I'm hoping so. I'd already factored in Swansea as one of the teams to get relegated. We don't them getting turned round by some decent manager in their own great escape.
Guest ttfn Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Fancy bringing in a new manager to a struggling side and not even giving him one transfer window. Whether he was a downgrade on Guidolin or not, he was on a hiding to nothing with an absolutely turgid squad. How is he supposed to It around without being given the opportunity to determine the make-up of his squad? Hopefully they appoint Giggs, get relegated, and we don't see them again for the foreseeable future. I have nothing but sympathy for the Swansea fans but the management of that club has gone from exemplary to embarrassing in 18 months.
The Doctor Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Bob Bradley wasn't working that well, but 3 managers in a season is a bad move, let alone binning him off without a chance to change the squad at all, and this close to the transfer window has them running behind everyone again. Got a bit of a wiff of the Fulham 13/14 season about them. Start with a reasonable manager, bin him off, left field appointment who was no good and someone else in, likely too late to pull them out.

Sharpe's Fox Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 With Sigurdsson and a decent manager Swansea should be well clear. Sigursson would be getting into the first eleven down from sixth and that's a fact.
MPH Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Oops - my bad. I started a thread about this in the general sports section...

foxes21 Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Swansea used to be a great club to look up to, for Championship sides trying to make it. Used to be such a well run club, shame.

I think a lot of people would take the job after relegation is confirmed, I don't think many people want it before then.

Shouldn't be a problem with a player that good imo, we showed tha with Kante. Just tell the players to give the ball to him and he'll win you 10 games out of 38 easy. Add in a decent manager like Pulis to sort a system out for the defence and they'd be top half no problem, you don't need great individuals to keep clean sheets.

Sigurdsson is a very good player; Kante is world class. Totally disagree about that squad, I think it's the second worst in the PL after Hull. Roughly on a par with Burnley imo.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Damn, thought they'd stick with him for the season. They'll probably end up with Pardew.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Since they won the league cup they have really gone down hill fast. Hoping they go down now. Sacking Monk a year ago was a disgrace too

NewEnglandFox Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Monk didn't get sacked for purely footballing reasons. There was that shitshow that got us Nathan Dyer on loan that put Monk between his players and the management. If the management wouldn't change, I don't fault anyone for getting out of there. And considering Monk has Leeds in the playoff places, I'd say he's better off even though Leeds management is also rather notorious.

I still don't think they're good enough. He would probably be the best player to get relegated for at least 5 years or so though if they were to drop.
Koke Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Swansea used to be a great side. Played some sensational football, free flowing outstanding stuff. Since Monk they've turned into hoof merchants and are easy to beat.

Barky Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Swansea's plight just goes to show how sacking managers can easily make things worse. They've now got nothing going for them, will be relegated and might not come back up for many years

Totally the wrong person they needed for the job at the time.
