I said I wonder why they are needed when two hands are just as loud.

Oh thanks for repeating that again. And you are right when you say two hands are just as loud. Clever boy. Unfortunately many thousands of people will not clap their hands as much as they use the clappers. So 3000 hand claps will not be as loud as 20000 clappers.

Agreed. Union FS have been brilliant, that first Tifo set the tone for the rest of the season.

I've nothing against clappers but I do wonder why they are needed when 2 hands are just as loud. Maybe a handout could be circulated next season demonstrating the required action to produce a decent hand clap;-)

cos you can use your clappers non stop the 90  and the entire match without getting sore hands, and they're a lot louder than clapping... thats what i reckon anyway.. definitely create a better atmosphere with them than without.

Yeah, can't a mod make it so it changes the word 'clapper' to 'I'm a jeb end' or something?

It's not in favour of having them or not, it's just that every thread surrounding singing, atmosphere, new songs etc, just degenerates into clappers vs non clappers and it's fvcking boring lol

lol lol sore hands!

If you constantly clapped with your hands for 90 minutes I'd imagine your hands would be blistered to ****!

I do find it a little odd that some people have needed prompts (in the form of the clappers) in order to get involved - but now they are contributing to an atmosphere that has become revered and envied throughout the country, and so I don't understand why people are so against them. Everybody is entitled to make noise in their own way and they're hardly offensive.

When Norwich and Swansea trialled them this season they had nowhere near the same impact. As a crowd we've been fantastic but I wish we'd stop the one-upmanship that borders on snobbery regarding a3 pieces of cardboard. And I post this as somebody who never touches the things.

Anything that helps make us collectively louder as a fan base should be embraced not ridiculed, for me.

The clappers create a general wave of noise all around the stadium that is seriously fvcking loud.

Totally this Betts you have hit the nail on the head!I have always advocated anything that helps improve our atmosphere is brilliant and L1, UFS, our magnificent team and the clappers have all played a part.

Then sadly the sanctimonious, look at me, it's all down to us, clappers=jebend pricks chime up.

Why do you have to do it and

The chants have always been and probably always will be exclusive to certain sections of the ground and that goes for when we were at Filbo too.

The balance is perfect and is unlike anything at any other ground.

Why do you have to do it and who the fvck do you think you are? Without the clappers there is I would guess over 70% of the ground that would not be involved maybe more.

Why can't you just accept praise for the good that is done.

I am not criticising all involved just the idiots that wont accept it's lots of factors that have helped our atmosphere not just them.

It almost seems like a certain few want much less noise so a relatively little sections noise stand out so they can say look at us like the Palace fan boys.

Give me our WALL of noise any day!

I was clearly talking about people who constantly bring up clappers on this forum and not people who use them.

I wish we would ban the word 'clapper' from the forum...

They've done more for the atmosphere than anything else.

Fair enough if you don't want to use them yourself (I don't) but I think you can appreciate how much noise they make.

as per the same usual fans who think they're more "hardcore" and think clappers are awful having a go at the best atmosphere in the country and our best atmosphere in most people's living memory.

sad thing is these folk go on and on about atmosphere and now we've got a really good one, but they're not happy because it comes from the clappers and they're "tinpot". seems they'd rather the ground was 95% silent but their 500 or so in the corner were singing and clapping. that'd be great, that.

Exactly the point I'm making Scouse, it's ludicrous! Our atmosphere is phenomenal and sadly it's like some want it to be quieter so their gang stand out, look at us!

That would be a massive backward step I feel.

Like I said at the start of the post I wasn't advocating for or against them. I'm just bored of every discussion about the crowd turning into clappers vs non clappers, just as this thread has. The thread has gone from praising the atmosphere to arguing over bits of cardboard, like it does every time they're mentioned.

There should be a dedicated clappers pros/cons royal rumble thread and everyone can just argue about them in there, and ban discussions about them in every other thread.  :D

If people make derogatory comments, which happened once again in this thread, I have every right to post an alternative viewpoint as it's a forum.

I as others have stated categorically that we're all for any improvements to the atmosphere. I personally don't use them but many many thousands do to great effect.

The sanctimonious, judgemental and derogatory comments that others make fuel the fire.

And like it or not anything that involves the crowd and noise involves the clappers and luke them or not they have been the single most largest contributor to our fantastic noise and atmsphere as all sections of the ground are now included.

So to say talk about it and not include them is short sighted in itself!

Fair enough, although I really don't see any negatives to them.

I don't use my clapper - never have - but regardless of what we all think of them they have improved the atmosphere, no doubt about it. People who don't usually clap just use their clapper, it all adds up. The ground currently has the best atmosphere I've ever seen and there's no point in changing anything.

My clapper from Chelsea home. Sits on the sideboard next to my signed ball from 1985.

Who cares what makes ours the best. Lets just enjoy having the best team and atmosphere in England

Just a quick post to thank all the young 'uns in Union Fs for helping create the best atmosphere in recent years. Also for the hiring of upstairs of the pub after the Everton game.

Cheers!

Hi all and thank you Santiago Fox,

There's not too much to say that hasn't already been said about this season. I doubt we could find the words, anyway.

Everyone has played their part in making this the most unforgettable of 12 (well, 14) months. Of course the players, staff, Ranieri (and Pearson) have done the business that we as fans cannot influence.

As supporters, we think it's fair to say we too have made great strides in terms of creating a frenzied atmosphere, all around the ground, that visiting teams hate. Our players have frequently commented on how important our backing was and Ranieri continues to state how much we pushed his team.

Sure, we should recognise the contribution we have made but Union FS believe that this is not the time for a great deal of mutual backslapping. We have done our bit but next season we have bigger challenges to negotiate - trying to retain the title and impress in Europe.

Everyone must continue to play their part, in whatever way they can, in supporting the lads and not letting any sense of entitlement or arrogance creep in.

As a group, we have grown over the course of the past 2 years and want to continue to expand. We would encourage all those who want to stand and sing for 90 minutes, who don't mind the occasional flag waving and constantly beating drum to make the move over to us in SK1, if possible. If this interests you, please get in touch with us via [email protected].

Enjoy the summer,

Union FS

New season new tifo's! Come on lets dig deep with donations.

Intrigued to see what UFS come up with next season. The group have gone from strength to strength since 2013. The atmosphere in the ground as a result, has benefited.

Ordering one of the new t-shirts tonight, they look brilliant. Will also be donating towards the tifo's. Been a pleasure to help set them up in the past. Such a friendly bunch, James is very professional & a great guy. Can't wait to be back up in SK1 with UFS in August.
