Leicester want to sign Benfica midfielder Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez, according to Portuguese daily A Bola.

A Bola claim that the Foxes have inquired as to the conditions (price etc) in which Benfica would be willing to sell their prized midfielder.

Check out ‘The Moroccan Lion’s’ 2015 highlight reel on the clip below.

Watching Carcela’s (as he’s referred to in Portugal) highlights and observing his box-to-box style, it’s hard to avoid a certain similarity with a certain French international midfielder…

He looks tenacious. Would fit in well based on the video but obviously that's just his best bits

20 apps, 2 goals and 6 assists in the league this year

This is the kind of rumour we want to see. Never heard of the bloke. Probably going to be amazing.

Here we go then!

Love this kind of thing

No we dont,as it hints of a Kante replacment! Although to be fair this only says he's a box to box midfielder not a box to box and side to side and corner to corner midfielder

It would hint a Kante replacement if they were anything like each other!

I hope that's more reliable than it's sister publication E Bola

From the late nights of FM11 I've always thought of him as a right winger and right now nothing like Kante. Also one to add to the AFCON midseason holiday list being Moroccan

Transfermarkt seem to have him down as having played for Belgium and Morocco. Not sure of the rules regarding that. I thought you had to make up your mind one way or the other. Looks like he played for Belgium first but has since had more games for Morocco.

edit: "Mehdi Carcela-González was born and raised in Belgium, and won two caps for Belgium in official friendly matches before switching to his ancestral nation of Morocco in 2011" from wikipedia. Friendlies don't count apparently. So yeah, we'd lose him for the AFCON

Probably hates the thought of coming here and moving so far away from the sunshine. And what the hell's so special about two goals?  Also who released the information in the first place? If the club or the agent can't keep their mouths shut,  don't deal with them.  As for being a Kante replacement that's like saying a clockwork toy could replace perpetual motion. I don't want replacements for Kante.

I love this guy at Benfica, but only as a good substitute because we have Nico Gaitán.

He´s very quick, has a good technique even though, he gets confused with the ball sometimes. Defensively, he´s not that great, he played against Bayern Munchen in the 2nd leg of the Champions League 1/4 finals (because Nico was injured) and you could notice that he wasn´t that great tactically.

Benfica will have a lot of wingers next season (Nico, Salvio, Carrillo, Cervi, Carcela, Gonçalo Guedes, Pizzi and maybe, Zivkovic or other wonderkids), so Carcela might leave next summer and for €8/10M Benfica´s chairman is already rubbing his hands.

Anyways, I doubt that this interest in Carcela wasn´t "planted" in the social media to see if he attracts potencial buyers (PSV looks interested in him too), that happens a lot in Portugal.

Would be a good, not great signing for Leicester. I think he´s better than Schlupp or Albrighton.

Carcela is quite a nice player and would be better if it wasn´t some injuries he had and the time he played for Anzhi Makhachkala.
