the limit. But the way people talk they expect us to go pumping about £40-£60m on multiple players.

If we spent 60 mil on 2 top quality players we would be within the FFP limits comfortably. This is what i expect from the club yes; especially after losing Kante. My focus is not so much the amount of money but the amount of impact signings that are expect to play in the starting eleven. So far only Mendy and Musa have a chance to start and that is only because of lack of quality.

We shouldn't be spending for the sake of it but to say we can't find any further suitable recruits to improve our first team squad is quite surprising.

Because of the patronizing tone: do you think FFP is rocket science? You have access to google, as long as you have completed high school you should be good figuring it out.

It was an actual question....no need to be a c**t about it.

I'll tell the guys at work to delegate the next audit to some A level students

In which case you'll know premier league clubs are limited to raising their wage bill by £7m each season. A 70k a week increase for Mahrez and Vardy alone takes us over that limit.

So with that in mind you have to prove further increases come from money you make from things other than TV money. Eg. Increased shirt sales, player sales, Increases match day income.

The rules are more complicated than the championship.

There is exceptional circumstances to this rule as well though and us winning the league out of nowhere is likely to be one of them. I'm also led to believe we have renegotiated a lot of sponsors which along with our shirt sales is plenty to increase the wage bill by way more than £7 million. We can't go mad obviously but our wage bill increase will have little effect on what we spend our TV revenue, league title win and CL money on as you've stated. Therefore there's still plenty of dough left to buy players. I'd have been alarmed had we not been able to increase the wages of Vardy, Mahrez, Kasper and Drinkwater but it's clear we can and will do.

There are lots of ifs buts and maybes in there.

Arsenal reportedly on the verge of signing him. Will be absolutely gutted if he tears it up in the premier league for another team. Out of all the strikers we were linked with wanted this one to happen the most, just hope we don't regret not signing him.

i get the feeling that the gaffa is all wind and no substance, plenty of players linked but not one signing since the polish player. we need a CM a.s.a.p , maybe there is no money been made available and it all a smoke screen, all the other club seem to be able to get there targets through but we miss every one, i smell a dead fish.

He might be prepared to play second fiddle to giroud at Arsenal but not to vards at Leicester. we may have already tried to get him in but failed.  Given vardy's importance to us, I doubt that there are many good forward players who want to come here.  Whilst we can offer CL football this season, it's unlikely to happen again. Players won't want to come and sit on the bench for their chance in the rumbelows!

That's alright, it's impossible to tear up the league when Arsenal's training regime has you tearing muscles every week!

I swear Arsenal do this every year, either to upset the transfer market or because they have no clue whom to sign, really. lol
